Hourglass Dune Eyeshadow Duo Review, Photos, Swatches

Hourglass Dune Eyeshadow Duo
Hourglass Dune Eyeshadow Duo

Still Loving Hourglass’ Visionaire Eyeshadow Duos

Hourglass Dune Eyeshadow Duo ($38.00 for 0.20 oz.) includes a champagne shimmer and deep olive shimmer eyeshadow. I picked up this shade during Sephora’s Friends & Family Sale, because I really love the texture of Hourglass’ eyeshadows–so smooth and buttery without being a powdery mess.

Dune has a shimmering gilded beige champagne with a metallic sheen accompanied by a darker, deeper, smoldering brown with flecks of green and copper shimmer.  Each eyeshadow was rich in pigmentation, applied flawlessly on the lid, and it was easy to blend them together.

Even though the price tag makes me cringe, keep in mind that you’re getting 0.20 oz. worth of product–MAC and Urban Decay eyeshadows are only 0.05 oz. ($14.50 and $17.00, respectively), while NARS Single Eyeshadows contain 0.07 oz. ($23.00).

Product & Review FAQ

Where can I purchase Dune? How much is it?

Sephora, $38.

Is it limited edition?

No.

Any dupes?

It's browner and darker than MAC The Family Crest Pigment. It has the same shimmer thing going on as Bobbi Brown's Black Cocoa, but it's a completely different shade of brown. It's similar to Urban Decay's Cobra, but it doesn't have the green cast. NARS Mekong would be the closest, but it's a little warmer.

sephora dont sell to my country . but i really like this . looks good

Pretty, but seriously not colours that flatter me in any way. For an olive skinned beauty, however, this would be awesome.

I'd love (love!) to see a look done with this.

Is it just me, or does it look like there's a giant nick out of the lighter side? Oh, and how does this compare to the NARS Rajasthan duo?

JK, I just compared pics and they look nothing alike.

Ok you got me, I couldn't resist and I ordered it! I have Prism and they really are such lovely shadows, even for the price.

Oooh beautiful!! I absolutely LOVE this!! Thumbed down for the price but thumbs up for the awesome colors ^__^

So there's a champagne and a brown shade? The brown shade looks green/grey on my monitor? I have the Chanel duo with Khaki & Clair and these shades look richer.

Those colors look great together! So nice to finally see a wearable duo.

what's the brush quality?does it actually work well?

It *is* better than your average included applicator - I don't think it competes with a high quality, full-sized eyeshadow brush, but it won't scratch up your lids.

GORGEOUS <3 I might have to check that out myself. Question: Is the brush that comes with it decent quality? From the pictures it looks a hell of a lot better than the usual sponge applicators and cheap bristled brushes that come with most eyeshadows.

I really like how the black has obvious gold in it.

Very beautiful.. Why dont availability in Spain??

This is pretty! I love the green.

i used to have one just like this from avon, and i have been looking for a replacement! this looks like it will work?

Looks a lot like the NARS duo Tzarine. Not sure how it compares, but pretty nonetheless.

OOH pretty! this duo begs for MAC soft brown haha. I see the need for soft brown in all smokey palettes.

Pretty! It looks somewhat like NARS tzarine---

Very pretty! I just found out about this brand, have heard their primer is also excellent.

this is beautiful but from the swatch, it looks like Nars Rajasthan are they similar?

Wow, these 2 shades are so pretty together! What did you think of the little brush it comes with though? Is it useless? I really hope you will do a look with this set, I would love to see how it turns out!
