MAC Venomous Villains Reviews & Swatches

MAC Venomous Villains

MAC Venomous Villains Collection for Disney

U.S. Launch Date: September 30th, 2010 (online as early as 9/27)
International Launch Date: October 2010

A potion to poison, an apple to bite, a spell to cast… Bad never looked so good. A crystal ball of colour created from our favourite Disney Venomous Villains, inspired by the three most infamously frosty, fabulous and formidable of Disney’s dark ladies… and one dastardly Dr. Facilier. Don’t you love it?

A MAC and Disney collaboration to celebrate the dark side in every one of us, in a glamorous sort of way. Who’s the fairest one of all? Four separate mini-collections, in haute animated couture. The incomparable Cruella De Vil and Snow White’s Evil Queen are dazzlingly devilish; Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent and The Princess and the Frog’s DR. FACILIER, both up to no good on their own. Uniquely designed iconic packaging you will kill for, cunning characters and bedeviled beauties that are so alluring, you can’t help but wonder what it would be like to be one!

  1. Elyse

Push the edge Pigment Ill deff be getting.

the blush in the 2nd picture looks pretty. Im guessing thats bite of an apple.

the packaging is catchy but some of the descriptions are not. I guess I will have to see them for myself!

  2. Karla

I am soo excited & I love the packaging as well!! can`t wait & will grab all that i want b4 it sells out. I found out from a friend that also Nordstrom will be having Lady Gaga lipglosses as an exclusive, <3 <3 Mac rocks my sox, ily Mac!!

  3. Meagan

Hmm I wonder if Dark Deed l/s will be anything like So Scarlet from the Cult of Cherry collection.

  4. Azaza

Urgh what crappy packaging. I’m excited to see the actual swatches though since I am still quite new to collection MAC stuff

I still cant get over the epic fail for this great sounding collection. I mean come one these are Disney villains for goodness sake

  5. claudia

The packaging is just okay. I would have preferred something a bit more artsy to signify the villains, not just slap a picture of the villain on the package. More like an essence of villains…like the spindle that sleeping beauty pricked her finger on, or the queen’s crow, or the magic mirror, the poison apple, or someone’s signature hat or accessory. That way it doesn’t look like i went to disneyland and got a kiddie lipgloss from the gift shop.

  6. Pearl

The eyeshadows are pretty interesting but I don’t like the packaging. Looks more like a childish cosmetic collection. It would have been a lot better if they have used the monotone sketch appeared in the promo pics instead.

  7. Michelle

I like how everyone is knocking this collection, but lets face it, a lot of it will be sold out.

  8. Michelle

  9. Tahereh

I have to say I’m in love with the concept but like from what everyone says, the packaging is just not doing it for me. It’s so lack luster and poorly done like the Emanuel Ungaro collection. Very disappointing in the that aspect.

  10. emily

ooooh the pigment looks great and so does the pink eyeshadow with the shine/glitter.

this collection is going to be fantastic for glamour makeup!! wooo hooo

  11. julie

I’m in love with the Malificent shadows. In love.
They work so well with the packaging. I love the way it shimmers behind the picture. SO beautiful. A must have for me.
    And the mirror.
Possibly one pink lip product. But that’s all though. Don’t need much more than that.

  12. Maddy

is it just me or did the prices go up?

  13. Catrin

I do not like the packaging which will be a big reason NOT to buy the stuff.
    The nail lacqer looks good!

  14. Beto Kylie

At first I thought the packaging was lame, but now I see some, if not all, is actual art taken straight from the film!!! The drawing of the Evil Queen is a dead give-away for me, as I recgonize it from when she’s spying on Snow White when the Prince meets her.
I’m wanting so many things, especially from Maleficent!!! I have a feeling that seeing the products in person, I’ll want so much more!!!

I think the products chosen for Dr. Facilier are with men in mind, not just to have a male character in the collection. Whoever mentioned Hades, that’s a great idea! I would’ve loved to see blues, too. Scar would have been a pretty cool villain – I picture earth tones, deep black, vibrant warm colors, and bright green or yellow!!!

I really want the “Briar Rose” Beauty Powder, not only does the color work for me, but it has the name of my favorite Princess!!!!

