MAC Please Me Nail Lacquer, Lipglass, Lipstick

MAC Please Me Lipglass, Lipstick, Nail Lacquer

MAC Please Me Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.10 oz.) has been such a top-seller that it has now inspired a Lipglass ($14.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) and Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) to complement it. This shade is part of the Latin America/Middle East region of the collection, so it will only be available online for North American buyers and at select Macy’s. Please Me is described as “mid-tone warm pink.”

The lipgloss is just a smidgen lighter compared to the lipstick in color, but they have similar undertones. The nail lacquer also matches fairly well, though it appears to have stronger yellow undertones, so it appears warmer in comparison. When you apply the gloss on top of the lipstick, what happens is you get a slightly lighter pink–not quite as light as the gloss on its own, but it’s not as dark as the lipstick alone. The two work together well without causing unevenness or streaking.

Please Me Lipglass is a light-medium pink with warm, yellow undertones. It yields opaque color coverage with a mostly even application and slight settling into lip lines. I couldn’t think of a dupe for this shade. The closest I could think of was MAC Splashing, which is darker, and it almost looks gray-ish in comparison. (9, 10, 9, 8.5, 4, 4; B+)

Please Me Lipstick is a light-medium creamy pink with subtle yellow undertones. The finish is supposed to be matte, but it has a noticeable sheen to it, so it looks more semi-matte to me. It has a matte finish and is part of the permanent range. The texture is very creamy; it’s one of MAC’s better matte formulas. Giorgio Armani #507 is a little darker. MAC Mehr is a little darker, browner. MAC Chatterbox has a stronger yellow undertone and appears a bit darker. (9, 10, 9, 8.5, 4.5, 4; A-)

Please Me Nail Lacquer is a medium pink with yellow undertones and a cream finish. It’s opaque in two coats, but it did have some slight streaking in the initial coat. I used a thicker second coat, which helped cover the majority of the streaks. MAC Angel is very close but lighter. Rescue Beauty Lounge Pepto PInk is cooler-toned. (9, 9, 9, 9, 4, 4; B+)

MAC Lipsticks are vanilla-scented but taste-free. Matte finishes like Please Me typically wear four to six hours on me, with lighter shades like this one wearing around four hours. MAC’s matte formula can be really nice to work with, but sometimes they can be on the drier side (often described as a “retro matte”), but Please Me has a creamier, less dry consistency that glides on more readily. MAC Lipglasses are also vanilla-scented but taste-free. They are very sticky and have a thick, borderline-goopy consistency. If you prefer gel-like, cushion-y glosses that feel lightweight on, I don’t recommend MAC Lipglass. Because of the tackier texture, MAC Lipglasses do tend to wear a full four hours on me, with some of the darker shades lasting up to six hours (with mostly the color lingering at that point).

Note: I am reviewing each “set” together. After I’ve reviewed all sixteen sets, I will do round-ups for each product type (so all lipsticks together) to deliver an overall Glossover rating. This rating is more indicative of the product type, as the rating that follows this post is an average across three totally different types of products. You can also see the individual scores listed after each product, which are listed in the same order as they are in the Glossover.

  1. I like this one, not too blue-toned not too warm-toned, this is a pink that could work on me.

  2. IlariaDiva

I have this lipstick and I find it absolutely gorgeous – it’s pretty matte on me and it tends to make my lips a little dry if I don’t moisturize them well before applying, but all in all it’s a lipstick I could NEVER live without. ♥

Great color!! Love this !! :)

  4. AlexandriaMazan

How would you say this combination (the lipstick and lipglass) compares to MAC Angel? ox

  5. There is something so subdued and yet very pretty with this group.  I have the lipstick somewhere in my stash, but it isn’t in my high rotation section because I think the matte quality put me off a bit with it’s flatness on my face.  The lipgloss makes the difference for me!

  6. farra

How does this lipstick compare to the viva glam gaga lipstick?

  7. Sue

This shade of pink looks really lovely on you! Alas, another pretty pink that won’t be available in Europe. :,(

    • IlariaDiva

It is available in Europe indeed, I live in Italy and I bought it. :) Oh wait, are you talking about the gloss and the polish?

  8. dana

    perfect barbie pink color

  9. Amanda

Do you think this would work on really pale, cool toned skin? We’re talking like less than NW15.

    • jilliant

or try MAC’s lovelorn – it’s like the ever so slightly cool toned version

I am NW15 myself and I am wearing it at this very moment. At first I was not too sure about it, but it works quite nicely with my make up and clothes :)

How will this work on nw30 skin tone? Thanks!

    •  @TMBJessxox I think it could work!

    • donsurez92

       @TMBJessxox
if you are a warm tone yellow undertones will always look good on you ! people always say to with foundation if u have pink why get a pink foundation and look even weirder or yellow and get yellow foundation sometimes people see what they have so much of they u=just get a neautral foundation. if u have more yellow or orange your warm skintone and if you have more blue or pink you are a cool skintone i hoped this helped

  15. donsurez92

@Christine (Temptalia)  are you sure chatter box even has a yellow undertone when u go on mac and click to enlarge the lpstick it’ll tell you the undertone and chatter box says – red pink which is good for cool skin tones when u say chatterbox is yellow your kinda making the cool skintone people not want to try cause they think yellow is warm tone only and i love chatterbox just saying even please me says muted rosey-tinted pink so idk where you get yellow from you should do a blog on the differen e between yellow and blue and i always come on here so im just letting you know cause i know makeup and i know forsure chatterbox looks good on my cool skintone and with no yellow what so ever yellow is like the viva glam nicki , compare them youll finally know the diff between yellow and blue tone lipstick

I got this set today, I have to say there is a lot of sophistication in this nail lacquer. It’s not up my usual vein of colors, but whenever I look at my nails (like while i’m typing this) I can’t help but thinking of some very sophisticated lady with class. Btw I’m NC45 and the set works great on me, makes me look polished.

  17. Lois Lane

Hi Christine! I’m glad that you make a review for it. It’s actually my favorite lipstick because I’ve been looking for a perfect nude lipstick. I’m NC25 but there are times that it looks dark on me and I have to put NC20 concealer. I believe that I have neutral undertone but some nude lippies look dead zombies on me. When I found this, I cannot believe that it’s nude pink on me! And I love it. I also got Cherish but it’s more brown in me rather that nude and that’s odd.

Hi, while I was searching for ‘Mac Please Me’, it occurred to me that this website owner has reposted your entry as his/her own without crediting you. You might want to take not of it.

I have this lipstick and I’ve worn it a LOT. I’m NC15-NC20, and on me it looks quite deep, not very light at all like it does on Christine! It just goes to show how much of a difference skin depth and tone makes.

    • Leizel

I’m an NC 25-30, and this looks much deeper on me. I agree, this lipstick does look very light on Christine. I reckon her lips are naturally pale, which allows for a truer-to-the pan effect – which I wouldn’t mind having since it looks so pretty on her!
