Look – Bright Teals, Blues, and a Touch of Purple

Posted in: Blue, Gold, Looks, Purple, Teal

I’m totally rocking out to Travis Barker’s remix of Soulja Boy’s “Crank That.” It’s basically one of the most awesome things I’ve ever heard!  As much as I’d love to listen to this on repeat for another hour or so, I need to head out and walk Mellan for a bit… and probably hit up Starbucks’ while doing so.  Ahh, if only I had will power!

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: Teal pigment (teal base), Goldmine eyeshadow (true gold), Shimmermoss eyeshadow (teal), Electric Eel eyeshadow (bright blue), Deep Truth eyeshadow (dark blue), Climate Blue eyeshadow (dark indigo), Gorgeous Gold eyeshadow (green-toned gold), Prescriptives’ Grotto Kohl Liner (green-teal), Lancome Oscillation mascara (black)
  • Cheeks: Enough Said blush (soft peach), NARS Super Orgasm blush (pink with peach)
  • Lips: Velvet Teddy lipstick (semi-matte nude), Vital Spark lipglass (orange-gold)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Climate Blue = Parfait Amour + Contrast; Enough Said = bronzer; Vital Spark = Instant Gold

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Teal pigment all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner lid, apply Goldmine eyeshadow using the 239. Apply Shimmermoss to the middle of the lid, overlaying it with Goldmine. Overlay the middle lid using Electric Eel eyeshadow, leaving about 1/4th of the lid left. Darken outer fourth of lid with Deep Truth eyeshadow, then gently sweep into crease. Deepen crease by gently patting Climate Blue eyeshadow into the crease with the 239 brush. Sweep Gorgeous Gold underneath the brow bone to highlight. Pat lower lash line with Gorgeous Gold eyeshadow using the 219. Finish with Prescriptives’ Grotto kohl liner on lower lash line, and Lancome Oscillation mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Enough Said & NARS Super Orgasm using the 129. Apply Velvet Teddy lipstick to lips, and then top with Vital Spark lipglass for color and shine.

I don’t think I will ever in a hundred years (okay, 10 years) have come up with this combination on my own! Your make-up is absolutely stunning!!

A little overboard for just a walk around the neighborhood though… :P My dog likes the smell of make-up. He’ll lick it off my face if I’d let him!

I love, love, love the cheek combo! I can’t wait to try this with Enough Said and my Orgasm blush (I don’t have Super Orgasm) to see if it’s similar.

Mellan is so cute, as always!

    • Christine

      Thursday, November 6, 2008

      Thanks, Chrissy!

Orgasm and Super Orgasm are sooo similar, you definitely don’t need both ;) You should love the combo!

Have you thought of using Mellan as an inspiration of an white-yellow-gold look, kind of sister look?

Nice colorful look. But I think it might look better with more lighter colors or space between your eyebrows and the dark blue eye shadow, cause the dark blue is very dominant.

    • Christine

      Thursday, November 6, 2008

I think I’ve done a look or two like that, though not inspired by Mellan!

Thanks for the tip, Nicole! :)

Christine, I wish I had your colouring..this is such a gorgeous look, but I would look ridiculous wearing these intense colours..*sigh*
I really like how the e/s match your shirt. The “make up police” is rolling their eyes right now, but I really like doing that.
And- Mellan..aaaaaaw! He is such a sweety!! How is he healthwise?

    • Christine

      Thursday, November 6, 2008

Awww, I don’t believe you’d look ridiculous at all!!

Thank youuu! I always have to match or coordinate.

He’s doing the same for the most part. His hips pop in and out occasionally, but otherwise there’s no real indication anything is wrong with him. And he’s always running around as soon as his hip is back in, so even that doesn’t seem to bother him.

the lips are great but the eyes are a mess.. they so don’t go with the rest of the face…

    • Christine

      Thursday, November 6, 2008

What makes them not go with the face? I’d love to be able to improve, but I’m not seeing what you are seeing, so any help would be appreciated.

    1. Travis Barker’s crank that is indeed an awesome song

    2. I work at Sbux and if lived closer to you Christine..I’d totally hook you up.

    3. I just realized someone posted as Miss B which amuses me since that was nickname at work for a while and still is by certain people.

    4. I’m willing to bet that even though you put all that on to walk the dog, it was not the only thing you did all day so probably not more make up than necessary. :)

Haha! I just had a Pumpkin Spice Latte this AM. It is my FAVE drink at Starbucks :D Do you have any crazy drink concoctions you like?

  40. Bettina

    Tuesday, September 8, 2009

ah the sad story of my life is that I can no longer drink coffee because I gained a nasty acid reflux issue I’m working to get rid of still. I will say that when I did drink coffee, I never really created anything super crazy. I have a bit of a sweet tooth but some of these can be made made less sweet.

    1. iced coffee with toffee nut and soy (or regular milk for those of you who can have dairy)

    2. for all you pumpkin spice lovers, lots of people do pumpkin white mochas or pumpkin chai

    3. iced caramel macchiatos are aboviously not new but were one of my favs…yes I am a huge toffee nut lover but you should try subbing it for the vanilla in this drink, the buttery flavor of the toffee nut compliments the caramel sauce rather nicely.

one of my friends makes a tiramisu frappucinno (seriously it’s amazing) I rarely work with him anymore but the next time I do I willget the recipe and post his recipe and you can all pester your local Sbux to make it LOL!

    • Christine

      Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Oh no! That is so terrible to hear, Bettina :( I hope you get it under control soon! I am not a huge coffee drinker myself… more like one and I am good for the day!

Oooh, Pumpkin White Mocha, now THAT sounds good.

I’m trying to make my own Pumpkin Spice latte at home, but so far, I haven’t achieved greatness quite yet!

LOL, will definitely try the Tiramisu Frap! I heard about a Snickers frap once… but nobody knew how to make it at my local Starbucks!

  41. Bettina

    Christine

snickers is nothing more than a mocha frapp with caramel syrup in it, and caramel sauce around the insdie of the cup as well as on top of the whip. Here are some more interesting drink recipes to possibly try. I said pumpkin white mochas already but you can also try gingerbread chai lattes (gingerbread dosen’t get launched till November if I’m not mistaken), pumpkin chai lattes (or pumpkin chai frapps). I still don’t know what goes in the tiramisu frapp sorry LOL.

Captain Crunchberry frapp- strawberries and cream with toffee nut and java chips(seriously it sounds wierd but if you like that cereal this drink tastes just like it)

vanilla bean frapp with caramel sauce and a floating add shot

cookies and cream- there are a few variations of this but the one I know is a vanilla bean frapp (in a grande I do like a scoop and a half of the vanilla bean powder, a pump of white mocha and java chips.

black and white peppermint mochas are good too but I would have them lessen the syrup pumps otherwise it’s a ton. (like in a grande the normal amount is 4 punps, so if you do 4 pumps wm, 4 pumps mocha, and 4 pumps peppermint…eew yikes) I like sweet but that’s an od right there.

anything else you want an idea for drink wise let me know

    • Christine

      Monday, October 26, 2009

Bettina!!!!! ILOVEYOU! OMG, I’m totally going to Starbucks and asking for the Snickers frap!! ALong with the Black & White Peppermint Mochas per your syrup recommendations. May have to try Cookies and Cream, too.

      Thank youuuuuu!
