Lipglasses: Rock Out, True Babe
MAC Riveting Collection: Lipglass Review, Photos, Swatches
Lucky for your pocketbook, there are only two lipglasses to take a look at from MAC’s Riveting Collection: Rock Out (officially described as a light icy silver with pearl) and True Babe (officially described as a creamy mid-tone bright blue pink). I don’t think neither are must-haves in the sense that unless you’re drawn to one of these and you don’t have something similar at home, you don’t absolutely have to have these too.
- Official collection details/promotional imagery: MAC Riveting Collection.
Lipglass ($14.00 U.S. / $16.50 CDN)
- Rock Out is a sheer, silver shimmered gloss with a very sheer, kind of whitish-silver color base. I didn’t find it all that wearable on its own, personally. It reminded me of an older limited edition lipglass–Lightning–as well as more recently released She-Zam dazzleglass (from holiday ’09). Obviously, since it’s a lipglass, it has a totally different texture and feel than a dazzleglass–it’s thicker, stickier, cheaper (and you get more), and lasts longer (because it’s stickier).
- True Babe is a creamy, rich bright pink with cool blue undertones. It’s like a cooler, more fuchsia version of Pink Poodle lipglass. I can’t think of any immediate dupes off the top of my head, but I know MAC has released quite a few hot pink lipglasses in the past few years. What’s nice about this one is that the coverage is nice and opaque, and despite its creamy look, it doesn’t settle into lip lines as much (and is not noticeable from normal viewing distance–aka, not 10x magnification of my lips!).
What do you think? Either of these for you?

It's limited edition, but you could see if Pink Poodle lipglass is what you like, 'cause that's permanent.
Hey Christine! Do you think the color of True Babe can compare to the color of the lipstick in Pink Nouveau?
i wonder if True Babe is going to be similar to Loud & Lovely coming out with "Too Fabulous" collection...what do you think? i'm so torn ! I want a bright pink gloss , but not a "bold" one...maybe I'll wait for the new cremesheen glasses!
well, these may have dupes in other l/e collections or in the regular line, i don't have those, so i figured i'd take a chance on both... first time i've ordered on line
True Babe is gorgeous and so opaque! But I prefer Lipsticks and these lipglosses usually make my lips a raspberry red because of my lip's pigmentation.
Is True Babe similar in colour to Stila's Lip Enamel Luxe Gloss in Giggle? Which one is brighter? Also, which one do you think is better overall?
Kind of. I'd say this one might be even cooler-toned. Stila's seemed brighter to me, but I like the formula of lipglass better.
I am not a fan of the Lipglass formula at all, but holy crap I NEED True Babe. It looks so opaque and creamy... so, so pretty!
Rock out reminds me of jingle jangle (I think) from the holiday collection. Very pretty though. and the pink is really nice.
True Babe is a gorgeous pink :) I was planning on passing up this Riveting, but I may check this lipglass out.
True Babe is very nice, the other one, neh...... SO Christine does MAC now send u all collections for review now. You're so lucky
those...are gorgeous! how does Rock Out compare to the She-zam dazzleglass? I have She-zam, and this kinda reminds me of it.
Rock Out actually does look very wearable on you Christine! It's sheer and it's not crazy and tinsel-y! True Babe looks good on you too though, even I may go and try it on once Riveting comes out to London, UK.
Will the riveting collection only be available at selfridges in the UK as this is what I have heard from mac artists or will it be available online aswell ?
Pretty! Rock Out does remind me so much of my beloved She-Zam dazzleglass and I have two backups of them lol
