Easy look today. I was actually only putting on makeup because I wanted to snap a picture of my hair ;) I originally paired this eye with Strayin’ lipstick and Nice to Be Nice lipglass from HK, but I wasn’t feeling it so I swapped it out. My head is aching something fierce this morning, so I think I’m going to grab some food and cases to read and lay down for a bit. Perhaps snooze a lil’, since I didn’t get much sleep last night!
Hope you’re all getting through your week :)
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Creme Royale eyeshadow (pale yellow-gold), Lucky Tom eyeshadow (dark brown-black), Bisque eyeshadow (matte highlighter), Her Glitz glitter eye liner (antique gold), Urban Decay 24/7 Stash Liner (antique gold), Plushlash mascara (black)
- Cheeks: Fun & Games blush (peach)
- Lips: Cute-ster lipstick (sheer pink-gold shimmer), Mimmy lipglass (medium sheer pink with gold shimmer)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Creme Royale = Nylon; Lucky Tom = Brun; Her Glitz = no dupe; Fun & Games = Springsheen; Cute-ster = Politely Pink (?); Mimmy = Enchantress
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre all over the lid as the base with the 249. Apply Creme Royale eyeshadow all over the lid with the 239 brush. Darken crease with Lucky Tom eyeshadow using the 239. Sweep Bisque eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Stash Liner on lower lash line, Her Glitz Glitter Liner on lower and upper lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Fun & Games blush using the 129. Apply Cute-ster lipstick to lips, and then top with Mimmy lipglass for color and shine.

(This is Strayin’ lipstick/Nice to Be Nice lipglass… didn’t complement this look.)

Very nice look! Though I have to say I wasn’t in love with the Lucky Tom palette when I saw it in person last night.
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
Thanks! Lucky Tom isn’t anything to get excited over, IMO!

what do you think of Fun & Games? Does it look like anything else they have?
Christine
Friday, February 13, 2009
Not really; it’s pretty peachy-orange. It’s more pigmented than colors like Springsheen or Peachykeen.

btw; can you back-2-mac for the HK lipsticks?

My MAC counter wouldn’t let me. :(

MAC’s B2M rules say no to any special packaging but some counters and stores still allow it to happen. The one here (in a Belk) does not.

I’m from Biloxi, MS and one of the girls at my Belk’s Mac Counter that I deal with all the time told me I should depot my eyeshadows and bring them in. I told her there were 4 out of the 6 lipsticks that I really liked and she told me I could use my Back2Mac for that. It was great!!!!!!
Christine
Friday, February 13, 2009
Wow! You’re so lucky you can do that :)

I really LOVED this glitter liner but I have reflects antique gold and I wore it over a brown fluid line and I swear it looks exactly the same! The reflects set in the eyeliner and didn’t come off (or even fall out) until I took it off that night!

Love the second lippy and i love your short hair. it frames your face nicely!

Thanks, Rose! I liked the first lip combo alone, but definitely not with this look!

Looks good, although your enabling the Lucky Tom palette some more. Not really, but I guess I just waat a reason to buy it XDD. I don’t think it looked bad with Strayin’ but it looks better with Cute-ster.

I must add that I love you for the step by sep directs you include, instead of just listing what you put and expecting us to know how that went xDD

Thursday, February 12, 2009
Aww, I’m glad you find them useful, Angie!
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
Thanks, Angie! Aww, I don’t love either palette, to be honest, but I’m trying to do some looks with them at the very least!

Love it. That’s very similar to the look my MUA put on me, but she used Fresh Brew and Nice to Be Nice liglass. I would never have put the two together but it was a beautiful lip combo. Almost made me want to buy it.
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
Thank you!! :) I wouldn’t have thought to put those two together either, hmm!

I really like this look too. I guess Her Glitz is going on my list of wants. Cutester and Mimmy look really pretty together. I wonder what Cutester would look like with She Loves Candy.