They should come up with a Disney Princess collection next year!!!

  15. stefania

not nice packaging, but lovely products, the nail lacquer Bad Fairy
must be mine!!! and other things as well… 😉

  16. jojo

gosh!! probably gonna get the pigment only…the packaging is SUPER BORING!! oooo mac whats goin on!!

  17. Lovebugg003

  18. Beth

Count me in for the nail lacquers, but for the rest….I’ll have to wait and see.

  19. Natalie

I think the majority of my purchases will be from Maleficent. The mineralized eyeshadows look great! so does the nail laquers. Considering Bite of an Apple from the descriptions and Heartless. The packaging is a bit wack. Would of thought Disney would of come up with something better. I imagined the packaging to be all sparkley or something. As for Dr. Facilier, what?

  20. sf

I am also disappointed with the packaging.I know this is the evil side of Disney…but black packaging???It reminds me of fafi!Aside from that the magically cool liquid powder sounds intriguing and I like the fact that the collection has everything from mes to pigments. The purple mineral e/s in the pic looks sooo gorgeous

  21. Marisol

I believe MAC had nothing to do with the packaging. That was probably Disney’s idea or chose. Stop complaining. You all sound childish just like the packaging does in your opinion. There is nothing that can be done so you either buy the stuff for the good colors or just forget about it. Just stop the complaining already!!!!!

  22. kinda looks like a let down, would expect more from mac, esp for a collection like this. Dont really wanna look like im using smethg from the disney store, you know? it the pictures were more artistic they would hav been better, esp since these are the villans, so the more crazy the better right? plus i was hoping for more dramatic colours… *le sigh*

  23. Bobbie C.

Hm….Idk…I just can’t get over how much I dislike the packaging.

  24. Jessica

if prices keep going up like that, i won’t be able to afford mac anymore. that’s crazy.

  25. Emily

This collection is going to leave me broke! I love it all !

  26. Why should a rich man steal? — John Ray

  27. Meli

looks kind of cheap booooo ;(

  28. Victoria

    Eh, seriously? Cartoon stuff again?
The products seems really nice. I am really attracted to the red gloss in the first picture and the greasepaint sticks (great experience from the Art Supplies collection). But the packaging really puts me off.
The design could have been done nicer.

  29. Jen

most likely will be getting the beauty powder and blush from the evil queen. the eyeshadows sound nice, but will have to see them in person (or swatched) first. definitely getting a backup slick black greasepaint stick. i’m also interested in seeing the magically cool liquid powder, and maybe the nail polishes. i don’t really care for the packaging either way.

  30. Steph

Poor Collection. Looks THROWN TOGETHER. You can tell MAC execs are like “ugh oh well, gotta work with what we got” . this is gonna be one of those, gotta see swatches to know IF im getting anything but the “collector” in me is like just get the Malificent stuff.

  31. Corinne

I am really excited for this set. It’ll be my first MAC purchases ever! I so want all the Maleficent and Evil Queen ones 😀

  32. Josiane

    Ugly pachaging!!
but I might but some lip lacquers.. I’ll wait for the swatches

  33. I’ll definitely check out the nail polishes but I’m kinda “meh” on everything else.

  34. Only what we partly know inspires us with the desire to know more. — Emerson

  35. Evil Queen Toxic Tale l/s looks devilishly delightful 😀 I wish they did the packaging more like their abstract villains as opposed to the literal villains though :/

  36. dayna

reallyyyy dont like the packaging :[[[[. they should/could of done SOOOO much better. it looks bad, like they made them up really quickly. disappointing… but i’m DEFINITELY going to pick some things up :]]

  37. Mina

they seem more like a winter collection than a fall collection hmmmmm

  38. Michelle

Toxic tale looks like Viva glam Cyndi and so does the description just a different texture.

  39. harley

I wont mind de potting these shadows

  40. macloli

The packaging is almost always decided because of who they are collaborating with. I don’t think they’re stickers; it’s printed on this time. The makeup colors were chosen using the actual “pantone chips” that were used to create the original disney villian characters. I thought it was awesome of disney to do that.

