Lancome Kitten Heel Color Design Eyeshadow

Lancome Kitten Heel Color Design Eyeshadow ($18.00 for 0.042 oz.) is described as a “golden peach-y pink” with a shimmer finish. This is one of my personal favorite Lancome shades, because I’m all over any peach-pink eyeshadow! What I like about this one is that it is decidely pink with a golden sheen; often, these types of shades lean more orange (think MAC Melon pigment). I love that it’s more of a yellow-toned pink as the base color with the golden shimmer-sheen. The closest dupe I could think of was MAC Goody Goody Gum Drop which is similar but slightly cooler-toned and with a less noticeable golden sheen.

The texture is good, but it could be a touch smoother; when applied to the lid, it seems to be better than swatched. It’s not bad, it truly is good, but I think the texture has a little room for improvement. This is a great one-and-done shade, though, and it has more oomph than a beige/champagne wash of color does. Bonus? It could totally be used as a blush or highlighter. Lancome’s eyeshadows are supposed to be long-wearing (without a base), and while I don’t quite achieve all-day wear, I get around eight hours with subtle creasing, but I don’t have any creasing issues if I use a base underneath.

It's a versatile shade, because the pink makes it wearable on cool complexions, but the golden sheen wakes up the color so it won't make you look like you're crying. Plus, the golden sheen makes it very wearable on warmer complexions, too.

  1. the color looks like MAC’s Expensive Pink, doesn’t it?

  2. Odbery

Any idea how it stacks up to UD’s X?

  3. Cheeks! Cheeks! Have you put it on you face? This is one of my favorite “blushes.” I love this one (I also just bought a new one to photo for a review! LOL!)

It looks like mac expensive pink to me!

  5. I found this colour years ago and have been in love with it since. Its the perfect pink for the eyes, wakes them up and looks so delicate and feminine :)

  6. rowan

  7. asha

i am such a sucker for golden pinks.. 18$ :( guess i can blame it on the holiday spirit..lol

It’s much more pink when swatched than I’d have expected looking at it in the pan (where it looks awfully “close enough” to MAC Naked Lunch or All That Glitters). Pretty shadow, and I love the name.

  9. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Diana Diana

This reminds me of Nars Orgasm for some reason! Just sayin… lol!

  10. Katelyn

So it’s actually a lot pinker than it is in the pan?

  11. Michelle

how does it compare to mac’s tweet me from mega metal?

  12. This color is so cute, and I love the name! I’ve swatched it, but never thought of using it on my cheeks… I SO want to bring it home to play with now!

  13. Alexis Pine

Christine, I really think MAC’s expensive pink is an exact dupe for it.

  14. BethM

This reminds me of Benefit’s Nice Melons.

  15. The color is pretty, reminds me a little of Urban Decay X, one of my favorites!

  16. Allison

Swatched, it looks a lot like the lighter shade in Clinique’s “strawberry fudge” duo.

    • Maranda

I completely agree! The Strawberry Fudge Duo is my favorite shadow ever! They look ALOT alike, but Strawberry Fudge is prettier in my opinion! Plus, its cheaper :-)

  17. Ashley

Lovely! A bit pinker than the Coastal Scents shadow/liner called Ignite (reminds me of this one)…and say, a very pink version of MAC Beachbound lipstick. Great color.

  18. Ohhhh I am suck a sucker for peach-pink e/s shades! Urban Decay X is almost my #1 favorite e/s, along with NYX Chrome in Geisha, so I may have to grab this to add to my peach-pink collection!

  19. Jackie

Yay… I have only two eyeshadows that I would consider “staples” if I had to forsake all other colors, and this is one of them. The ultimate go-to color when I need to get ready quickly and wear something that will be flattering with whatever else I put on.

  20. Prerna

Christine, do you own Wet N Wild’s single shadow in Penny? This reminds me of it!!!

  21. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of anita june

smashbox’s flamingo is almost an exact dupe — it is however, brighter

  22. This looks a WHOLE LOT like Urban Decay’s “X” or Fyrinnae’s “Rapunzel Had Extensions.”

  23. When I swatched this at Macys it reminded me of Too Faced Magic Mushroom and Urban Decay X…love a peachy gold shimmer!

  24. Miriam

Finally! The perfect pink! I’ve been searching for years for something similar to this color, but everything I came across resembled Urban Decay’s X or MAC’s melon pigment. I know this is going to be my one and only shadow I hit pan on after purchasing it. I’ve never bought anything from Lancome before so really hoping it doesn’t disappoint. Thank you for reviewing/swatching this. You made my day :-)

  25. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Alicia Alicia

i love this color. i may have to get it!

  26. Elysia

    suuuper pretty, I love it!

  27. Mel

I have (and love) both kitten heel and expensive pink, and they’re nowhere close to each other.

  28. Based on the picture, it looks more like MAC Paradisco or NARS Orgasm if Orgasm was an eyeshadow.

  29. Desiree

maybe MAC Paradisco? :) it looks similar

  30. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Ana Ana G.

Might get this one to use it as a blush! It’s such a nice go-to shade. Just hope it is also long wearing on cheeks!

  31. Melissa

GORGEOUS! I’m pretty sure I need this!

  32. Lucy

This looks really nice. How does it compare with Thebalm’s Hot Mama?

  33. Shannon

wow, i have this shade in one of the gwp quads, and never thought much of it, but i also don’t think i’ve used it right. now i really wanna give it another try. your swatch makes it look gorgeous! and i can see what you mean by using it as a blush…albeit a very shimmery sheeny blush!

  34. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Mari Mary

Compared to the balm blush “hot mama” or sleek “rose gold” color family?

  35. Lark

I have this color; It’s amazing! Even I can’t make it- or me- look anything but good in it. Goes with everything! Even green will dance with it politely. Pretty sweet with Nars Outremer too.

  36. michelle

i love this eyeshadow. i got it in a sample and then bought the big size. the only thing is i feel like the big size is poorer quality then the sample.. it falls out so much

  37. Nikki

I grew to like this color but it took a lot of trial and error. It’s the first eyeshadow I’ve had that works better when applied with the cheap sponge applicator versus MAC’s 239 brush. It looks great with MAC Copperplate in the crease and Smut in the outer v.
What I don’t like about it is that it seems to REALLY emphasize the fold of my lid. I have a slightly hooded eye and even when I just apply this to the inner half of the eye it becomes plain droopy looking.
