Jo Malone Wild Fig & Cassis Bath Soap for Bath Luxury

Date: October 3, 2009 - Posted in: Hands & Nails Products, Jo Malone

Jo Malone Wild Fig & Cassis Bath Soap ($50.00 for 3 100g bars) is an elegant yet simple way to add a little luxury to your counter top.

Composition

  • Top Notes: Cassis, Cherry, Fresh Grass, Fig
  • Middle Notes: Cyclamen, Hyacinth, Jasmine, Pine
  • Bottom Notes: Patchouli, Cedar, Amber, Musk

Every product by Jo Malone should be opened with care, like a treasured gift, because each piece feels like an indulgence. Beautiful packaging with a signature black ribbon makes it feel like a present, even if it’s just for you. I really just appreciate that extra touch. In the box, each soap is individually wrapped, so you can use it as you need to (or even easily split with a friend) and close the box and stow away the extras.

Jo Malone describes this scent as, “Inspired by breakfast in Tuscany – the moment of breaking open juicy figs, fresh from the tree – Wild Fig & Cassis is a delicious fragrance. The scent of sun-warmed figs and delicate cassis is entwined with notes of hyacinth and cedarwood, enveloping the wearer in the warmth of the Mediterranean. Wild Fig & Cassis Bath Soaps cleanse, moisturise and fragrance the skin. The frothy lather feels delicious to the touch.”

It has that slightly earthy, lightly sweetened scent of fresh fig, but it also has the touch of cedar, amber, and musk after you’ve washed your hands. What I love is the scent lingers. It perfumes my bathroom, and it stays on my hands after washing (not all day, but a few hours). I’m actually not a bar soap kind of gal–I usually stick with liquid soaps I can easily pump out, but I love the way this feels. It smells amazing, and the soap itself doesn’t dry out my hands. I will say that this is a scent you have to sniff more than once; at first pass, it may be too intense or bitter, but give it time, and I think you’ll enjoy it more than you’d think.

Sometimes I find life can be stressful, and I love little home accents that just make your home more welcoming, more you, and give you moments to savor scents and memories. I’ve been using the first bath soap for over three weeks now, and I can easily see it lasting me several months. For my household (since it’s just in my bathroom–please, the boy would never appreciate it!), one gift box of the three soaps will easily keep me in luxury for a year. Even though it seems pricey, I’ll get a lot of use out of these before I need to start thinking about what scent to try next. Now, the only issue I face is finding the perfect soap dish to pair this with!

The Wild Fig & Cassis Collection also includes Cologne, Bath Oil, Shower Gel, Body Lotion, and Candles, should you find yourself loving this scent and wanting to be enveloped in it! If you like Bath Soaps, Jo Malone also has them available in Pine & Eucalyptus, Lime Basin & Mandarin, Lime & Grapefruit, and Nectarine Blossom & Honey.

  • Product: 28/30
  • Value: 9/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

Recommendation: If you love bathroom luxury, Jo Malone’s Wild Fig & Cassis Bath Soaps are an easy way to add some warmth.

I really like Jo Malone. I have the body creme in White Jasmine & Mint. I didn’t think I would really like it because I am not a big fan of mint but it smells so good & light. It lasts for a long time. I put it on at night before bed & in the morning I can still smell it and throughout the day I can smell it. I haven’t tried the soaps yet but after reading this post, it makes me want to go out and check it out.

Nice! I love the longevity of the scents. They’re strong, but more in the sense that they’ll fill a room, but not actually overwhelming. I’ll have to take a sniff of that at the Jo Malone counter next time I’m at Nordstrom!

I also love that her scents (fragrances, at least) are meant to be layered and combined.

I am a HUUUUGE fan of Fig scented product. My current fave is Fresh’s Fig and Aprico – have you smelled it? It’s combination of clean, sweet and a little strong muskiness from the fig…does that make sense? Anyway I am also a HUGE fan of Jo Malone and I keep promising myself to buy just the small bottle since it’s pricey. But if I stop myelf from buying any makeup for the rest of the month then I can afford this luxury.

It’s a tough call right considering all the pretty options out there right now, huh? Hello…Chanel Laques!

I haven’t! I’ll have to see if I can find it and take a whiff :)

Jo Malone is just impressive to me. Very elegant, sophisticated, and luxury without being completely out of my reach. And the products make excellent gifts! :)

At least these are always around, so you can always wait a bit, too!

Sounds yummy! I like the sound of it, but wonder who carries it in Canada.

Jo Malone is carried at Holt Renfrew. :)

I’ve only been to Canada once or twice (I think Vancouver only), but both times were ages ago (must have been under 15), so never have seen a Holt Renfrew yet!

I love Holts, but am always scared of the pricing in there. Which is probably why I haven’t seen it there. I try to restrict my time in there because that would cause some very serious damage. :$

Btw, the Holts in Vancouver is the flagship, so you should come visit Christine!

LOL! OMG, that so used to be at Nordstrom. I would try to make a bee-line to where I needed to be and put on blinders to get out. I really should get some blinders now… that shoe department gets me EVERY time.

50 bucks for soap, that is insane.

It just depends on you, your budget, and what you want to spend money on. I’ll spend $30 on a lipstick, but I’ll quibble over paying $10 for a bath towel. I’ll use the bath towel for days and years, and I’ll probably use the lipstick a few times before moving on. Which is more practical?

In this instance, even though you can, obviously, grab soap for much less, if you use it everyday and enjoy it everyday, even at $50 (for three bars), you’ll probably get more value out of it than a lipstick you wear only a few times, you know?

Oh yeah, totally, I just rather spend my cash on makeup (like that $50 cle de peau gloss lol)!

    christine,

you have THE best beauty blog on the internet in my opinion. it is filled with such resourceful information. you are a talented writer and a talented makeup artist. i know this blog is your pride and joy. it shows how much time and work you put into it. i know that there are a lot of mean people out there hiding behind their computer screens leaving hurtful comments sometimes. however, you always remain humble and take their opinion as a contructive critism. you are a TRUE professional. keep up the good work and thank you so much for sharing yourself with the rest of us.

Lovely review! But It’s a bit of a waste of money for the average person, though, to spend so much on bar soaps in this economy – I won’t be picking these up.

P.S. You forgot the ‘oom’ in bathroom in the title :)

Ha, I actually wrote bathroom, and then decided just “bath” sounded better, so thanks, took off the r ;)
