MAC Ravishing
MAC Ravishing Lipglass, Lipstick, Nail Lacquer

MAC Ravishing Lipglass, Lipstick, Nail Lacquer

MAC Ravishing Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.10 oz.) has been such a top-seller that it has now inspired a Lipglass ($14.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) and Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) to complement it. This shade is part of the Asia Pacific region of the collection, so it will only be available online for North American buyers. Ravishing is described as “mid-tone neutral peach.”

The lipgloss is a smidgen lighter and pinker compared to the lipstick, which has more orange in it and comes off brighter. The nail lacquer is just a bit more orange; it doesn’t have any coral or pink tones to it–just a barely-dusty orange. When the lipgloss is layered over the lipstick, the end result is a lightened medium orange with a hint of coral to it. You do have to be careful to apply this well, because the lighter gloss can look really obvious if it’s not blended well!

Ravishing Lipglass is a darkened coral-orange with soft white micro-shimmer. It has semi-opaque color coverage, and it does settle into lip lines a bit. NARS Happy Days is similar but a little dirtier. MAC Strange Potion is lighter, pinker. MAC Whoops! is darker. MAC Viva Glam Cyndi is a little brighter. (8.5, 9, 8.5, 8.5, 4, 4; B)

Ravishing Lipstick is a medium-dark coral-orange with a soft shimmer-sheen. It has a Cremesheen finish, and it is part of the permanent range. The color coverage is opaque. It has a slightly drier texture, so it does tug a bit when it is applied–it just doesn’t glide on effortlessly. Chanel La Ravissante is much darker, but it is in a similar vein. CoverGirl Rapture is a bit darker. (8, 10, 8.5, 8.5, 4, 4; B)

Ravishing Nail Lacquer is a medium orange with a subtle dustiness to it. It has a cream finish that applied opaque in two coats, though the initial coat was a smidgen streaky. MAC Morange is brighter, more intense, darker. Nails Inc. Porchester Place is very similar. Illamasqua Gamma is brighter, more vibrant. (9, 9, 9, 9, 4, 4; B+)

MAC Lipsticks are vanilla-scented but taste-free. Cremesheen finishes like Ravishing typically wear three to four hours on me, with this kind of color wearing about three and a half. I’m not a huge fan of the Cremesheen finish, because I find it drier, so it’s more difficult to apply evenly, and it is also drying over time. MAC Lipglasses are also vanilla-scented but taste-free. They are very sticky and have a thick, borderline-goopy consistency. If you prefer gel-like, cushion-y glosses that feel lightweight on, I don’t recommend MAC Lipglass. Because of the tackier texture, MAC Lipglasses do tend to wear a full four hours on me, with some of the darker shades lasting up to six hours (with mostly the color lingering at that point).

Note: I am reviewing each “set” together. After I’ve reviewed all sixteen sets, I will do round-ups for each product type (so all lipsticks together) to deliver an overall Glossover rating. This rating is more indicative of the product type, as the rating that follows this post is an average across three totally different types of products. You can also see the individual scores listed after each product, which are listed in the same order as they are in the Glossover.

MAC Ravishing Lipglass, Lipstick, Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

B+
This doesn't read "peach" on me; it's more orange, more orange-coral at best. It has strong, warm undertones, so I also wouldn't describe it as neutral! This set is just okay; none of the three products are top notch in quality.

  1. I like the nail polish!

  2. Did you get any sleep, Christine?  On a high note, your eye make-up looks fab throughout the photoshoots :)

  3. Dr Melissa

    Looks great on you!

  4. MSPMSP

Would you say that Ravishing is a much tamer version..or more wearable shade compared to Morange/Good-to-go? Or is my comment such a silly comparison because they’re from a totally different color family? LOL :)

  5. I love LOVE LOVE the color of the lipstick. I’m obsessed with it. But it breaks my heart that it’s really very hard to apply on me personally. I’m a makeup artist so I know a couple of things about makeup and I apply it to others no problem. If I apply it to my lips as is, it looks grey-ish because I have a brown tone on my lips. If I apply concealer underneath, it just gets streaky and weird looking. Hate that.

I gotta have this lipstick, very intrigued by the gloss as well. :) Don’t know about the polish yet lol.

  7. newyorkcandygal

Wow! It looks so good on u!!!

  8. properlybright

i can see it as peach!  i love this one!

  9. TheAmanda10

Ok I love the lipstick, again the gloss isn’t making me say “OH I NEED THIS”. So I would’ve left the gloss and loved the lipstick. And the nailpolish is sweet but I don’t like the price.

Would you say that this is a much tamer..if not, a more wearable version of Morange/Good-to-go? Or..am i just making a fool of myself because they are completely from a different family of shades? LOL. That one looks soooo pretty, looks just right for day-time looks. Razzledazzle however looks so plain, it’s like you’re not wearing any lipstick at all. Ravishing is defenitely the better coral shade between the 2 IMO

    •  @MSPMSP I mean, they are definitely very different, but if you like the idea of an “orange” but can’t go with Morange and co., it’s a nice way to work your way to it!

  11. Angelica Cano

I thought the same till i tried it its fantastic im so happy they have a matching lip glass cuz ive been usingit with pink lemonade i think its great for those of us a lil darker xD im half pinayyy 1/2 mexicanaaa n im kinda dark but i love ittt if anyone uses teint idole the new 24 hr one and are close to the shade 450 suede (n) try iiit XD

  12. Deb

I was a bit worried about ordering the lipglass before seeing swatches, but I’m so glad I did. It looks very wearable and less jarring than the lipstick. I love corals and peaches and can certainly do oranges with my colouring, but I don’t think they’re entirely age-appropriate now.

What I find odd is that we have the same colouring (although my hair is more of a chestnut colour) but for some reason, lipsticks always look brighter on me than they do on you. It must have something to do with the pigmentation of our lips. So if it’s bright on you, it’s crazy bright on me!

Looks fantastic on you, but I sure could not pull that shade off!  Completely gorgeous on you, though!

  14. very pretty and better than *yawn* razzledazzler
