NARS Strawberry Fields Lip Gloss
Who knew NARS could do opaque lipgloss?
NARS Strawberry Fields Lip Gloss ($24.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a richly pigmented, near-opaque shade of deep strawberry pink (but I almost want to call it raspberry–the product name makes me want to stay on track, though). It’s the most pigmented lip gloss I’ve ever tried by NARS–and I’m really quite (pleasantly) surprised by it.
Of course, not every lip gloss needs to be opaque, and there is certainly a time and place for even the sheerest glosses. I’ve just come to accept that NARS glosses are generally sheer and that’s that. Strawberry Fields is a dominating shade in comparison to the NARS range. It’s bold and bright without being too much; it will give your lips definition and zero in the focus to them, but it’s not a traffic-stopping shade.
I got about three hours of wear this shade, and then a slight stain that wore on for another hour or two. It was scent- and taste-free (not even a hint of waxiness/plastic!). I do like NARS glosses for their moisturizing properties, too. Though $24 may seem steep for a lip gloss, NARS delivers much more than the average lip gloss does–0.28 oz.–which makes them as expensive (by the ounce) as MAC lipglasses.

RECOMMENDATION: NARS is really stepping it up with their fall collection from the select pieces I’ve tried so far. If you dig opaque lip glosses and have been looking for something in a deep pink shade, Strawberry Fields may be something to check out.

Oooh, damn, now I feel a lemming coming on for both this and Bougainville... Why must I always fall for the LEs? *sigh* Out of curiosity, do you think the two NARS glosses Strawberry Fields and Bouganville are to the Clinique Superbalm shades Currant and Raspberry (respectively) are similar enough to kill that lemming? Obviously the opacity would be considerably greater in the case of the NARS glosses, but I'd like to know if the hues are even somewhat close.
It looks so pretty! I looked at this lipgloss when I was in London but I didn't have that much time and the lipgloss is a bit pricey but oh my I feel stupid for not looking a little longer because this colour looks so beautiful!
This is so freaking gorgeous! It's seriously one of the most beautiful shades I have ever worn on my lips. Too bad it's limited edition. I purchased four tubes because somehow I can't stand the thougt that I might run out of it one day. Thank you so much for making a review of this one, Christine! :)
Hi Christine! I was wondering what color lip liner you used, if any? I had a very small issue was bleeding. Thanks so much!
Omg!! That is so pretty on you! I absolutely love it. I think you have convinced me to get it, and i don't even like gloss!!! It reminds me of like a fruit punch color. Love it!
Hmmm I have Illamasqua Petulant gloss, which might be similar to this? Probably Petulant is more pink?
ooohhh!! I like!!! b/c it leaves a stain.. and it's a plus that it's name is the same as the Beatles' song which is on my top 10 favorite songs..
I just tried Strawberry Fields on today and it's incredibly pigmented! It's such a pretty colour and applied lightly, works great as a stain too! The lipgloss looks so good on you! :)
It's beautiful. Really does bring fruit to mind. Would definitely consider it if I had more money and it were cheaper, ha ha.
I really like this gloss, because it seems so pigmented and it would compliment my skin tone well. I have a preference for highly pigmented lipglosses from Nars, like Dolce Vita or Bloodwork. This shade looks really good on you, Christine. :)
You're welcome! :) I can totally understand why some people can be disappointed in the brand. Unless you swatch the products (or check temptalia for swatches :p), you can't know if one product is sheer or pigmented. They should specify it in their products' description. Maybe you can also try the lip stain glosses (more like liquid lipstick actually). But it's a hit or miss. It stays put on me; it just doesn't on my sister. :p I have Sayonara btw. Wow, I'm chatty. ^^
dolce vita is also one of my fav nars lip glosses because it's so opaque. I must try this new one too. :)
This is super pretty, I am for sure going to pick this one up. It looks more raspberry which I love.
Reminds me of Illamasqua Petulant lipgloss... love the shade. Funny how it looks so dark in the tube but applies so brightly.
wow, this almost looks kind of red. I will have to see at the counter to see what it looks like on myself...
Pretty lip gloss, I'm still trying to get to the mac store for that purple lipstick that came out in the groove collection
that's such a pretty color on you!! i love red/strawberry/raspberry lip glosses, so i might have a look (and knowing me, end up buying it...
The color is gorgeous! There's so much pink in the berry that it would probably work on paler skin, too!
ah! so pretty, definitely gonna check this out...will you be reviewing the new fall blush christine? thanks for this review!
