Looks - Simple Neutral Matte Eye

My boyfriend asked me, “Why don’t you do more matte looks?” So fine! Here’s a matte look! I probably don’t do matte looks often because until I got Soft Ochre, I could never find a matte-base that I liked enough. No excuse now, I guess! The only that annoys me is Blanc Type photographs poorly - it looks a lot whiter than it does in person (in fact, in person, you can hardly tell!). Boo! Anyone else had that happen to them?

I used Soft Ochre paint pot all over lid, Blanc Type eyeshadow on inner lid, Soft Brown eyeshadow on middle of lid, Brun eyeshadow on outer lid, Copperlate eyeshadow on outer crease, Blanc Type eyeshadow on brow, Grain eyeshadow on lower lash line, Blacktrack fluidline on upper and lower lash lines, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. I wore Margin blush with Dior Amber Diamond SkinShimmer to highlight cheeks. I had Mari-sheeno lipstick (LE) with Dejarose lipglass (LE) and Cult Fave lipglass (LE) on my lips.
** These are recommendations for dupes based on permanent colors available — may not necessarily be identical; they are the closest I can think of!
Mari-sheeno = NO DUPE; Dejarose = Pink Poodle; Cult Fave = Cultured

This is really pretty. I can’t believe your boyfriend even knew what a matte look was. My boyfriend bought me Pharoah and Otherwordly paint pots the other day at CCO. Later on, he saw Mutiny and Chartreuse pigments sitting out and couldn’t understand why I needed the paint pots if I had those pigments. Oh, boys!

Thank you, Kristen! :D LOL, the boyfriend is responsible for the majority of the tech-side of Temptalia, so he’s had no choice but to learn!

This is so classy and elegant!
Copperplate and Blanc Type are two of my absolute staples, they work anytime. Blanc Type doesn´t show up that white on me, but I think that is because I´m NC15, so it is almost the color of my skin anyway :)
That Mari-Sheeno is really gorgeous, I´m glad I found one on ebay, it is worth the expense!

Love this look! I have a question about your liner and waterline. Are you using Blacktrack fluidline on your waterline? If so, how long does that stay on? I ask because other liners I have tried end up in outside corner of my eye just below the lashes…making me look like my eyes are drooping. :(

Thanks, Judy! It stays on several hours for me, but my eyes do not water TOO much.

There might be in another brand, but nothing by MAC really works :(
Thanks!

Oh Mari-sheeno. I’m very lucky that my MAC still has it in stock. Gorgeous as always. I wanted to do this for my graduation but I realize that I don’t have a lot of neutral matte eyeshadows :/

Man…I’ve wanted to see you do a matte look…and one that’s neutral too! This reminds me a lot of the look I had for my wedding, because the makeup artist used a matte off-white colour on my lids, a brown inthe crease and a shimmering white-gold on my brow bone…it was sooo pretty…didnt photograph well all the time but i loved it! Didn’t know matte shadows cud be so pretty until that moment! LOVE IT Hon!

That looks nice and normally I hate matte finishes. Could you name Satin Maccies eyeshadows to create such a wearable look? Thank you.

looks beautiful! Blanc Type does that to me too. Great job blending, because i’ve had a heck of a time trying to get Blanc Type and Copperplate blended, even over Painterly. Copperplate just will not blend when used with another Matte2 for me!
Christine

Thanks, Karrie! Soft Ochre makes these blend a lot easier, though they are harder than the average shadow!

I am really diggin’ matte shadows right now, so thanks for this! :) I never realized how stunning matte looks could be until the Matte2 shadows came on. I love them all so much. Also, Soft Ochre is the perfect base for any matte look. You talked me into getting the p/p and I have not regretted it since! :D
“Mari-sheeno = NO DUPE.” Heh heh. Luckily you’ll likely never run out of that one since you have so many back-ups, eh? ;) I love it too.
Christine
Sunday, June 29, 2008
No problem :D What are your favorite matte shadows? Soft Ochre is the only paint pot I really use - LOVE IT!
I think I have three or four backups, and LOL, I’m still on my original!

Thanks so much for doing this look - it’s one of my faves and I’ve finally got all the shades that were used. I was wondering how you used Brun? Mine comes out extemely dark both on the brush and the lid, almost black! I’ve blended and blended but it’s still too dark in comparison to yours.
Thanks again for posting this look, gorgeous as ever!

It’s my pleasure, Carina! I’m so glad you were able to give it a try. I use Brun really, really lightly. If you find it’s still too dark, maybe give a lighter brown a try - like Swiss Chocolate or the whatever you have on hand :)
