I don’t have a true preference, but pricepoint does play a key role. The more opaque it is, the more I’m willing to pay. If I’m going to wear a sheerer gloss, it’s usually over a lipstick, so why pay more?

Generally, if I want opaque I’ll opt for lipstick instead, but too sheer seems pointless – somewhere around semisheer and semi-opaque I guess.

It really depends on what I am going to be using the lip gloss for: am I only using a lipgloss (maybe because I am carrying a small bag) or am I using it for shine. It depends on the situation.

  4. Semi-sheer. I like my color to come from lipstick, and then if I want some shine or some shimmer, I can add gloss.

  5. Semi to totally opaque. I have pretty pigmented lips so sheer glosses tend to just look clear on me

I want it to match how it looks in the tube! I guess I can deal with sheerer glosses in more natural shades, but if you give me something bright or saturated in the tube, and THEN it’s sheer? I hate it, and I hate whoever decided to do that.

      I agree!

I love semi-sheer or semi-opaque bright colors(gloss or lipstick…the exception would be nude and peachy lipsticks which i wish were more opaque w/o being matte) 😀 especially red and darker. They always show up on me as I’m pale so I like them. Opaque red lipsticks may look too flashy on me sometimes but opaque red glosses are more ok :))

  7. Sheer but with a tint. So I’m guessing that’s semi-sheer? I have no idea, haha.

  8. It’s a tossup between semi-opaque and completely opaque. If I wanted something sheerer I’d just use a tinted lip balm, or good old petroleum jelly.

I look at lip glosses and love the colour, but I put on my lips and all I get are shiny lips. I have good pigmentation on my lips so need semi opaque or fully opaque to show any colour.

  10. Moderately sheer – I find lipglosses a bit unwieldy if they’re opaque, to be honest 😛

I like them to tint the lips properly, but be forgiving enough that I can probably apply it without a mirror…

I’m just now getting into lipgloss, I typically do not like to wear them because I don’t want to have to reapply constantly & I want it to be pigment (semi-opaque to completely opaque. If anyone has a certain lipgloss brand & type that they really like, please let me know. Just for reference I’m not a fan of MAC’s lipglass & NARS lipglosses have no staying power. Those are the 2 that I’ve worn & tried out recently. Thank you in advance.

  12. Clarins has the most wonderful gloss formulation in their “Gloss Prodige” lipglosses. It’s not that they’re opaque or semi-opaque but more that they are just really pigmented and so look and act a bit more like lipstick and even as they start to wear off, they leave some colour behind. I only wish they made more shades.
