Look – Neutral Hello Kitty Eye with Lucky Tom Palette

Date: Wednesday, February 11th, 2009 Author:

Easy look today. I was actually only putting on makeup because I wanted to snap a picture of my hair ;) I originally paired this eye with Strayin’ lipstick and Nice to Be Nice lipglass from HK, but I wasn’t feeling it so I swapped it out. My head is aching something fierce this morning, so I think I’m going to grab some food and cases to read and lay down for a bit. Perhaps snooze a lil’, since I didn’t get much sleep last night!

Hope you’re all getting through your week :)

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Creme Royale eyeshadow (pale yellow-gold), Lucky Tom eyeshadow (dark brown-black), Bisque eyeshadow (matte highlighter), Her Glitz glitter eye liner (antique gold), Urban Decay 24/7 Stash Liner (antique gold), Plushlash mascara (black)
  • Cheeks: Fun & Games blush (peach)
  • Lips: Cute-ster lipstick (sheer pink-gold shimmer), Mimmy lipglass (medium sheer pink with gold shimmer)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Creme Royale = Nylon; Lucky Tom = Brun; Her Glitz = no dupe; Fun & Games = Springsheen; Cute-ster = Politely Pink (?); Mimmy = Enchantress

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre all over the lid as the base with the 249. Apply Creme Royale eyeshadow all over the lid with the 239 brush. Darken crease with Lucky Tom eyeshadow using the 239. Sweep Bisque eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Stash Liner on lower lash line, Her Glitz Glitter Liner on lower and upper lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Fun & Games blush using the 129. Apply Cute-ster lipstick to lips, and then top with Mimmy lipglass for color and shine.

(This is Strayin’ lipstick/Nice to Be Nice lipglass… didn’t complement this look.)

Very nice look! Though I have to say I wasn’t in love with the Lucky Tom palette when I saw it in person last night.

  2. Shanel says:

i love the look christine! like always :)
btw; can you back-2-mac for the HK lipsticks?

Thanks a lot, Donna! Her Glitz is gorgeous!

    • Kathleen McG says:

I really LOVED this glitter liner but I have reflects antique gold and I wore it over a brown fluid line and I swear it looks exactly the same! The reflects set in the eyeliner and didn’t come off (or even fall out) until I took it off that night!

  4. Rose says:

Love the second lippy and i love your short hair. it frames your face nicely!

  5. Angie says:

Looks good, although your enabling the Lucky Tom palette some more. Not really, but I guess I just waat a reason to buy it XDD. I don’t think it looked bad with Strayin’ but it looks better with Cute-ster.

  6. MissTiss says:

Love it. That’s very similar to the look my MUA put on me, but she used Fresh Brew and Nice to Be Nice liglass. I would never have put the two together but it was a beautiful lip combo. Almost made me want to buy it.

  7. Katrina says:

i’m really glad to see the HK lipsticks and lipglasses use on a look. this makes me want to buy them all :)

  8. DevilishDoll says:

I really like this look too. I guess Her Glitz is going on my list of wants. Cutester and Mimmy look really pretty together. I wonder what Cutester would look like with She Loves Candy.

  9. lala says:

I love this look Xtine!! <333

wow! fun and games really looks like springsheen??? (I have that blush so YAY!!).

  10. Jenn says:

i really like this look, now i want the glitter liners

  11. I love the eyes! And I am definitely buying Her Glitz asap after seeing it here!

  12. Chrissy says:

I almost bought Her Glitz and now I wish I had. I may have to make another MAC visit. :)

This look is gorgeous by the way. I think if you had gone with a pink based blush, then your first lip combo would have looked fine.

    • Christine says:

You definitely gotta get it! It’s gorgeous.

Thanks! Yes, I agree – if I went with Tippy, it would have been fine. I had used Tippy the look before, so I wanted to use Fun & Games, LOL.

  13. Anitacska says:

I’m not loving the eyes if I’m honest (the liner’s nice, but the e/s looks dull – sorry). Loving both lips though, very nice.

  14. Brittany says:

i love the natural look!! and i love those glitter liners they are so much fun, little pricey but last a long time!! gorgeous

  15. My-Linh says:

    You always look fabulous! *jealous*

  16. Emily says:

Very nice! I’m glad I ordered that palette, the lipstick and gloss. BTW, your site is wonderful. I like the fact that you analyze products, swatch products and provide your opinion instead of just copying and pasting the product promo info. You obviously put lot of time into this site and I hope something great comes your way (jobs etc) as a result! Thanks again.

  17. Andrea says:

    I really like this look!!!

  18. Kat says:

Ooh, very pretty. I like how it’s totally wearable (to class, work, etc.) but that pop of glitter liner is WAY fun. Gorgeous…as always *sighs wistfully*
    Thanks for posting :)
Oh, and your hair is lovely!

  19. Kristin says:

  20. hippo says:

loving your new hair (haven’t seen a photo of you in awhile may not be that new)

  21. Milan says:

Lovely look! I’m going to have to try it. I miss your “closed eye/looking down” full face pics you used to take. That way we can see the dimension of the shadow on your eye. Thanks!

  22. Lingping says:

That is a very nice look! I just about decided against getting any of the eyshadow quads, but this is making me reconsider :) and my resolve to get Her Glitz is strengthened :)

  23. Angi says:

Oh, this is totally making me rethink this palette. It comes out at the counter here tomorrow and I’m going to swatch it for sure.