  41. leanne

That packaging is just hideous – too bad because a couple of the products look promising – especially the nail polishes – but ive been collecting MAC for 3 years now and this has to be the WORST packaging YET – even worse than dame edna stickers! :(

  42. Lauren

This looks really cheesy. I’m disappointed. And also, I thought they would have included Ursula as she wore a ton of makeup and was an awesome villain. And I understand they wanted to include Facilier to add diversity but I just don’t think it makes sense; he isn’t one of those classic Disney villains yet as the movie he was in just came out.

  43. The minerlized eyeshadows seem amazing but foer the rest of the collection, the pricing is a little high

  44. Ruth

This is by far the most boring and unimaginative packaging design from MAC. Lousy collaboration, utterly disappointed.

  45. Wendy R.

The official launch date for the U.S. is September 30!It was confirm in the newest issue of Allure magazine. I’m so excited because that is on my birthday :)

  46. I CAN NOT WAITTT!!!!

  47. Shana

I don’t know why people are making negative comments about this packaging for this collection. The packaging is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! The pictures portray the REAL disney villains, and MAC is AMAZING!! I can’t wait till this collection comes out, I already wrote down what I want and it’s over $300, awe, better start saving now!! Mac rocks!!!!

  48. Shana

I think the packaging looks AMAZING!!! I already made a list of what I want, and it is going to be over $300,awe!!! I am starting to save up now for it. By the way, I don’t understand the negative comments about this packaging, it’s not like Mac charges extra for customers to pay for the packaging, and its not up to Mac anyway, it’s up to Disney to come up with the design. I have a room full of Mac stuff, and I can’t wait till this collection comes out to add t my stash!! Mac is AWESOME!!

  49. Jae

This gets me so excited for my honeymoon to Universal Stuios/Disney World in October for the Halloween events (squee for trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom)!! My only concern is that some of these I might be able to find as dupes elsewhere. But we won’t know that till release.

    I want (subject to change)…

    Lipglass: ($60)
Wicked Ways – Light nude with gold pearl (Limited Edition)
Devilishly Stylish – Deep fuchsia with pink pearl (Limited Edition)
Hot House – Deep raspberry with pink pearl (Limited Edition)
Revenge is Sweet – Light yellow purple (Limited Edition)

    Beauty Powder: ($50)
Oh So Fair – Mid-tone pink with gold pearl (Limited Edition)
Briar Rose – Soft violet pink with pearl (Limited Edition)

    Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo: ($42)
My Dark Magic – Deep pink with pink pearl / Deep plum with purple pearl (Limited Edition)
She Who Dares – Deep navy with blue pearl / Deep forest green with lime pearl (Limited Edition)

Ouch. $152 for 8 products. Roughly $19 each. *wince* I sure hope some of these can be found duped in other brands of lesser price.

    • Lizzy

Just cut down your list sweety. I’ve been trying to dupe MAC for years- and the only way is Urban Decay, who rips off MAC es colors and charges more! And they don’t do Beauty Powders or Mineralize.

NYX has a few contenders at a good price, but the quality is not always the same. That’s why we buy MAC.

The very best solution I’ve seen? While biting the bit waiting for Hello Kitty my 8 year old niece thoughtfully put Badtz Maru stickers on all my Dazzleglasses. My best colors in Really Special Packaging! Since nobody thought much of real Evil Girl coloring (NC15, ash brunette/ silver hair) in the choices here I may do my own Lucretia Borgia Collection…

      • Jae

Now that I’ve seen more photos, my list will be cut down dramatically to 2 lipglasses and 2 of the duos. Those are prices I can deal with a lot better.

…hmm, stickers on plain makeup containers.

  50. Claire

loving this collection only down side is the packaging its horrible ugh can anyone please tell me what date is this coming to america in september

  51. izabela

I am soo excited for this collection 😀

  52. Lizzy

The stuff I really want isn’t even in special packaging! Piggies and nail colors are great but no Meanies on the front?

I wish there was Sea Witch. I thought she was great! But most of this is Ho Hum stuff, I mean there isn’t a red lipstick I want here! Villians and no great reds? Will we ever see Queen’s Sin again? And I’ve been wearing Violetta all summer as it’s been Happening! By Fall I want a New Thing, and with my coloring coral isn’t it.

    Oh well. Boring packaging anyway.

