MAC Trend F/W ’09 Collection Review: Lipglasses
MAC Trend F/W Collection launches in-store today across North America locations, and the collection includes four lipsticks, three lipglasses, an eyeshadow quad, and a fragrance.
Lipglass
- Runway Fave is a creamy nude with gold and pink shimmer that goes on semi-opaque but still sheer enough that your natural lip color will pop through. It’s pretty, but it’s probably a shade you have something similar to already.
- New Berry is a darker berry with just a touch of burgundy to it that looks lovely and very holiday. It would pair well with Hipster lipstick for sure. It does have a tendency to settle into the lines of your lips, but I find that it’s not really noticeable in-person so much as it is when in photos that are magnified! I like that it’s fairly opaque–not solid to be sure–but opaque enough that it gives me plenty of color.
- So This Season is a red-based purple shade that looks more intimidating in the tube than on. It is definitely a darker shade and casts purple, though. For those who want to try a vampy lip, I actually think this might be one way to go, because it’s sheerer and softer than many purple lipsticks that have come out for fall. Like New Berry, this one can settle into lines on your lips, but again, in person, the effect is not so noticeable.
I liked the lipglasses more than the lipsticks this time around! I felt like all three lipglasses were pretty and wearable, but they also are perfect shades for the fall season. I also appreciated how pigmented they were, even Runway Fave, because I tire of sheer glosses easily. New Berry may not be a must for those who already have indulged in red and berry glosses before, but it’s a nice, non-shimmery shade.

Recommendation: I think So This Season is a must, just because it’s different and fun. The other two are nice, but not as necessary!

So this season and New Berry looks like they would look nice for spring too. At least for me anyway, because I love to wear berries year round.

They’re already all out of stock for a couple of week on the French Mac website. I can see why! Too bad I didn’t see any swatch of “New Berry” before it get sold out.
They’re lovely. 6 or 7 years ago, I was wearing a similar shade made by agnès b. A very nice color to wear.

I already ordered So This Season and Faultlessly F/W a few days ago. But now I really want New Berry and Runway Fave. I don’t really have anything like them. Thank God I can easily dupe the quad.
New Berry is very pretty! Runway Fave is a nice nudish pinky shade. Like it’s something you may already have, but it’s a good version of the nude-pinky gloss if you don’t
Pretty much the only nudish gloss I have (other than Dazzleglass ones) is Young Thing and that looks more peach beige I think.
Oh yeah, definitely, Young Thing is more of a warm, peachy nude. LOL, the nuances make them different!

Runway Fave looks similar to Personal Taste, but the other two look interesting, especially New Berry.
I’d say it’s a lot less pink than Personal Taste, but I can see some similarities!

Runway Fave is one of those shades that’s really practical and looks pretty, but doesn’t necessarily catch one’s eye!
I just picked up New Berry today, but I’ll think I’ll go back to get the other two! I’m very impressed with these.

Nope, actually! New Berry has a lot of redness to it — so it’s more red than Quick Tease (which is kind of a mauvey plum berry) and Jampacked is more of a deep purply-wine with just a bit of red. I think Jampacked is darker than New Berry, too!

You may have paler lips than I do, which might be why! I’d say to just put less on or mix with clear gloss.
so this season looks like it would be a nice shade but it looks like it creases on the lips too much

No problem! It’s much redder and more opaque. Sweet Strawberry was kind of lighter and had more of a pink-berry tone to it, IMO.
Runway Fave Lipglass is what i got – the other two are a little too dark for me