I almost bought Her Glitz and now I wish I had. I may have to make another MAC visit. :)
This look is gorgeous by the way. I think if you had gone with a pink based blush, then your first lip combo would have looked fine.
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
You definitely gotta get it! It’s gorgeous.
Thanks! Yes, I agree – if I went with Tippy, it would have been fine. I had used Tippy the look before, so I wanted to use Fun & Games, LOL.

I’m not loving the eyes if I’m honest (the liner’s nice, but the e/s looks dull – sorry). Loving both lips though, very nice.

Very nice! I’m glad I ordered that palette, the lipstick and gloss. BTW, your site is wonderful. I like the fact that you analyze products, swatch products and provide your opinion instead of just copying and pasting the product promo info. You obviously put lot of time into this site and I hope something great comes your way (jobs etc) as a result! Thanks again.

hi christine!
are cute-ster and mimmy worth buying? i already bought nice kitty and she loves candy :)
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
I don’t think Cute-ster is necessary at all. Mimmy is nice, but it’s not like OMG GOTTA HAVE IT!

Wednesday, February 11, 2009
Christine, this look is very pretty!
The glitter liner (Her Glitz) in this look reminds me a lot of Vincent Longo Wet Diamond eye shadow in Capucine used slightly wet as a liner. Possible dupe idea!
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
Thanks! I haven’t seen any Vincent Longo products, so I’ll take your word for it!

Wednesday, February 11, 2009
OMG…this look is so cute! I <3 Her Glitz and Strayin’. Yay for early HK launch in NYC! I just bought those exact colors today. Maybe I’ll try something similar out with them (sans palette, unfortunately, but I have some dupes that will do the job).
P.S. – The Cream Team gloss Petite Indulgence goes really nicely with Strayin’. It’s very similar to it colorwise and the finish you get with both on is so pretty.
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
Thanks, Ceci! It is SOO pretty, love Her Glitz a lot!
Thanks for the tip about Petite Indulgence!

Wednesday, February 11, 2009
you look lovely. love your hair too. i’m so happy o got fun and games blush and cute-ster. i thought cute-ster will look too pale on me as do so many similar lipsticks but it’s not. i should get a back up, it’s my favorite nude lipstick.
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
Thanks, Victoria! I’m glad you like Cute-ster on you! Mine broke at the base, so I’m debating returning it or not :/ It broke when I originally did a lip swatch for it and it’s annoying me!

Hi Christine..
I was just wondering, do you do any digital editing to your photos after they come off the camera? I’m amazed by how crystal clear and beautiful they are. I use a camera that is close to 8 mega pixels on macro and I can’t get it to look anywhere as good as yours. Please share your secret!!
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
Nope, no editing! There’s a post I wrote up a long time ago about it – you can type in “how to take a close up photo.” I think that should turn it up!
Shorty.
Wednesday, February 11, 2009
Super pretty and beautiful smile. Hey dont think we forgot, you were gonna show us your toes ( Hello Kitty color) Hey, do it for Hello Kitty:) LMAO

This is such a pretty look! I think the pink lipstick looks great!
I think i know of a dupe for her glitz.. if you apply a thin layer of duo surgical glue and apply it like you were about to line your eyes, then dip another eye liner brush into macs reflects antiqued gold pigment and apply it over the glue.. Bam!! sparkly antiqued gold color

Thursday, February 12, 2009
Love this look. An out of the topic question. Did you have a change to try studio sculpt foundation?
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
Thanks, Kleri! I tried it briefly, but I don’t know if the color was right. It photographed horribly – I looked splotchy and there was a lot of ghost face going on. It’s pretty thick, not quite gel like say Armani Face Fabric, but it’s probably one of the thicker liquids I’ve ever tried.

Thursday, February 12, 2009
I really like the liner. I checked UD’s site and it says Stash is a dark green/gold but it looks like a regular gold on your eyes. Does it come out like that or did the other liner make it golder?
Christine
Thursday, February 12, 2009
Thanks, Ellen! It doesn’t have any green to me, IMO. It’s just antique gold!