  24. Lina says:

OMG, this is such a cute look on you! I didn’t get the palette b/c the purple scared me. But it looks awesome on you. Just might convince me to go and get it.

  25. ashley says:

Absolutely gorgeous! I love your eyes here, the liner looks stunning especially. Love it!

  26. Tami says:

I definitely love this look and am excited because this is one of the first looks you did that I have a majority of the items you used. I can’t wait to try it out:-)

  27. Marieke says:

    Oehw I love this look..
Although the Strayin’ lipstick/Nice to Be Nice lipglass isn’t the right liplook for it, I still love the lip combo!
    CiaoOo Marieke

  28. lisa says:

    Love this neutral look.

  29. verybecca@gmail.com says:

  31. Jessica says:

  33. selena says:

    hi christine!

are cute-ster and mimmy worth buying? i already bought nice kitty and she loves candy :)

  34. Meilily says:

Christine, this look is very pretty!
The glitter liner (Her Glitz) in this look reminds me a lot of Vincent Longo Wet Diamond eye shadow in Capucine used slightly wet as a liner. Possible dupe idea!

  35. Ceci says:

OMG…this look is so cute! I <3 Her Glitz and Strayin’. Yay for early HK launch in NYC! I just bought those exact colors today. Maybe I’ll try something similar out with them (sans palette, unfortunately, but I have some dupes that will do the job).

P.S. – The Cream Team gloss Petite Indulgence goes really nicely with Strayin’. It’s very similar to it colorwise and the finish you get with both on is so pretty.

  36. victoria says:

you look lovely. love your hair too. i’m so happy o got fun and games blush and cute-ster. i thought cute-ster will look too pale on me as do so many similar lipsticks but it’s not. i should get a back up, it’s my favorite nude lipstick.

    • Christine says:

Thanks, Victoria! I’m glad you like Cute-ster on you! Mine broke at the base, so I’m debating returning it or not :/ It broke when I originally did a lip swatch for it and it’s annoying me!

  37. Angela says:

    Hi Christine..

I was just wondering, do you do any digital editing to your photos after they come off the camera? I’m amazed by how crystal clear and beautiful they are. I use a camera that is close to 8 mega pixels on macro and I can’t get it to look anywhere as good as yours. Please share your secret!!

  38. Shorty. says:

Super pretty and beautiful smile. Hey dont think we forgot, you were gonna show us your toes ( Hello Kitty color) Hey, do it for Hello Kitty:) LMAO

  39. charlene says:

of course you had to know i wud love this look….wow…right up my street! u def make me want to try to get this palette now! :) I LOVE IT! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

  40. charlene says:

    i wish u’d do a vid for this…

  41. Laurie says:

This is such a pretty look! I think the pink lipstick looks great!

I think i know of a dupe for her glitz.. if you apply a thin layer of duo surgical glue and apply it like you were about to line your eyes, then dip another eye liner brush into macs reflects antiqued gold pigment and apply it over the glue.. Bam!! sparkly antiqued gold color

  42. Angie says:

Love the lips :) looks really sweet! The eyes look easy enough – no need to have the lucky tom palette to get this look :)

  43. Annika says:

Best. Look. Ever. Your eye makeup is perfect and I can’t wait to get my Cute-ster!

  44. Erica says:

I love it! such a cute everyday look with a bit of funk due to that pretty e/l color!

  45. Rocketqueen says:

You pull everything off in a gorgeous way! Thanks for inspiring!

  46. Emma says:

i luv it! now i kinda want that pallette :)

  47. kleri says:

Love this look. An out of the topic question. Did you have a change to try studio sculpt foundation?

    • Christine says:

Thanks, Kleri! I tried it briefly, but I don’t know if the color was right. It photographed horribly – I looked splotchy and there was a lot of ghost face going on. It’s pretty thick, not quite gel like say Armani Face Fabric, but it’s probably one of the thicker liquids I’ve ever tried.

  48. Suuz says:

    loveLOVElove the glitterliner!

  49. Maria says:

Beautiful, I’m a sucker for your neutral looks!

  50. rowan says:

this suits you so well. i like the look of stash…purdy

  51. Sher says:

This looks so pretty on you. Eye-catching but subtle. :)

  52. Ellen says:

I really like the liner. I checked UD’s site and it says Stash is a dark green/gold but it looks like a regular gold on your eyes. Does it come out like that or did the other liner make it golder?

  53. Sash says:

    Hey Cutie! *waves*
It’s hard to go wrong with such a subtle look. I’m still waiting for that dramatic look from you, Christine! LOL Summer/Spring time, right?

  54. Kate says:

Love this palette. This looks gorgeous on you, Christine!

  55. Rachel says:

Gorgeous as usual…share your talent with us please lol! After seeing this post …I am definitely gonna check out the glitter liners tomorrow.

  56. Rachael says:

This glitter liner is to die for! I love the eay it makes your eyes look so chocolatey brown. I’m definatly picking this liner up!

  57. Ju says:

The twice are pretty ! But I prefer the pink one, more girly ^^

  58. elle says:

I really like this look and I want to try it tomorrow. But I don’t have Her Glitz. So which is closer to it, Enbronze, Molten Sol or Blitzed.

  59. Elisa says:

i la la la love this look, i love neutral looks because im a mommy and im always on the go and i just need a cook day time look and neutral is usually the best way to go :]
