A MAC Engagement – Shannon & Eddy – Congratulations from Temptalia!

One of Temptalia’s regular readers, Tekoa, has a very heartwarming tale she wanted to share with you.  I hope it brightens up your Saturday morning as much as it did for me when I first read it!  Now, let me let Tekoa tell you what happened…

The story begins in a MAC store. Eddy and I have been going out for about two years, and during that time we both became well known at the local MAC store. He is a classic enabler for my MAC addiction, offering such thoughts as ‘You should get all the Slimshines!’ and ‘I think you need another lipgloss. Lets go to MAC!’ Often, a date would involve him subtly directing me into the store to visit our Makeup Artist friends and to acquire a surprise present.

This month I was in Ethiopia/Israel for summer school. While I was away, Eddy worked with the MA’s for an incredibly romantic surprise. The day after I got back, he took me to the MAC store under the impression that there was a Super Secret launch that was being released that day. In retrospect, I really should have known better since Temptalia was silent on the matter :). Anyways, we walk in and greet people. Then he takes my hand and says that he lied to me; there was no Super Secret launch that day. And then Eddy gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. Awwww!

To celebrate the happy event, the MAC store itself had a surprise for me. It was a gift box full of makeup from the N Collection, Heatherette and Neo Sci Fi! Love and loot, I am a blessed girl indeed.

1) “It’s not a secret launch!” 2) The proposal

3) The ring! Happy! 4)YES!

CONGRATULATIONS SHANNON (TEKOA) & EDDY!

Black Friday Edge

I liked the idea of the Lit Cosmetics Black Friday contest on Instagram. The look had to be primarily black and use glitter.
Products used:
Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow Glitter in “Fireworks” (lid) and “Engagement Ring” (inner corner)
Napoleon Perdis Color Disc in “Leather and Lace” (crease and transition)
Urban Decay “Jilted” (Electric Palette, transition)
Urban Decay “Bobby Dazzle” (Vice 3 Palette, highlight)

Free for Haul Friday, Volume #219

Welcome to Free For Haul Friday!

  • Haul:  I bought the other Dior spring eyeshadow palette online yesterday, and it might even arrive today, which would be awesome!
  • Weekend plans: Brunch, then football on Sunday. I’d like to catch-up on my backlog of email and comments, too!
  • Favorite piece of jewelry you own?:  My wedding ring/engagement ring; it’s the only piece I wear 24/7, but I feel like that’s too obvious, so aside from that, the earrings my mom gave me for Christmas that are in the design of the Temptalia logo. She worked with my favorite Etsy jewelry designer, and I just love the way they look.

Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group! :)

This week’s Mellan photo/video…

Definitely Mellan’s longest toy!

I keep my ring on most of the time. When I first got it… well, I would take it off when I washed my hair, because it sometimes would get caught, but now I’m used to it. I do remove it when I apply hand or body cream – or for body, if you’re just doing legs or something, you can apply with one hand :) For face, I keep it on. What I like to do is set the rings on my nightstand OR on the lid of the jar – that way I see them before I put away the cream!

Introducing Livefyre Commenting System

We are currently trialing Livefyre’s commenting system, which we chose because we believe it offers some really key features that will improve engagement and interaction.  If you haven’t seen Livefyre before, you may be more familiar with its competitor, Disqus.  At its simplest, they’re both similar (but they are different overall)–they’re another commenting platform that allows for more features/options than the natural WordPress commenting platform.  There are several ways to login using existing IDs you may have around the web as well as a guest (or anonymous) option.  You can follow conversations, get notified of replies to your comments, tag other users in your comments, share with friends, like/flag comments, and more!

We hope you’ll enjoy the additional features, and we’ll be following the process carefully to ensure it’s a good fit for our readers! :)

Update:  Livefyre has addressed some of our concerns about features, which will be added very shortly, so we’ve re-enabled it :)  See, ask and you shall receive!

P.S. — With 700,000+ comments, the import process may take up to three days.  The most recent comments are being imported first, so there should be little disruption overall.
