Cool Eyes

MAC Cosmetics Trip II Collection

Launch Date: April through August 2009 at Duty Free Shops (at Airports)

Launch Date (Updated): Now available as of March 23, 2010 online at MACCosmetics.com.

Hi all!  MAC has put the Trip Collection online for sale — this collection is not new.  It was originally released in Summer 2009.  It consists of permanent or previously released limited edition shades, but there are no new or exclusive shades to the collection.  It is available ONLINE ONLY at this time.  If I have swatches or a review available, you will find the collection that the shade was from originally linked.  Might be a good way to snag some old LE shades you missed out on if you’re newer to MAC :)

  1. Stephie

I have to wonder if these are going to be the palettes that MAC offers during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. These look like that format, and the pricing is around what they would charge.

  2. yes, I want the bronze eye-cheek palette.

  3. Lix

Ummm, what?? This stuff better be available online at some point otherwise I’ll be really upset. :\

  4. Jenna

Does anyone know how I can find out where the MAC Trip collection will be sold? Is it ALL duty-free shops? Are there MAC outlets in airports? Will the MAC items just be on a shelf in any random duty-free shop? I’ll be traveling soon and I’d just hate to end up scouring all the dfs’ at the terminals and not find the whole collection!

  5. *lisa*

The cool eyes and the bronze face palette looks interesting.

  6. aradhana

i just recently got the warm eye palette…i love it! i was hoping to get the cool one as well, though the LHR mac didn’t have it in stock yet.

  7. cmferrets

do u know if they will sell them in arizona or california?

  8. Ellie

i love the classic eye/cheek, and all the eye pallets. im for sure going to ask for some of these for my birthday.(:*

  9. I live about 2 hours away from an airport, and I’m not planning on traveling anytime during the summer up until August :( Any suggestions where I can get a hold of these pallets?

  10. Brightness

These are so super cute…makes me wanna go out of the country just to get it. Maybe they’ll show up in the CCO’s.

  11. Kelsey

Gr, I’m travelling in October, I’ll miss this collection. :(

  12. cmferrets

thats silly for mac to have their customers to pay for a ticket, just to get a mac pallette.! we should be able to just go in and pick it up , or have it at nordstrom or mac website or stores! im pissed, b/c their are some great colors!

  13. aradhana

if anyone is interested in buying the 5 warm eyes palette and can’t make it to the airport…

  14. Dominique

My mom just came back from a flight from London and was able to pop into the duty free MAC at Heathrow. She totally scored for me! She got me the cool eyes palette (last one!), and one of each of the lip palettes because she couldn’t remember which one I wanted. I really like them. I really like the warm lips one even though I didn’t think I would.

For those wondering, you have to be taking a flight somewhere in Terminal 3 I think it is, to be able to enter the duty-free area. You have to have a boarding pass and everything as they will ask you for your flight number. My mom’s flight number is on the receipt.

  15. emily

hmmm does anyone know how i can find out if there is a duty free shop in the airports ill be traveling in? thanks so much! sorry to sound dumb lol

    • I think you can try Googling “duty free shop” or looking up the airports you’ll be going through. Generally, you have to be flying out of your country to qualify.

  16. mlou

So hoping Cool Eyes palette hits a CCO in the coming months. Well, one of the CCO’s within driving distance. Love SpringtimeSkipper&Waternymph

  17. Lindsey

    good thing im traveling friday!;)

how much are the palettes? and do you know which airports get these?

  18. question

in Gatwick (UK) there is mac ?

  19. OK, now I need to look where the MAC duty free shops are. I’m going to Tokyo in early March so I hope I can find some of this stuff!! I really like the

  20. Ellie

I totally want the bronze eye/cheek palette, but only for Eversun..

  21. Argeleen

    Launch 2009?

  22. Daria

I was wondering if the warm palette ( the pinks) was being re released in this March 2010 launch bc I didnt see it online…:(

  23. Dana

OMG these comments are painful. These products are available on mac.com. You do not have to go to the airports and duty free shops to get them, as stated in the description above.

    • Hi Dana,

Please check the date on the comments :) Many of these comments are from the original post, which was posted way back in April 2009!

  24. Jennifer

I just ordered the Coral Lips set. I don’t have those lipsticks (as I understand they were released previously, and I only got into MAC and Corals last year …Amazing right?) , and I needed a new PRRR… Although I’ve spent a whole lot on my moms card and my bum is gonna get whipped. Oh well , MAC is worth it.

  25. Kara

Thanks so much for this update with the links to your previous reviews!

  26. Amy

definitely NOT gonna buy them online! i will wait for my flight in May and then will check them out at the airport :)

  27. Daria

Christine, do you know if the warm palatte will be launched?

