Coven

Kat Von D Coven Everlasting Lip Liner ($18.00 for 0.009 oz.) is a brighter, medium lavender with subtle, cooler undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation in a single stroke, but the fine tip and the thinner texture made it hard to apply evenly and opaquely across my lips as a standalone shade. It would work fine for lining the edges, but I had a lot of trouble getting it to adhere and apply to the center of my lips. The texture was lightly creamy but still pulled on my lips a bit as I used it. The color lasted nowhere near 24 hours; it had started to break down noticeably after six hours of wear. It was darker than the Coven Studded Kiss Lipstick.

The Everlasting Lip Liner is supposed to have “24-hour wear” with “water-resistant wear and weightless color” that has the “ultimate pigmentation.” It was created to be paired with Kat Von D’s liquid and regular lipstick ranges but also “worn on its own.” The formula has been fairly creamy, which made it easy to line the edges of my lips, but the skinnier pencil made it less practical for really filling in the lips. I also felt like that, while creamy, some shades still skipped when I attempted to fill in my lips. The texture was more of a soft matte initially, which enabled me to press my lips together and even out some of the product before it fully dried down. It was water-resistant, and I had no trouble drinking water or coffee, but I’ve yet to try one that actually made it through a meal particularly well–they all wore substantially away from the center of the lips and turn patchy by the end of a meal. The Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks tend to wear longer on me, actually. The formula was neither drying nor hydrating. Some were more wearable (in terms of evenness) on their own than others.

Roxy

Kat Von D Roxy Everlasting Lip Liner ($18.00 for 0.009 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark purple with cooler undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had medium, buildable color coverage, but the lip liner was almost as patchy as the Everlasting Liquid Lipstick of the same name (which is very similar in color). The lip liner had a tendency to skip, drag a little, and bunch up (where layering resulted in greater unevenness as the product was thicker in places) as I tried to fill in my lips with the pencil. It was decent for lining the edges, but the lack of opacity made the edges appear pinker and less purple, so I didn’t feel like it was giving really crisp, true-to-color edges either. On its own, the lip liner lasted for seven and a half hours–it just did not make it through my first meal at all but held up fine to water and coffee. The formula was a little drying after six hours of wear.