  53. I’m so Not into this packaging. I wish MAC would’ve done a Disney Princesses themed collection or something cute and pretty instead. I will skip this collection just because of the packaging alone.

  54. Shannon

Well at least we can still get the nail polishes without shame. I hope I’m wrong though. But I do have two questions I’m sure someone will know… what exactly is a beauty powder for? And does anyone know what this magically cool liquid powder business is all about? Sounds interesting and I’ve never seen this before!

  55. Sheryl

Don’t like the packaging; though I AM lemming for the mineralized e/s duos and the lipsticks.

  56. m0rg3nst3rn

I work for a big company that works with Disney and many other companies and know for a fact that you have to use only what Disney gives you. As with most companies, they own the rights to the images and they have a say in what you can and can not use, s the imagery on the packaging is definitely not MAC’s fault. At work we have to push and beg the brand for images sometimes, it’s really sad.

Anyhow. I will wait to see some of these when the swatches come out or I can touch and see them in person, there are only a few that I see myself getting so far.

  57. Verity

Who cares if its a sticker? Its a cool sticker!! And its still far better than the normal dull packaging. Its not like they hike the prices up for special packaging so I don’t really get why everyone’s complaining TBH.

  58. amara

what are the marine lifes and stereo roses of this collection? (items that will sell out in a few hours :) )

    • Not sure yet… I don’t think anything is that coveted in this launch, but most items will sell quickly (though I don’t think hours). But I could be wrong.

I think it really depends on how many Disney collectors are buying this.

  59. Jazmine

The only things I’m looking forward too are the beauty powders. Nothing else really interests me other than the “magically cool liquid powder”. Whatever that is? o_O

  60. Olivia

I think the package is good, it’s nice to see a bit of change from MACS black packaging! Does anyone know if.we will get our Pro Discount?

    • Michelle

No. Because its not MAC’s black packaging, the texture is different and it is still limited edition packaging, I dont think Disney would allow that anywyas lol cuz they are already increasing prices

  61. Katrin

I AM SO EXCITED. This is my very first LE packaging collection from MAC and I’m loving it all except…. The DR. FACILIER part.!! I didn’t like the movie and I don’t like the collection! The only thing I want from there is RESORT LIFE!! :) But thats a re promote so it doesn’t count! :) my basket is at around 330$ so no more MAC for me until maybe the Wonder Woman collection in 2011 but maybe MAC wil come out with something interesting till then!:)

  62. I am really annoyed that they raised their eyeshadow prices. MAC has such a loyal customer base and it doesn’t feel like they do much to reward and show appreciation for their customers. I have long bee a loyal MAC devotee, but between the constant new collections, limited addition products that there never seem to be quite enough to go around of, and now yet another price increase, I’m starting to wonder if my devotion is bordering on silly/irresponsible. I love MAC, but this just really bothered me!

  63. I don’t really care that much about the packaging.
Since when did the packaging become more important than the actual product?
Seriously, are you going to wear the packaging on your face?
    No, you’re not.

  64. Dee

Packaging is so blah but the products sound promising! The beauty powders and Heartless and Violetta are on my list!

    • Dawn

I believe Violetta is permanent. Get it now before the price goes up if you’re not worried about the ‘special’ packaging

  65. ari

OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE the lipstick and the matte blushes ! And I’m looking forward to seeing if the nailpolishes apply how they look in the bottle cause if they do I’m all over it :)

  66. If you hear a high-pitched squealing, that is me, in Florida, being SO EXCITED. I love this.

  67. Victoria N.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH I cant get over how much this packaging sucks! It llokslike MAC applied Disney stickers on the black packaging and called it good, it has such potential

  68. Megan

I am so excited to see the swatches of this collection. Love Disney and MAC!

  69. Tacky packaging! But can’t wait for you to swatch it!

  70. I am wayyy too excited!!!

  71. stephanie

i love everything in these collection except the eyeshadows

  72. Pearl

Not happy with the packaging. MAC could have done better but the products themselves in this collection look interesting enough. Might get some eye shadows and lipsticks. Would like to see some Disney villain inspired looks though.

