NARS Larger Than Life Eyeliner
NARS Larger Than Life Eyeliner Swatches Sneak Peek
NARS Larger Than Life Eyeliner ($23.00 for 0.02 oz.) is a new (and permanent) long-wearing pencil eyeliner that is available in nine shades (though two have not yet been made available online). They’re touted to have 12-hour wear with no smearing or caking. Each eyeliner twists up and also has a built-in sharpener. I’m not ready to write-up a full review quite yet (one trial does not a review make!), but so far, my experience has been positive–and I was worried, because I had a terrible experience with NARS Eyeliner Pencils previously.
Available shades:
- Abbey Road Iridescent turquoise
- Bourbon Street Purple
- Madison Ave. Slate grey
- Rue Bonaparte Light almond
- Rue de Rivoli Metallic forest green
- Rue Saint-Honore Deep royal blue
- Santa Monica Blvd. White
- Via Appia Copper brown
- Via Veneto Black

I absolutely adore Rue Saint-Honore and Via Appia! Wow, all of these lovely choices could drive a girl to bankruptcy! I love them all!
Rue Bonaparte and Madison Ave must be mine as soon as it is available at Nordstrom (I`m in Brazil and NARS do not accept out-of-the-US billing address even if the shipping address in the States = /
They all look pretty and strongly pigmented. I want to take a look at Rue Bonaparte as a pencil to possibly use on my waterline to make my eyes look bigger because the white Santa Monica Blvd. is too white. Christine can you please tell me when this collection will go outside of the US? I'm in London at the moment.
I'm not sure - the info I get is typically only for U.S. (I have tried to get on UK/Euro distribution lists but to no avail) - and they list narscosmetics.com for availability only. If it does emerge outside of U.S., I would expect August/September.
Call me traditional, but I am all about Via Vento - but then also needing a true dark matte black right now. I lost in a purse somewhere my last 24/7 UD in zero. Ugh.
Christine - how do you think the wear time and lack of transfer on these compare to UD 24/7? I am interested in a few shades. I do find trouble with those type of sharpeners on the ends here - they never work for me.
Thanks, be watching to see what you find on the wear/transferability on these. I do so well with UD 24-7 in those depts..though unless set with the new UD All Nighter or an old BE fixative I have - the bottom line of UD will smudge after about 4 hrs on me.
Hope you do a side-by-side comparison with some of the belowed Milani pencils. HG of eyeliner pencils! Although some of these colours are quite interesting. Madison Ave., Rue Bonaparte, Rue Saint-Honore.. And I love the names! Need one called Penny Lane!
Thanks for the sneak peek! Can't wait for the full review - your blog is the best because you give the products a real trial before you post your findings. You haven't led me astray once!
so excited...i just bought Rue Saint Honore the other day from online and i can't wait to get it in!
St. Honoré looks gorgeous. I'm intrigued by Rue Bonaparte -- what would you use a color like that for? Not bright enough to highlight, not dark enough to define...
i'd use a color like that on my waterline..gives you a more awake look, and isn't as noticeable as using a stark white pencil on the waterline
Via Appia will be mine! It's gorgeous and I think it will go well with my blue eyes! All of these have such a beautiful sheen and color though!
I love abbey road, rue bonaparte, and madison ave. I'm glad so far you're liking them, I was worried these wouldn't live up to their swatches!!
MAC Technakohls are $14.50 for .012 ounce, so it's actually comparable to other "mechanical" twist-up eyeliner pencils.
When I learned it was twist-up, it didn't seem so bad, but at first glance, most pencil eyeliners are 0.04 oz.! I know when I first photographed and was just reading the box, I was like, "WTF? 0.02 oz.?!?" I have to see how the waste is when you use the sharpener, though.
Yea, I've found that twist-up pencils are usually half the amount, but priced more. I'm not a fan of that, but NARS is by no means alone in the price/oz. Hopefully you'll find that the sharpener won't waste a ton of product!
NARS Rue Saint-Honore Larger Than Life Eyeliner & NARS Abbey Road Larger Than Life Eyeliner look simply gorgeous :)
Huzzah! They actually seem to work pretty well! Not anything I'd buy personally, but they seem better than those Soft Touch Shadow Pencils, so there's a good thing. :D
I'm always on the lookout for the long-wearing yet creamy eye liners, so these tickle my fancy. I woukd be interested to find out how these compare to Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil, whhich I love.
I was so hoping they would include a gorgeous teal color like Kaliste in this new formula! Oh well . . .
Meh, I have so many UDs, these may be a pass for me. Maybe I'll get the Madison Ave one, but the rest look like I have decently comparable shades already.
Ha! The two I'm most interested in are the ones unavailable yet (the purple and the green). But oh my, tahnks to this sneak peek, I can tell Rue Saint Honoré is going to be mine! Rue Bonaparte can be great for the waterline. I also like Santa Monica because it's a true white.
They are ALL amazing. I want everyone. Too bad they are so expensive. I will try to pick up 1 or 2 of them anyway.