    :) Thanks!

  28. lauraaaaa

smut is the best e/s ever

  29. amy

Both the warm eyes and cool eyes look very pretty. Water Nymph is gorgeous.

  30. Casey

I want these! I had no clue they were coming out. What a nice surprise…now I have to scrape up some $$.

  31. Wow! I’m loving the neutral eyes palette. I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes open for these next time I’m at the airport. What a great way to get some adventurous new colours without paying a bundle for a bunch of them.

  32. Wilcoa

I didn’t luck out when the sets came out last year, which was a bummer since the palette I got for my trip sucked, so I’ve been trying to find/make one that works better…. so this makes things very easy! 😀

    Thanks for the update Christine!

  33. Tiffany

    I don’t see Warm Eyes online :(

  34. Traci

well after wanting it when it originally came out, and thinking about this for the past 2 days, I caved and bought the bronze eye & cheek pallet, and the cool eyes pallet! Can’t wait!

  35. Maria

Did you ever d swatches on this collection?? Cant seem to find any??

  36. jillo

What I find strange is that I just went to the Mac Canada site ( http://www.maccosmetics.ca ) and saw them for sale on the sight. Maybe call mac and see if you can order them…it is worth a shot.

  37. The Classic Cheek & Eye Palette, Cool Lips Palette, and Warm Eyes Palette are not on the site?

    • Those probably sold out while they were available a year ago — normally duty free palettes and the like go to CCOs, but I guess they’re testing out demand seeing if they can sell the palettes online at full retail rather than immediately marking down any leftover stock!

  38. Rita

I have the Neutral Eyes palette, and it gives an awesome golden neutral look, go for it!

  39. cmferrets

good! bout time mac finally has these duty palettes online so people who dont go to the airports alot can buy them! thankyou!

  40. Andrea

Wow I’ve never seen these pallets in Duty Free before. A good way to keep all your favourite eyeshadows in one place or for MAC newcomers to get their hands on some shadows.

  41. Samantha

Why is everybody crying about not being able to get something because they are only on duty free shops/airports..these are available online hello!!!

    • Hi Samantha,

Please note that this collection originally released a year ago at Duty Free Shops exclusively, and many of the comments on this post are from a year ago–so please check the date.

  42. Cherie

How cute! I am a sucker for a palette!

Christine – I am having problems between cool eyes and neutral eyes… or both… Recommendations? I have always wanted Springtime Skipper and Waternymph but already have Knight Devine… Is it worth it?! After typing this I think I am 99% sure of neutral eyes so that leaves the question as to cool eyes??? Hmm… I’m brown eyed NW15 in MAC.

  43. Jessie

They don’t have the warm eyes palette online =( only the neutral and the blue one.. do you already have the lipsticks in the pink lips? Can you swatch those? Do you think it’s worth getting? Thanks for the pictures!

  44. GAO

OHHH!! I want the Cool lips pallette! It’ll be wayy easier to carry! :)
HAHAHHHA!! but I dont know why its not up on the mac website! : (

  45. Sarina

    On the Mac website
they have brush set for 50?
Is it as good as the one you get seperately or they just don’t care and make it bad?

    thanks for Info.

  46. Mirna

    Hi Christine,
Thank you so much for doing this. I can narrow down what I like based on them being permanent or not. Really appreciate it 😀

  47. lovepotion18

looks like the mac website is not selling the warm eyes palette =(

  48. Mara

I wish this’d come out in the Phils… so badly… I really want the Classic Eye and Cheek Palette as well as the 3 Pink Lips *tear tear*

  49. Andrea

Hey Christine, I was wondering if you could tell me how Eversun might look on light-medium toned skin? I use MAC’s studio finish concealer in NC 20 for blemishes and redness, but not sure if my skin is actually cool or warm toned.. I’m afraid that Eversun might end up looking orange on me?! I hope you can help!

    Thanks :)

    • I think Eversun would be pretty, and I don’t think it’d be too orange on you…

but you can find out if you’re cool or warm by looking at the inside of your forearm. If your veins are greener, you’re warmer; if they’re bluer, you’re cooler. If you can’t tell, you’re neutral!

  50. spider

    Hi there,

I love your site and always use it as my first reference for MAC releases!
I just wanted to point out a couple mistakes, in case you want to correct them:

    1. Sable is a Frost finish
    2. Flashtrack is not a permanent eye shadow

    Keep up the great work!

  51. Talkingshoes

    I love this color palette!

I saw this really great tutorial on Youtube where they use colors in these shades!

  52. Cat

so will it be in duty free shops?
because i went on the mac website and under collections and this didn’t appear anymore.

i really want the brush set and neutral eyeshadow palette.
