New Year’s Eve Makeup: Golden Berry

I wanted something simple but still festive for New Year’s Eve, so I went with a modified version of this look, just to make it a little softer. I thought I’d also try using Cuddle shadestick under a lot of frost-finish shadows while I was at it, too, so I managed to squeeze that into the look!  I was already running late, and the boyfriend had that look on his face (you know, the one that says “If you spend more than fifteen minutes on your makeup, I’m leaving without you!“), so I didn’t want to experiment too much!

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Cuddle shadestick as your eyeshadow base all over the lid with the 249, then even out with the 217. Using the 239, apply Goldmine eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Gleam eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Cranberry eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Next, define the crease by applying Fig. 1 eyeshadow with the 226. Lightly tap and brush Gleam eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying El Dorado Liner on the lower lash line, and then sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Sugarbomb to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 129.

For lips, apply Gems lipstick first, and then layer Maline glossimer for a pretty pinky-coral lip look.

Thanks a lot, Maggie! Haha, I love me some lip combinations. It’s so hard for me to do anything twice, too.

So beautiful! I saw so many looks leading up to Christmas and New Year – all with loads of glitter, which I love, but it’s so nice to see something different, warm and fresh. It’s just perfect; and I’m falling in love with Benefit’s Sugarbomb more and more each second. :-)

So pretty! Haha a bit late though… It’s okay! Totally doubles as a fresh spring look! I love it. I was looking at one of your posts with a side by side of you one year ago and now, and I was wondering if you would ever consider cutting your hair short again?

    • Christine says:

Oh, this is my actual makeup for New Year’s Eve :)

I doubt it, because I really, really didn’t like it when it was short. I don’t have the time/energy/desire to style it everyday, and unless you style it, it looks pretty rubbish!

Another very nice EOTD! For my New Year’s day dinner, I also did a simple look but without lining my upper lash line. Just lined my lower lash line. and I thought it’s kinda funny. Normally, I would line my upper lash line and sometimes, not lining the lower lash line. Not the opposite. But somehow, lining only the lower lash line looked OK too, for me, of course. And now I see you did similar….the gold UD eyeliner is very pretty! The other gold eyeliner you’d used which I like is the Loreal HiP Chrome one.

  24. rowan says:

i’ve never thought of using gold with berry, thanks for the inspiration! i adore cranberry, such a beautiful shade.

  25. sizbelle says:

this look is festive yet not too dramatic like what claudia says..

  26. Nicci says:

You look so pretty Christine! How long did it take to do your eyes? You blend all the shadows so perfectly all the time in your looks. It looks so professional. I like the colors, it reminds of me summer for some reason :)

    • Christine says:

Thanks a lot, Nicci! Probably about ten minutes or so :) I’ve done the gold/berry look often enough that it doesn’t take too much thought for placement and what colors to use, so that saves a ton of time.

  27. karen says:

    Very pretty look!

  28. Sarah says:

I love this look . Its so fresh and the lip combination looks divine on you ~!

  29. Stefawnduh says:

  30. Chelsea says:

I love the idea of a golden berry look. Following your directions, I was able to create something very similar using the products at hand: Nars eyeshadow duo in Brazil, Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Honey, and Nars Orgasm on my cheeks. Thanks!

  31. Catherine says:

This is such a beautiful look! I really love golds and Cranberry on you. I was lucky enough to score MAC’s Cult of Cherry quad recently so I’ll be sure to try something similar soon! :D

  32. aaj83 says:
