Katy Perry @ 2010 52nd Grammy Awards
It’s actually kind of awesome to see a celebrity walk the red carpet with so much makeup on… just in the sense of color! eyeshadow! mascara! oh my. I love the lips!
Makeup How-to & Breakdown
Celebrity makeup artist, Jake Bailey, used a variety of bindis Katy brought back from a recent trip to India to create a “Bettie Page, Indian Princess look” for this year’s awards. J
To perfect her skin, Jake used Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation and to set the look, he dusted Guerlain Les Violettes Matte Touch Powder all over the face.
Jake then highlighted the apples of her cheeks with CORALista blush from benefit.
Keeping with the exotic feel, Jake used a mixture of shimmery plums and golds on her eyes. “I was going for a more colorful version of the tradition smoky eye,” said Jake. Jake used COVERGIRL’s double-ended smoky eye stick, Smoky Shadow Blast in Purple Plume by first applying the angled end of the shadow stick, the deeper plum, over the entire lid and blending into a smoky halo. He then applied Smoky ShadowBlast in Bronze Fire, using the round, golden end to line along the lid and inner corners of her eyes to brighten the look.
To complete her smoky eye, Jake created an ultra-long lash look with several coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast Length in black. “The best thing about this mascara is that you can apply coat after coat to get maximum impact without losing separation and elegance,” said Jake.
To balance her dramatic eyes without overpowering them, Jake finished her look with a matte lip, using COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain in Wild Berry Wink. “I love these Lipstains so much because you can line and shape the entire lip without sacrificing your own lip texture,” Jake finished.

I love Katy Perry's style... everything she does! Including this look which looks vintage. That bindi is out of place but understandable since she was just in India. Her makeup is so doable. I love that her makeup artist used drugstore items to put this look together. I want to try that foundation by Make up Forever now, her skin looks flawless!
When I first saw the makeup I was really hoping for a more traditional indian style dress. I think this dress is totally throwing off the look they were going for. I am not thrilled with the lipstick they used.
This complete look doesn't do much for me, actually. It's not that I want to gasp in horror, it's just very "meh". I think some of the aspects could work very well on their own (even the bindi), but together it doesn't look right. She doesn't look comfortable in her clothes, either. I didn't think she looked so bad at first, but after reading the comments and going back - it's just not how I like to see her (vintage retro stuff that reminds me of a more brightly colored Dita Von Teese is still what's going for her).
Lovely dress & perfect body... there is something odd on her face... eyes too wide open ? Nice m/u though.
Is is just me or does she always look like her makeup was inspired by barbie? I would have loved to see her do something different then her usually baby pink lip and lashes
i really wish she'd grow her bangs out a little more! her face is too long/big for bangs that short...and of course the dress is stupid, especially that flesh-tone color :-/
AHAHAHHAA!!! I hate to be hatin' but I have to say I have never been a fan of Katy Perry and I am so gleeful to see that she isn't receiving a single totally positive comment, even from her fans!
i wish people would know the difference between glamour and halloween. its and award dinner not a masquerade show.
whats wrong with the right side of her face? the nose and cheekbone? looks like the foundation was TOTALLY unblended or something. Not working for me
This dress. This dress. From the color, to the unflattering way it's cut, to the funny little flowers, to the sequins galore. There is nothing redeeming about it, unfortunately. Even more so when paired with that glittery clutch. Oh boy. It's not wild. It's just meh. The make-up isn't bad, though I'm distracted from it by the funny decal on her forehead. I don't get it. :<
I love Katy Perry, love love love her! I'd still love her even if she wore a chicken suit to the Grammy's, but this, to me, looks kind of... terrible. The dress isn't very flattering and what the hell might that jewel be on her forehead and why is it there?? Her make-up is all right, got to love the pink lips on her- that's something she can definitely pull off. But the rest... why, Katy? I'd much rather see her in something bright, retro, vintage, her usual style, something that shows more of her personality. This is a grandma dress.. Still love her, though.
That "jewel" on her forehead is called a Bindi, it is worn by Indian women and has an ancient cultural significance for married women... these days it's more of an accessory and extremely popular if you are Indian. Vibrant colors and Jewels is what their looks are all about. The post does say she just came back from India recently.
This is a complete miss to me. Everything seems last minute and rushed. I think her makeup would've came together if her eyebrows was together but too much pink or wrong pink color cominations.... something is wrong with it.
i LOVE katy perry but her dress doesnt rlly fit her she always wears fun, bright stuff....this is boring :( but her makeup looks gorgeous, like always
Is it just me or does she look like she's had some work done? She looks very... taut. But I love the colours of her makeup, and the dress.
