MAC Me Over Lipglasses in Good Times, Illicit, Social Light, and The Wee Coquette
MAC Me Over: Lipglasses
There are seven shades of MAC Lipglass ($14.50 for 0.17 fl. oz.) launched with MAC Me Over. They include: Curvaceous (light grey pink), Good Times (pale mauve), Illicit (creamy neutral pink), Plum Fun (neutral plum with purple pearlized pigments), Social Light (neutral pink with pearlized pigments), Spite (muted plum taupe brown), and The Wee Coquette (naked neutral pink).
- Curvaceous is a milky pink with just a hint of plum. It has a creamy, milky appearance, so it can take some patience to get even coverage, though the opacity of the gloss is mostly opaque. It is similar to Illamasqua Move but Curvaceous is less pigmented.
- Good Times is a pale, milky pinked mauve. The lightness of the color combined with the milkiness does make it a gloss that settles into lip lines. The color itself is mostly opaque. It is more opaque than MAC Going Casual but much less pink compared to MAC Splashing.
- Illicit is a peachy-beige with white micro-shimmer. This is a repromote. I found this one difficult to apply in an even layer of color–it just settles into lip lines and looks quite uneven, which is also due to the general thickness of the formula itself. It is less pink compared to MAC Lust, less coral compared to MAC Pretty Quick!, more peach (but less even) than MAC Jest For Fun, similar to (but less even) than MAC Frankly Fresh,
- Plum Fun is a berry-tinted red with gold shimmer. It has nearly opaque color coverage. NYX Burgundy is redder. NARS Bougainville is very similar, though it is a touch darker. Dolce & Gabbana Vibrant is pinker.
- Social Light is a pink-brown with multi-colored shimmer. It’s an interesting shade, because it looks browner in the tube and swatched, but it emphasizes the redness in my lips when worn. This was, however, the 11th or 12th lip product I swatched. When swatched, it resembles MAC Spree, but it’s a touch less brown. It is less coral compared to MAC Wildly Refined.
- Spite will be reviewed when I am able to purchase it, but my local stores are presently sold out of it. This is a permanent shade.
- The Wee Coquette is a pale, milky blue-based pink with white shimmer. This is a repromote. It is less opaque and glossier than MAC Enchantee.
MAC Lipglasses are sticky, vanilla-scented, and wear longer than most glosses (because of their tackiness). I get between three and four hours with lighter colors, and some of the darker shades will wear four to five on me. The formula is very thick, though, which can make getting an even layer more difficult. Additionally, when the hue is very pale, creamy, or otherwise milky-looking, the unevenness is more pronounced.
MAC Me Over is a 51-piece collection for fall, which will launch in North America on August 25th, 2011 and internationally in September 2011. It will launch online approximately August 23rd but there is no concrete online launch date. All products–unless otherwise noted–are limited edition.

The Glossover
I generally don't mind MAC's stickier, thicker Lipglass formula, but a couple of these felt more gloppy than just thick on. The milkier shades are better over a lipstick, because it will help minimize the unevenness in the gloss layer more.

I kinda like Social Light. It's got that tiny super frosty metallic shimmer look... I dunno how it'd look on me, but that kinda finish really makes me think of winter. Plum Fun is beautiful. The other ones would look much better over a lipstick or on someone with lighter lips, in my opinion... The Wee Coquette looks like it could be absolutely lovely. ~
I don't really see the big deal about "Social Light". I love "Plum Fun" though, it's a def must have for me!
Plum fun is a doable tempting winner. The rest are F's. Across between "got milk?" and "I just took a Swig of pepto!" Social light is nice, too. I will say if people like this shade range, the little L'oreal lipglosses that are always on sale at walgreens hit this on the head and with even, nice application. They're the ones with the oblong, squarish gold caps. For awhile they were $2.49. That being said, in the full face shots Christine, you still look beautiful. But it's a case of you helping out the lipgloss. Should be the other way around.
I'm glad you swatched Plum Fun and Social Light. I had my mind set on Plum Fun,but now i'm getting Social Light. The Plum looks red!
I love the color of Social Light but I wish it weren't so sparkly. I have Viva Glam VI and it looks really similar to Social Light. Plum Fun looks awesome, but dupable.
Oooh, I love Lipglasses (I almost never wear lipstick!) and Social Light and Plum Fun look amazing! They're also colors I don't have yet... I may need to try and get these.
The darkest shade is the best. People complaining about the sticky texture have caused MAC to tone down the pigment in these, and those look awful. :( I prefer the original Lipglass. All of mine go on evenly with good pigment.
Social Light was OK, didn't wow me, especially for the cost. The others were horrible swatched and on. I'll pass.......
Overall, I'm really disappointed with this collection. From the promo pics I thought *everything* (kinda wish I was exaggerating) was going to be fantastic... What a let down :(
Curvaceous looks alright but I absolutely DETEST the lipglass formula. And I'm a lipgloss kinda girl! I'm glad Illamasqua has a suitable dupe - I've been meaning to try their glosses, so I'm adding Move to my list :) IMO Social Light looks kinda...boring. Ladies, you'll face no competition from me for it XD!
Can you back to mac for limited edition items--i'm thinking if they're the same price as regular items its ok...? social light looks promising. I keep telling myself not to buy anymore mac glosses because i never end up reaching for them in my collection.
It depends on the store - some are fine with it, others are not. I know that it's usually not allowed if it's in special packaging (which this isn't), but I'd still double-check with your local store!
I absolutely love the look of Curvaceous. I can't wait to get it--it just looks like such a nice wearable pink!
Yuk! What happened to the pigmentation? MAC Lipglasses are known for the semi-opaqueness. I do like the Social Light. It would work well as a summer lipglass since my lips are so pigmented. Thanks for the swatches, Christine.
Hey Christine I have quite pigmented lips.. Are good times and wee coquette similar enough to get only one if so which is better??
they look really pretty on you christine, regardless of the milkiness/uneveness up close on swatches!
Ditto, your skin looks poreless! I'm pretty disappointed with the glosses though, with such a big collection I was hoping for something more impressive
Huh. I had Illicit when it originally came out years ago, and it was one of my favorites at the time, but I remember it looking MUCH more pink and glistening than this version? (and more opaque)
these all look gorgeous in the tubes, but social light is the only one nice enough on the lips, and I will be passing on these anyways.
