Quick Review: Le Metier de Beaute Urban Dweller Nail Lacquer

Le Metier de Beaute Urban Dweller Nail Lacquer ($10.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is described as a “rich chocolate plum with golden effervescence.” It’s a dark, reddened chocolate brown with copper and teal micro-shimmer. Urban Decay Barlust is very similar, just not quite as red-toned.

This was nearly opaque in one coat, but I’d still recommend two for full opacity.  It had a very nice consistency that allowed the polish to apply fluidly without streaking, bubbling, or pooling along the sides. Le Metier de Beaute, generally, has a lovely formula and interesting shades.  Now, they have full-sized bottles, but in the past, they released small bottles.  These smaller bottles can make for a more challenging application if you have longer fingers or larger hands, since the caps are so small.  It contains just over a fourth of a full-sized polish (average size of full-sized polish is 0.50 fl. oz.) but is priced at $10, which is more palatable than say Dior or Chanel’s $20+ price tags (and you get around 0.34 to 0.40 fl. oz. with those).  I typically get a week of wear out of the brand’s formula with no chipping and very minor tip wear.

** A Note on Quick Reviews: In an effort to be more on-the-ball for 2013, I’m digging through my photo folders and getting as much posted as I can. These are not full-length, in-depth reviews, and instead, I’m writing brief reviews. For dupes, I highly suggest checking out The Swatch Gallery; it’s my first stop whenever I am looking for possible dupes. All of the swatches in this post are automatically added to the gallery, so you can compare them for yourself.

This reminds me of Lancome Raisinette (which I don’t know if it’s still available). This looks much prettier applied than in the bottle.

  2. SUCH a gorgeous, unique shade! I’ve never tried any LMdB polishes (or any of their products, for that matter :/) but I REALLY want this polish now! It’s so pretty for fall/winter!

Hi Christine! I’m loving the shorter reviews because you have taught me so much about makeup and your photos are always stunning. So no wonder it makes it so easy to understand how a product performs based on your swatches and photographs. It’s a win-win combination! We get more reviews as a result and the quality is just as wonderful as always.

  4. Wow what a stunning and unique color
