  1. Do you consider a pen highlighter as a liquid highlighter? If so, then my vote goes to YSL Touche Eclat. I know, I know, how predictable can you be, right? :-) Well, Catrice has a pretty good highlighting pen, too. Ridiculously cheap, but also crazy good for its price.

I’m not a fan of liquid highlighters, but I have tried one by Sally Hansen. While it looks really nice, ant the formula is nice and thick/creamy, I just prefer the ease and convenience of a powder or stick. I’ve also used white foundation as a matte highlighter, but finding a highly pigmented white foundation can be a PITA to find in mainstream stores and counters.

I am a real fan of Benefit, I would say High Beam ( I have Sun Beam, Moon Beam too ), generally speaking Benefit has very good liquid highlighters.  The price is ok ( 23 € here I think ), definitely high beam is a pretty beauty product !

I would say either Benefit High Beam or Lancome Eclat Miracle.  I use them in different ways but I love them both.

  5. Kafka

NARS’ Copacabana Illuminator. An ethereal, angelic glow from within. *Much* better than Benefit’s High Beam, imo, but perhaps that’s just because of my skin tone (pale olive, no pink). I think the High Beam is wee bit more pink and also, more shimmery. That said, I do prefer the Copacabana in Multiple form to both, particularly as I think (though I may be crazy) that it’s more champagne-silver than the pinker Illuminator. The Multiple is truly one of the few products that is HG for me. I love, love, LURRRRVVVVE my Copacabana Multiple.

  6. I’d go with Kafka and say NARS’ Copacanaba illuminator. I’ve used High Beam and while I didn’t hate it, I’ve found NARS to be easier to work with. Never tried the Multiple version, but the regular ol’ illuminator is great! And it lasts for FOREVER.

  7. Liz

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick or Benefit High Beam!!

  8. trhoades

    Armani fluid sheer

  9. yellowlantern

I’ve only ever tried two (Copacanaba, and High Beam) so my overall picture of liquid highlighters is very limited, but between those two High Beam wins by a mile. It’s easy to work with and isn’t so shimmery to the point of making you look disco ball-esque. I find it gives a very flattering, sorta “innocent” look.

  10. Chelsea

I use L’Oreal’s Magic Lumi liquid highlighter – almost identical to Lancome’s Eclat Miracle, which I also love.

  11. TamaraMarks

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl!

  12. Mariella

The only ones I have (not counting YSL’s Touche Eclat, which I always considered more of a concealer) are Mac’s Strobe cream and Clarins’s Instant Light Complexion Perfector in the light pink/rose shade. I like them both well enough though I use them pretty infrequently.

  13. YUUUUP

Benefit Moon Beam, Benefit High Beam and Benefit Girl Meets Pearl and no, I will not pick a favorite because I’ve gone though all 3 in full size!

  14. clcoons

Another vote for High Beam here. It’s my holy grail!

    • Vanillasnow

clcoons Same vote for me too.  It’s the only liquid one I’ve bought (after testing out 4 or 5 in Sephora) and have been loving it.  No reason to try another really, plus it beats all my powder highlighters by far.

  15. Miss Madd

The Benefit High Beam! I just bought the Moon Beam today at Benefit’s Secret Sale. So excited to be having more Benefit products. :)

  16. CarinaC

For me its Illamasqua’s Illuminator in any of the colours. It applies beautifully and sets to last all day.

  17. BlakeNorwood

    I love all NARS illuminators.

  18. Year

Benefit High Beam! Perfect for my very very fair, cool/pink undertoned skin.

  19. Benefits high beam for sure!

  20. Sierrablue

My favorite is Rouge Bunny Rouges Sea of Tranquility highlighter, also like Benefit High Beam.

  21. Benefit High Beam.. sparingly as it really is quite greasy.  I grab this still on occassion when I want a more special or dramatic look, but I gravitate more towards Guerlain Meteorites and NARS The Multiple for regular daily use.

