MAC Illustrated Collection + Nordstrom Exclusives

Three renowned illustrators transform classic M·A·C makeup bags into mini masterpieces. Julie Verhoeven’s bold colours and outright wit come alive, featuring an array of abstract faces swept with vibrant hues. François Berthoud’s intricate flowers convey pop art chic in fluoro-brights. Nikki Farquharson ’s design is a graphic, bold hand-drawn black-and-white pattern, hit with swirls of red and yellow. Available in two sizes—one scaled for just necessities, the other for total beauty. Limited Edition. M·A·C Store exclusive.

  1. Wow! The makeup bag (itself) with the set of lip stuff is ADORABLE. It’s really creative and unique… I think I might pick one up just for the bag!! lol

  2. MakeupObsessed

When do the Nordstrom exclusive brush sets go online???

  3. as far as the products are concerned, these are just repromotes, correct?

    •  @wwendalynne There are some new shades – there are a lot of repromotes/permanent products, but some are new as far as I can tell!

    • Brjsmom

@wwendalynne The purple smokey eye kit has new shadow colors, I got it and wore it yesterday….very pretty! The black smokey eye set is all permanent shades. I think the pink and red lip sets are new colors and the rest are permanent shades.

  4. Joanna

The only design is like is François Berthoud’s – graphic, yet botanical.

The Nikki Farquharson design reminds me of a Peter Gabriel vest!

  5. paneradfisk

The Nordstrom brush sets are usually crappy… Why is this?

    •  @paneradfisk The brushes are machine made vs. hand made.  The way they manufacture the brushes in brush sets is different than full-sized brushes!

      • AbigailOD

@Christine (Temptalia) So Christine, do you think it’s worth getting the brushes in sets, even if I’m willing to buy them individually anyway? If so, which set do you prefer? For now, I only have 190, 188 and 150.

        •  @AbigailOD I’d buy them individually – I would pretty much never buy a set!

        • jilliant

@AbigailOD not christine, but i got two mac brush sets as i was just really getting into makeup, and they’ve helped me decide what individual brushes i’d like to buy.

I’ve had them 2-3 years, and while the face brushes (like the 187 and 129) are crappy and shred city, the eye brushes are good.

        • divinem1

@Christine (Temptalia)  @AbigailOD I bought the All Over Face, not for the brushes but for Julie Verhoeven’s design. Absolutely love it and will put my own Hakuhodo brushes in it. :)

        • AbigailOD

Thanks for sharing your experience jilliant!

  6. Alana Wilcox

This looks like such an awesome collection. I love the bags, but can’t justify the cost. Maybe I’ll give into a lip bag ;)

  7. Kisha Mason

The lip bags are totally worth it. I got peach! And the plum smokey kit

  8. WHY do I want the lip stuff so badly? Oof. Can’t decide which color range I want…and man, I want those bags. Eek!

  9. StephanieT

I took a look and I didn’t like anything in person :( . I wonder why we already have this and electric cool in Canada.. We don’t usually get anything except from French brands before the united states does… Especially not Mac, they usually come out the same time!

  10. Liz

In Canada this isn’t MAC store exclusive, I think it’s exclusive to The Bay.  It has been out at my location since the Heavenly Creature release.

    • StephanieT

@Liz Yah I thought that was weird. I like the bay because if you ask the right person they give you pieces from
New collections before they’re released. I got my guerlain Emilio Pucci stuff far before it was put up, I think in march I got it.

  11. Eluvscupcakes

Can anyone tell me if these brush sets are any good? Or should I just save up for the regular ones?

    •  @Eluvscupcakes I haven’t tried these, so I can’t say they are or aren’t consistent with past sets – which weren’t so good.

      • Brjsmom

@Christine (Temptalia) @Eluvscupcakes The brush sets are the usual mediocre quality…..but the roll is way cute and the brushes are fine for travel:)

  12. The eye sets look promising, and seem like they’re a good value. Are the pans full sized?

  13. VernLovesMac

@Christine (Temptalia) Are the Nordstorm exclusives in Nordstrom stores or at Nordstrom.com or both? I can’t seem to find them online.

    •  @VernLovesMac They’re only available to Nordstrom cardholders or Fashion Rewards members (something like that) for now – July 20th is the official start of the sale.

    • divinem1

@VernLovesMac  @Christine (Temptalia)  I called a Nordstrom out of state, placed an order and gave her my credit card number. She will pull all the items I ordered (provided they are still there at 8am) and call me to confirm the order and ship it to me. Don’t let eBay rip you off if you are intensely interested in this collection, which I am and don’t have access to a Nordstrom in my state.

For those interested in getting any of these sets who don’t have Nordstrom card or are Fashion Rewards members, I called a Nordstrom out of state, placed an order and gave her my credit card number. Just bought the pink yesterday @ Nordy’s. Really pretty, especially the gloss. To me, their glosses rock. Other than Chanel, the best colors with the best texture & pigment.
