Looks – Super Soft Spring Look using Dior’s Pink May Quint

So I finally decided to do a look using Dior’s Pink May Quint from their Spring 2008 collection, which is awfully pretty look at. It really does work well with the spring palette, but considering how rainy it has been, I felt like I needed to darken it somehow. I decided on darker lips, which was a mistake, as they were just too dark and too reddish/burgundy for this look. Next time, I’d opt for pairing it with a medium-dark pink instead. The lip color was cool, just not with this look. I even tried to fix it, but no luck – only way to do it was to take it all off (which I hate to do!).

I used Soft Ochre paint pot all over lid, Dior Pink May Quint light peach on inner lid, Dior Pink May Quint light warm pink-purple on middle of lid, Dior Pink May Quint dark purple on outer lid and crease, Clue eyeshadow on outer crease, Dior Pink May Quint light white-gold above crease and on brow, Feline kohl power on lower lash line, and Dior Pink May Quint light white-gold on lower lash line. I wore Petalpoint blush with Micro Pink beauty powder to highlight and Sculpt sculpting powder to contour. I had Wild ‘Bout You lipstick with Crystal Rose lipglass on my lips in the first set. In the second set, I added Negligee lipglass and Backlit 3D glass.

your lips are modeling that lip product perfectly (sticks tongue out!!) so tuff!! cookie miss perfectionist (runs and giggles).. I love the color scheme…even though it looks similar (what do I know) to the n collection theme from what I’m seeing…and the look you did w/ the “pink” and that was perfecto!..so yeah I like thid look on you…but maybe the other was warmer I’m guessing?!?…or is really the lipstick?!!? (confused).

Thanks Lala! It’s only because I’ve taken so many lip pictures, ha!
The other one was definitely warmer, as this is more of a cool palette. :)

Hey Christine! I don’t think the lip looks bad at all in the darker color. Maybe it’s different in person, but I think it looks great with the eye makeup.

Well, thank you Shefali! :) It just seemed like… TOO DARK and too bright for an eye that was very soft and kind of frosty.

i actually love both, and would wear both.

do u think soft ochre is a base that could be used with any color?

Definitely, Tricia!

I like it, I think it would work even better if you lined the upper lids.

Hi Mariah! Unfortunately I can’t line my upper lids without irritating and inflaming my eyelids.

Gorgeous as always :-DDDDDDDDDD
the lips are to die for.
i studied psihology today, and i read that there are 150 different colors in the world, they have various dark-light shades,so 7 MILLION colors on earth.
our eyes are playing with our brain, and the light causes this difference…
so i was wondering how much would it cost to have all 7 MILLION colors in MAC eyeshadows :-D

I love it! The lips do seem a *bit* bold for the eye. However, I don’t think it looks bad at all. I really love the lip combo & could see you pairing it with a deeper purple eye. The eye is gorgeous – very spring-y, makes me want this rain to go away!

Thanks, Ariele! I’m happy to hear it didn’t look QUITE so bad as I thought it was. I think it might be that the eye is SO SOFT and light, that it’s too light for a bold lip.

You have beautiful lips!! the lip colour looks amazing! I love it.

I LOVE THIS. Can’t believe you didn’t like the darker lips with this, I think it makes the look. I like them both ways, darker, and when you lightened them a bit.. made the look cooler and “sweeter” looking, darker lips made it “hotter”, more ‘night out’ look. Love it both ways. :)

Thanks, Mikella! I guess they were TOO dark for me – maybe just a few shades lighter would have suited my fancy more.
But I’m glad you liked them!

That’s great! I’m so glad you picked it up – how do you like it so far?

I must say that I LOVED it !!!!!!!
I am wearing glasses, and I noticed that shimmering colors makes the eyes look bigger :) I apply the palest color over the eyelids (on powder/foundation, I do not use a base, so it makes the colors look a bit toned-down), then I apply the darker tone in the crease and contour . I am a beginner in blending, so i start little by little hehe :) I use 2 colors together so far :)
the result is really natural, with a “there is something she did to her eyes but what?” feeling :)
So many thanks again! :)