  22. I tried Moonbeam at one point ages ago and *shudder* hideous on me!

  23. winter100

hmmm… I think its a tie between Lancome eclat miracle and becca shimmering skin perfector in pearl.  Both are sheer, white and very realistic looking on pale skin.  Maybe eclat miracle wins by a hair because its not sented

  24. sethakins7

rouge bunny rouge- end of story. Their liquid highlighters are some of the priciest yet are also the best I’ve ever used. I use sea of showers practically every day and have had it for over a year and a half- highly worth it!

    • BooBooNinja

@sethakins7 Oh em gee. I really really want to try the RBR liquid illuminator. They are gorgeous! I only wish I could test them before pulling the trigger. ($$)

  25. Veronica

I just purchased NARS Copacabana the other day, and I suspect from how beautiful it looks on my skin, it’s going to cement NARS’ ownership of my consumer soul.

    • Kafka

@Veronica   “It’s going to cement NARS’ ownership of my consumer soul.”    Hahahahaha.  YAY!  Hurrah! <jumps up and down, and does a little jig around her desk>   First, I so relate to that ownership  (funniest and truest statement EVER!). Second, I so agree about Copacabana. I don’t know if you got the Multiple or the Illuminator but, either way, isn’t it gorgeous?  I still can’t stop grinning over that “NARS’ ownership  of my consumer soul” line.”  It’s so damn true. Almost embarassing at this point for me.  I know you liked your Albatross, but do you like the Copacabana more? I thought of you the other day because I took the reverse journey from you, by getting Albatross but *after* I got Copacabana. I haven’t received it yet and while it may look good, I doubt anything will move Copacabana from HG status for me. I truly have to force myself not to wear it *every* single day! LOL

      • BooBooNinja

Kafka Do you like the multiple or the liquid Copacabana more? I have combination skin… so dry/normal cheeks. I’ve never tried cream blush or liquid highlighter before. I also like subtle highlight.

        • Kafka

BooBooNinja  I *way* prefer the Multiple over the Illuminator. The liquid isn’t as easy for me to control, it’s much more shimmery and significantly more pink in my eyes. Since I don’t have pink in my skin tone, I think the champagne-pink of the Multiple suits me more. More importantly, it’s easier for me to control the amount and application. It’s not hard with the Illuminator but I personally find the Multiple an easier process. One swipe, a quick blend with the fingers, and that’s it. For both, though, I always apply the product *under* my foundation and I think that’s key in creating a really subtle glow that’s hard to pinpoint as “makeup.”  It definitely prevents any “Shiny, Disco Ball” problems when you do it that way.  Like you, I have combo skin but both have a creamy texture, at least initially. The Multiple turns from silky cream to a more powder form shortly after application. Perhaps that’s why I find it less intense in its shimmer than the Illuminator.  Or perhaps the Illuminator’s pinkness is why it’s a bit more apparent on my olive-with-yellow-undertones skin. What is your skin tone?

        • BooBooNinja

Kafka Thanks for the detailed response. I’ve got NC20/25 skin with yellow undertones. I’m not sure if I have any olive in me. Do you prefer liquid or powder highlight on your combination skin? My only experience is with powder products, but I’m curious about branching out. (However, I’d love, love, love to have a Fairy Makeup Godmother who’d give me the Burberry Sheer Summer Glow powder compact!)

  26. Ana G

For me Illamasqua illuminator :-) Lovely sheen and very easy to apply

  27. sunayhernandez1

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal and Rouge Bunny Rouge in Sea of shower are amazing!!!!! Those are the priciest in my makeup collection, and I wouldn´t purchase anyone else any more.

  28. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl.  I’m fair and it just looks like glowing skin – no glitter, disco ball or sparkle.

  29. squirrlycellist

I love Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl. It looks pink but transforms into a beautiful golden color. It give the skin a nice sheen not glitter.

  30. Easy – Benefit High Beam!

  31. I usually like powder highlighters but Josie Maran’s Argan Illuminizer is really pretty on my medium golden tone skin.

  32. ncb

Nars Copacabana – you need so little, it’a great

  33. ncb

NARS Liquid Illuminator in Copacabana – it’s soooo pretty. You need so little and ge so much I don’t mind the price and it’s Gorgeous!
