Leighton Meester @ 61st Primetime Emmy Awards 2009
Ohh, looking much better at the Emmys than she did (in my eyes, at least!) at the VMAs last weekend. This look gives her a sophisticated edge, but it isn’t so heavy that it ages her. She is far braver than I — the idea of wearing red lipstick with a white (or slightly off-white) dress makes me shake.

I was JUST going to comment on her eyebrow…
Her makeup looks good, but not a fan of the knots on her dress… they’re way too big!

I think she looks gorgeous! I know this is a beauty blog so people are expected to be critical, but really, so her left eyebrows different? It’s like people expect celebrities to be constantly perfect

She looks gorgeous and very awards ceremony. I love the contrast of the bright red lip and white dress, she kinda looks very Snow White. I don’t mind her eyebrows, it looks very natural and I like the softness to it. I don’t really like a brow that is too dark or too strongly defined.

When I scrolled down, I LITERALLY cringed. No joke.
I just do not find this attractive!
Or.. maybe it’s HER I do not find attractive (also, who is she?) thus her entire look just looks bad as well.
I’d have to say that I don’t think her eye makeup was done nicely/properly. I dunno, I guess I’m the odd one out.

I love it! I think she pulled of the red lip much better than Hayden did.

I’m not really digging it either. I think it’s the red shade for me. I would have liked to see a matte red.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again; this girl NEEDS to fill in her brows more. With her dark eyes and dark hair, it just looks weird for her eyebrows to be so light. I think she’d look infinitely better with filled in brows.

I love her, but I think she’s got too much of something on. I would have liked to see less eye shadow and a more defined lip. Bold reds need a lip pencil.

her face is cute but her dress is too pouffy

I’m voting in the “no” camp on this look. It looks like she’s wearing a bath towel, and call me a conformist (which I’m soooo not) eyes or lips, pick one. And yes, Alexzandra, I agree about the lip pencil, as a matter of fact, it looks like her lipstick is actually feathered a bit. Makeup Artist Fail!

Agree with that “lips or eyes” comment. I think that really is what was putting me off most, without even realizing.
Scroll up to the pictures, and cover her mouth. Doesn’t it already look ten times better?
Red is fine, but because her eye makeup was applied quite.. poorly, it just looks like it’s competing far too much. Had the shadow only slightly exceeded the crease and been blended better towards the center of the eyes, and maybe had there been a bit more airy-ness to it, I would have probably liked it.
