MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme: Part 2
Here’s part two! Next up, a preliminary overview of the texture/feel and recommendations.
- Overtime is a pale light-medium pink with subtle yellow undertones. It seems like a (just barely) lighter version of Creme Cup, paler version of Angel, and pinker version of Hue. I felt like this one didn’t flatter lips as much as others — it kind of looked drying, even though it didn’t feel that way. This is a cream finish.
- Perpetual Flame is a rich, fuchsia raspberry. The closest permanent shade would be Impassioned (without the iridescent fuchsia sheen), but it’s not too similar. This is a cream finish.
- Prolong is a bright, cherry-ish kind of red with slight blue undertones. It’s brighter and not as ruby red as Extended Play. Seems a bit lighter than Russian Red and has a slightly frost sheen, also similar to Ruby Woo but with weaker blue undertones. This is a cream finish.
- Sweet Ever After is peach-brown with lighter peach micro-shimmer. Darker, browner version of Honeyflower, less coral Jist. This is a frost finish.
- Till Tomorrow is a muted, dark pinky-nude. Kind of like a darker, slightly muted Modesty.
- Unlimited is a medium pink with subtly cool undertones, but it doesn’t lean too blue at all. It’s a darker version of Chatterbox. This is a cream finish.

Product & Review FAQ
Where can I buy these? When can I buy these? How much are they?
Online at retailers like Nordstrom, Macy's, Dillards, Bloomingdale's, maccosmetics.com, or in-store at MAC Counters (e.g. Nordstrom, Macy's) or MAC freestanding stores. They are available online now and in-store on September 16th. They retail for $16.00 each.
Are these permanent?
Yes.
Are you going to review the Pro Longwear Foundation and Concealer?
Yep, I sure am -- but these require a longer testing period, so it will be a few days before I'm ready to render a verdict!
What shades would go with my skin tone?
Check out the overall/review post that also includes recommendations by skin tones here!
Can you Back-to-MAC (B2M) for the Pro Longwear Lipcremes?
According to MAC Livechat, you cannot B2M for these.
I fell in love with Till Tomorrow's swatch and bought it recently. But on my lips it's more brown than that gorgeous pinky-mauve I thought it would be... saddening!
I must say that since I saw Till Tomorrow on you I got obsessed about it! Now that I finnaly bought it, surprise surprise: It gets brown on my lips! Really! I don't know what happens because my skin tone are just like yours! Now I'm mixing Till Tomorrow with Captive to get a little close to rosy brown. But still... I wanted the color on the swatch SO BAD!
Hi there! What a wonderful website you have! I was wondering if I may borrow some of your pictures for my blog? I'm from Sweden, and yet I havn't seen any swatches from swedish blogs. It would be great if I could borrow these to show all the sweeds this swatches. I would link to this post och give you all the cred, ofcourse. Carry on the good work! =)
hi! is LOVE FOREVER similar to Girl About Town? coz i have Girl About Town though Love Forever is long wearing...
oh thanks christine....lastly, how about PINK NOUVEAU and GIMME THAT? is it almost similar to LOVE FOREVER?
As stated in the review of Love Forever, it is very similar to Pink Nouveau. Gimme That is a lot pinker, less blue in it.
Your swatches are awesome.I have one question if you don't mind me asking what camera do you use to take these pictures.I am looking for a good camera too take pics with and yours look amazing.
Hey Christine, I love your blush you have on in the photos with the Lipcremes. What is the name of it?? thanks!
Colors are really beautiful.. but they look darker on me! Perpetual flame it's like my old "hold on" Rimmel infinite colour (I like it anyway )
Do you think Sweet Ever After is anything like the Bare slimshine that was discontinued? If it isn't, do you have any suggestions? I'm looking for a good MAC dupe for it, thanks!!
I've been searching for the perfect nude baby pink, would you recommend overtime? Or which other mac lipsticks would be a good option..? Since my lips are much darker pigmented than yours (medium pigmented, probably?) I don't know if "Angel" would even cover with a light or pale look. :/
Nude baby pink, nah. It's pretty much just pink. I might say something like Honeylove or Velvet Teddy - maybe blotted or sheered - because it would almost neutralize your lip color and not be too nude. I'd worry that any "nude baby pink" on its own might just turn out pink if you have pigmented lips.
Christine your gorgeous , these shades look great on you ! Which of these colors : Till tomorrow, Unlimited and sweet ever after would suit tan skin the most in your opinion ?
I don't like the packaging, reminds me of stick foundation, and the tops of lipstick look sawed off not smooth or bullet like... does that make sense haha. I love when lipstick is new and smooth looking. the colors are great though. Till tomorrow is pretty, classy looking.
Oh, I would say they're two different shades entirely - not similar at all. Hug Me is much more nude, a little peach.
Christine; is Love Forever! very similar to Petals & Peacocks from the Give Me Liberty of London collection?
They're definitely similar! Here's my Petals & Peacocks swatch - http://www.temptalia.com/mac-give-me-liberty-of-london-lipstick-reviews-photos-swatches Love Forever! seems a little more muted (not by much) and possibly not as purple.
I'm definitely going to get Til Tomorrow when this is released in the UK, as I find most nudey shades are too pink for my skintone. However I am quite shocked that in the original press release MAC describe the colour as 'Grey mauve brown (Cream)', seriously how wrong is that?!
Hi Christine, I just chatted with MAC rep online and her response to my question if the Lipcreme's can be back 2 MAC: "No, you can recycle the empty Prolongwear Lipcreme packages themselves, but you can not get them for Back 2 MAC". Hope this helps!
