Le Metier de Beaute Fiji Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick

Le Metier de Beaute Fiji Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a vibrant medium pink with subtle yellow undertones. It yields opaque color coverage with very little product. MAC Please Me is lighter, almost appears to have beige undertones in comparison. MAC Viva Glam Nicki is brighter. Revlon Carnation is darker. Rimmel Dizzy looks very similar. Lancome Pink Sapphire is a bit darker and warmer. MAC Chatterbox is more coral.

This formula is supposed to be part lip stain, part moisturizer with full color coverage. It’s also described as long-wearing and won’t bleed or feather. I think what surprised me most about the product was that it was moisturizing, but the texture is not at all what one would associate with a hydrating formula–it almost felt a little dry. There’s no high-shine, slip, or anything like that, which are usually characteristics of formulas marketed as ultra hydrating. Instead, the texture is creamy, fairly lightweight, and glides on easily but doesn’t slip around. Fiji wore for five and a half hours when I tested it. It does last through some drinking (of coffee, because this sentence sounded all kinds of wrong without that clarification) as well.

One of the things I’ve noticed with Le Metier de Beaute’s Colour Core range is that one out of three seem to have a smashed tip. I’m not sure what’s going on during production/quality control, but I have more than a few that have had this problem. I’m guessing that the lipstick is being overfilled so that when the cap is put on during manufacturing that it smashes the tip down. The tube itself is a rubberized black plastic tube, so there are no fingerprints to see and the tube is easily held.

This is a lovely just-warmed-up pink that will flatter neutral and warmer complexions really nicely. The formula is extremely moisturizing but doesn't have any of the slip-factor that you'd expect, so it actually wears well--five and a half hours.

  1. Pretty color but I feel like I could find something very similar for much less.

  2. That’s beautiful! Sounds like an awesome formula. My skin tone doesn’t really lean yellow or pink, but I’m thinking if I can wear peachy shades and some oranges, I can carry this off!

Omg this color looks amazing on you!!!!!! AMAZING!!! Your skin looks fabulous in the picture too. Envious!! :)

  4. Lovely colour! It did remind me of Chatterbox in the photos, so thanks for including the note on that. I really like this formula and I agree with you that I was surprised it was moisturizing given that it felt like a satin finish. I may have to put this on my list of Metier wants…

Such a pretty color :) I am from Fiji, and I’d get this just for the name. Silly, right! It is sad that for such a prestiges brand, they could not take the time to check their products before it reaches the consumer. I would be very upset if I spent $32 on a lipstick to receive it smashed like this. Beautiful color though and it looks great on you!

  6. Beth Kranzberg Cowit

I bought fiji and dubai too, beautiful colors! one of mine had a mashed tip too. Weird?

  7. Temptalia

It seems to too common for it to just be an oops, you know? I’ve had several arrive that way, too!

  8. Beth Kranzberg Cowit

My first tube, the lipstick fell out of the tube onto the floor. My husband said I looked like I had dropped my ice cream, lol. The replacement was smooshed… Oh well!

Beautiful color, and looks great on you! Would you recommend this color for Asian skin? I’m Asian (Chinese) with warm undertones, not too pale or tan.

“This formula is supposed to be part lip stain, part moisturizer with full color coverage.” Very interesting description, I’ll have to try it out!

  19. Christa Perilously Pale

I think they end up with smooshed tips because they are loose in the tubes. Didn’t you find your ones with smooshed tips wiggly? I think for some reason they don’t sit firmly in the base? I think I’ve only had one that wasn’t loose. Like Beth I ordered one that fell right out then Neiman Marcus sent me replacements twice that were both loose and I finally gave up. LOL

  20. Christa Perilously Pale

Yes ladies they are available at Neiman Marcus, Saks, Nordstrom, and don’t forget Bergdorf Goodman, as well as internationally at Zuneta! Well worth checking out!.
