Illamasqua Disobey Blush
Illamasqua Disobey Blush

Illamasqua Disobey Blush ($26.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “matte bronze.” It’s a medium-dark brown with subtle warm undertones and a matte finish. Too Faced Bronzed & Poreless is warmer–more orange. Burberry Summer Glow is warmer, richer, and has a satiny finish. Urban Decay Naked Flushed Bronzer is warmer. MAC Nude on Board is shimmery but similar in color.

It has a soft, finely-milled texture that applies smoothly and evenly onto the skin. It doesn’t look powdery applied, and it blends out easily because of how soft the powder is.  The pigmentation is very true-to-pan, and it is also buildable and can be sheered out, so it’s a matter of preference whether you want the color to resemble the pan or something softer.  The color on my medium complexion is warming but subtle, so it may be a better bronzer pick for lighter complexions.  However, this has only a subtle warmth to it, so it could also work as a contouring shade.  As a light contour, it is quite nice and shadowy enough to work as a contour.  Disobey wore for eight hours on my skin without fading, and after nine hours, there was some minor fading that was visible.

  1. I need this, I so need this. On my NC15 Skin, I can see this looking fantastic and not over the top! I’m so glad it’s not orange-y!

I could see this looking beautiful on paler skin tones

How does this compare to Nars Silvana? I’m on the hunt for brown-beige just “slightly bit of color but no specific color” blush!

I love that there are some great bronzers for light skin coming out! I don’t think this would work for my skin, though. I am very very light and also quite cool-toned. Just about everything looks orange on me. I find I have to mix my foundation (MUFE HD 110) with a tiny bit of cool toner. I know bronzers are meant to be warm pretty much by definition, but it would be lovely to see more cool-toned shades.

    Hi Christine!

I bought this blush after I saw It was Alex Box’s favorite contour product. I absolutely love it! It blends like a dream, because of the smooth and finely-milled texture! On me, it lasts more than 10 hours, without fading. I have light skin, with cool and neutral undertones, and It doesn’t look warm, or orange. I use it for contour and bronzer almost every day. It’s my HG!

I can’t say good enough things about it! :D

NikkieTutorials uses this all the time – and it sounds lovely! Unfortunately it’s hard to find Illamasqua products in Germany. I’ll have to order online. So I have a question: What do Illamasqua products smell like? Are the scented?

Illamasqua MUAs definitely do use this as a contour on lighter skintones :) Though, if you are pale and cooler toned, the cream pigment in Hollow is a fantastic option as well!

    Hi Christine!
Would this show up on a C40-NC 42 skin tone? I’m looking to replace Body Shop’s Honey Bronze 4. Also, how does it compare against Create by Illamasqua?
    Thanks!

  9. Do you think this would make for more natural contouring on fair (NW20) skin than MAC Sculpt?
