MAC Cosmetics Fall Trend F/W '09 Collection

MAC Cosmetics Fall Trend F/W ’09 Collection

As designers deepen their fascination with all things architectural, from Raf Simon’s structural dresses for Jil Sander to the futuristic, constructed ‘pod’ shoes that we saw at Balenciaga, so too goes the modern face.

The shapes and steely colours in this collection are an expression of the trend, an ode to the strength of a woman, rendered with true architectural precision. The geometry of eyes in graphic, graphite tones of grey with the beguiling blue sheen of an elegant grid of sky-reflecting windows on a stunning concrete skyscraper, Trend F/W ’09 is a living tower of power! Lips are dark or seductively nude. The fragrance? Asphalt Flower, a limited-life scent as bold and urbane as the modern metropolis.

  • Asphalt Flower Glossy violet and iris petals cast an ebonized sheen over dark clouds of vanilla and patchouli like a shimmering lace veil this scent caresses and envelops of glamour and drama. Top note: violet, ylang; Mid: iris, heliotrope; Dry: olibanum, patchouli, vanilla.

Our Pick under Runway Fave (lined with Chestnut lip pencil) = beautiful IMO for my NC45-NC50 tone.

Tone: Grey quad is amazingg! I’m wearing it right noww.
I tried the Asphault Flower, and it smells like rbbing alcohol kind of.
    hmm

I got “Red Full Stop” lipstick yesterday in the mail.

I love the color, but I will say be careful of how many layers you apply or you will have neon coral lips lol

Also the name does fit. In person I can see the reddish tone to it in the tube and even on the lips. It isn’t a red lipstick obviously, but red is in there. And Full Stop well it is your one full stop to bright coral lips!

Side note I thought it would work with photorealism shadow and nars orgasm blush and well I was wrong lolz …I’m going to have to use it with a brown eye.. And put on Angel or Made with love for my photorealism look today.

Love the grey-beige & blue-black tinted glosses, and the grey lipstick. Runway Fave seems lighter than Mac’s Chai, but with shimmer, so maybe less flat, murky. Easier to wear. (But I adore Chai!) The new dazzleglass cremes look nice, but I will not buy. No matter how pretty they are, the tubes are unwieldly.

I got Faultlessly F/W, New Berry, and So This Season. I’m on the fence about the quad (I love the greys, but the blue looks too similar to Deep Truth, and I don’t really like A Warmer White), and I haven’t decided if I’ll get Hipster. I like Our Pick, but I don’t think it’d work with my skin color. Maybe I’ll try it on next time I’m at MAC.

I picked up the Quad, its very versatile to throw in your purse – can glam up a simple look or throw on something for the day to day! Love it! All the lip products are very pigmented and gorgeous but I have a million l/s and l/g so I am trying to buy less of those!!

B2Ming for Red Full Stop today! I’ve always loved corals, and after seeing Katy Perry pull off bright coral, I want this even more. I definitely want to try on Hipster as well. I loved the color when I saw it, but I have yet to try it on.

I got the tone grey quad and I’m not too impressed with it. Seems dupe-able. I’m debating on returning, what do you think??

after reading ur review of the quad i think ill be passing on it :) thanks christine :)

I have the original and the current edition of Asphalt Flower. Although similar, the original definitely had more depth to it. However, it could be because its almost 10 years old. It also had more of the violet scent and a lot less vanilla. The new version seemed to have more of a soapy smell, less musky than the original. I do have to say that the packaging this time around is much better being in a roller ball vs a tiny vial. The vials came in a 3 pack and could be placed in a vial holder that was worn as a necklace. I have one, but never used it, since it looked kinda odd. HTH! =)

I agree with a lot of people in terms of the quad. Its very, very blah. One of the worst Ive seen in a while. The only thing I purchased from this collection was Red Full-Stop. Despite the fact its a lustre, which Im not a fan of really…I actually really like it. Its opaque enough to avoid problematic layering, etc. Additionally, I find that it looks best without an obvious lip liner.

I have a tube of Faultlessly F/W and I LOVE it, I was wondering though, is it limited editon? I’m fairly new to buying MAC so I don’t know how long the collections last. Would I still be able to buy another tube?