  73. cmferret

thanx for posting a sneak peek at this collection christine! i cant wait- i am going to get everything, minus some repromotes. i still hate the packaging and wish mac put their own spin on it-like the cool illistrations in the promo pics. but oh well , i love mac and i love disney.
since when are mac e/s, l/s and l/g all 15$ now? i hope its just for this collection, since its le special packaging and not the standard from their on. but damn , wth! dont they know we are in a recession too!

    • cmferret

im still kinda urked that they choose dr. falicer , as the last character and not choosen ursula! i mean u already have 3 girls, why not add 1 more we all know , instead of a guy we arent familier with.
im most looking forward to trying is the mineralized e/s, the nailpolishes and magic cool liquid powder-that sopunds interesting!

    • I’m not 100% sure if it’s part of the annual price increase or if it’s due to the collaboration with Disney.

  74. I noticed you linked to me. Thanks! I added a link back to you as I love how you did a breakout of the collection.

    All the best,
    Andrea Claire

  75. Mia

Say what you like about this collection being disappointing, but I think that the nail polishes look absolutely amazing. I just hope that the duochrome shows up on the nail.

  76. Nicole

man, the prices are so expensive now. not even that huge of a fan of the packaging. probably a pass for me. but gotta love it right?

  77. ida

I just hope that these aren’t stickers like Fafi

  78. omg i want everything.. packaging.. ehh kinda tacky.. but i know ill get sucked in.. i gotta start saving NOW!

  79. I love the packaging! I want the Evil Queen one : ) The nail polishes and eyeshadows I’d actually wear

  80. Kathryn

Ugh, I hate the packaging. Totally not what I was expecting. Though, the Magically Cool Liquid Powder sounds interesting. And all the nail lacquers sound awesommmme!

  81. Kathy

Well, from what I see in the pictures, the only things that caught my attention are the nail polishes and the eyeshadow duos.

  82. Lily

I’m only interested in the Cruella De Vil lip products.

  83. Diane

I am really disappointed in this collection. There is nothing I can say that I am really excited about getting.

  84. LNU

The mineralize e/s and evil queen beauty powder look nice!

  85. they should’ve gone with disney PRINCESSES :)

  86. Jen

The colors are nice but the cartoons on the packaging makes it look tacky

  87. Jessie

I’m totally getting a the Mineralize E/S….they look similar to the Style black MES. Im not crazy about the packaging though :( its not bad, but it could be better-

  88. Jennifer

OMG the Evil Queen corals, the duo shadows, and nail polishes, and the purple plum lipsticks omg want!

  89. Cheyenne

I love ALL those eyeshadows, but once I see the packaging I feel ‘disgusted.’ Idk….the whole packaging turns me away from this line!! BUT I LOVE LOVE LOVE these eyesshadows. I need to learn how to depot and real soon!

  90. audrey

I wish they did some kind of red detail over the black!!!

  91. I have never been so excited for a collection like I was about this one but then I saw the packaging… SOOO DISSAPOINTING! & nothing really stands out to me at all I doubt I will be getting anything..

  92. Shawna

  93. GinaB

I think that the sketchy designs that are in the background in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th picture would have made really cool packaging. i’m loving the “de-vil” eyeshadow. What a gorgeous copper!

  94. To die for Christine! I’m sving up as of now. I’m getting every piece.

  95. Kathylulu

Some of those are tacky while some of them ain’t, they’re hit and misses I think. Overall very disappointing though, I’m glad to safe some money.

  96. Lina

They raised the prices again? Great..

  97. Bianca

what a pile of crap this collection is.
so boring. nothing stands out. maybe want 1 eyeshadow.

  98. Maria G.

-_-‘ Honestly, who would want any sort of makeup with Dr. Facilier’s face on it. Its just not really attractive whatsoever. Like others have brought up, couldn’t they have done Ursula or something instead of him. Shame. But I have to say, Im more than excited for Oh So Fair & Briar Rose Beauty Powder 😀 Mainly for the packaging lol.
And Bite of an Apple Blush sounds wonderful. Better save up now :)

Is it just me… or does Briar Rose have the EXACT same description as SUMMER Rose from Rose Romance/Liberty of London?

I hope it isn’t the same in person… because I want my Maleficent beauty powder, she’s my favorite Disney character of all time! But I can’t justify buying it if it’s just like something I already have….
