L'Oreal Primped & Precious Infallible Eyeshadow
L’Oreal Primped & Precious Infallible Eyeshadow

Here’s a Silver Lining for the Holidays

L’Oreal Primped & Precious Infallible Eyeshadow ($7.49 for 0.12 oz.) is a metallic silver-gray. Giorgio Armani #22 is similar–a smidgen darker (less pigmented, actually!). Buxom Chihuahua is similar but is a cream shadow. MAC Silver Sleet is darker, more intense. Inglot #448 is a touch darker.

To complement Gold Imperial, Primped & Precious is the cool-toned, silver equivalent.  It’s just bright enough to be silver, but there’s enough gray in the color to keep it from being too stark or metallic.  When applied dry, it is a bit sheer and crumbly.  When applied damp, it binds together much better and delivers richer payoff.  When I wore this, it lasted for ten hours without fading, creasing, or suffering from fall out.  (I did have some fall out during application when I tried using it dry.)

Primped & Precious

Of the three new (and limited edition) holiday Infallible Eyeshadows, this one was the weakest. Silver is not an uncommon color, so you might want to opt for a stronger formula.

How would you say this compares to UD’s Strip? I’ve been looking for an inexpensive dupe! Thank you!!

  3. blueraccoon

This seems very similar to Liquid Diamond maybe?

  4. Michaela Degenaro

MAC Platinum or Titanium pigments and Kryolan Silver Aqua Color are my go-to silvers.

Love these reviews of drugstore products; it means I can pop downstairs and get my hands on a color right away if I think I’ll like the product! Thanks Christine! Just wondering, how does this compare to Flashback Silver? It’s also a L’Oreal Infallible, and it looks almost the same in the pot.

Well, now I feel a bit better about passing it up. It is a pretty silver, but I’m sure I can find a similar shade somewhere in my collection.

  7. Alisa

this kind of reminds me of the silver shadow from my tarte for true blood palette..its hard to really be ceratin though, that silver is also really bright and more of a grey as well

I like this silver- but then I have incredibly different coloring than C. and have worn silver for years. I find Liquid Diamond to be blue purple toned. Lovely, but a different color.

My go to silvers are MAC pigments, but this is easy to take with. And I now have the true MUJ drive to own every color, lol.

Very much like an Ice princess…nice but I would prefer a Chanel Illusions d´ombre.

  10. Leenie

I would wear this in my makeup look for the holidays…Pretty color
