MAC Cosmetics – Cool Heat Preview Swatches

Date: June 5, 2008 - Posted in: By MAC Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, MAC Launch Reviews, Summer 2008

Thanks to MAC, I was able to try out three (Warm Chill, Blue Flame, and Climate Bleu) of the seven upcoming shadows and two of the four (High 90s and Swelter) (five?) upcoming slimshines from Cool Heat!  Of course, you know I had to get photos and swatches as soon as I got my hands on them, right?

Check out more photos…

Oh please, ‘Blue Flame’ looks just like bell bottom blue pigment pressed, but without the glitter. And BBB was extremely similar to Blue storm pigment. When are MAC going to stop recycling so many of their colours?
    ‘Warm Chill’ looks like Waternymph.

LOL, I know right? That so aren’t foolin’ me anymore. I love the collection promo pics but seems like these eye shadows are lacking originality.

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

I haven’t pressed it, but they are similar, regardless. I think Waternymph was more teal? I can’t remember, lol.

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

It really is a great color! I personally wish it was a frost or veluxe pearl, but oh well!

how similar is blue flame to deep truth? or is it a better texture?

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

They’re similar, I’ll post swatches tomorrow!

  12. Erin

    Thursday, June 5, 2008

The colors look gorgeous. I’m trying to avoid getting Blue Flame because I have Deep Truth but it looks gorgeous. Warm Chill barely showed up on your skin!!!

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

Thanks, Erin! Deep Truth is similar enough that you could pass on Blue Flame probably!

I know, Warm Chill just didn’t take to my skintone!

Climate Blue & Blue Flame look pretty nice!

    • Christine

Climate Blue is really gorgeous in the pot, and I’m eager to see it in a look!

Thanks, Christine. These are neat. What are your impressions?

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

Hey Jen! I’m so-so thus far, but we’ll see, I have an opportunity to use them in a look before I need to make my full review :) I do love the slimshines, though.

    I thought I commented already :(

    • lala

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

      oh yeah :)

will it look nice on warm skin tones??

      • Christine

        Thursday, June 5, 2008

        Yes, it definitely will, Lala!

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

Hey Lala! As it stands right now, no! It hardly shows up on me, but I’m going to use it in a look tomorrow with a normal base, so I can see how that works then!

Was it hard to get Warm Chill to show up?

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

IMO, it took several passes to get it to show up like it did in the swatch for me. I’ve seen it on other people and it looks glorious. I’m hoping when I use it in a look, it will show up better!

    Thursday, June 5, 2008

mmm… I’m definitely getting Blue Flame! Gorgeous :)

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

    Blue Flame looks gorgeous!

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

It’s a great color! Easily dupeable, but oh well. Still pretty for those who don’t have enough blues yet :)

  20. Vivien

    Thursday, June 5, 2008

Is Warm Chill worth the buy? It doesn’t even look like it will show up enough?

    • Christine

      Thursday, June 5, 2008

It hardly shows up on my skin, and I have to pack it on. I am going to do a Cool Heat look tomorrow, and I am hoping the green will work out better with a base!

How do you think Climate Blue compares to Electric Eel? It looks a cross between that and Love Bud to me. Is it a must-have?
In your lip swatches, did you have to layer on High 90’s or was it a pretty smooth and thin layer?

    • Christine

      Saturday, June 7, 2008

Love Bud is really light purple, isn’t it? I never bought it, so I’m going off of a very stale memory, lol. It is so gorgeous, though – it is incredibly pigmented, and I can only think of Jeweltone (LE) as the closest dupe.

I applied High 90s no more/less than a regular lipstick (which is probably one or two passes).

    Hi Christine!

I’ve been starting my mac and other brand makeup collection and I’m loving it! But I seem to be running out of room for my eye shadows lol..do you know where I can purchase mac cosmetics palette pan? A few of those will help. Thanks!!

    • Paula

      Saturday, June 14, 2008

The MAC pro store and I believe a freestanding store, both sell the 15 pan empty palette.

    • Christine

      Saturday, June 14, 2008

Hey Kayla! You can purchase palettes at freestanding and PRO stores – if you do not have one near you, you can always call and have them ship it to you.

I was unsure about climate blue but it looks so unique. WHat is the texture like when you apply it?

    • Christine

      Monday, June 23, 2008

Velvety. It swatches kind of chalky, but on, it’s more like velvet.
