Guerlain Vega (125) Rouge Automatique Lipstick
Guerlain Vega (125) Rouge Automatique Lipstick
Guerlain Vega (125) Rouge Automatique Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a brightened ruby red with subtle ruby red micro-shimmer and a cool undertone. The shimmer is so fine that it makes the finish appear more like a traditional cream, but it adds extra reflection and gives lips a more luminous look. The color coverage is mostly opaque. Guerlain Liu is pinker and a bit darker. NYX Chic Red has more of a semi-matte finish and appears slightly cooler toned. Guerlain Garconne is redder, less blue-based.
Guerlain is a brand that knows how to create a lipstick formula. Though my very favorite formula remains its luxurious Rouge G, the newer Rouge Automatique is extremely comparable. I find Rouge Gs wear just a smidgen longer, feel the tiniest bit more hydrating, and the color range more nuanced–but these differences are minute. Rouge Automatiques wear from four to eight hours, depending on the color. Rich shades like Vega wear a solid six hours or longer and leave a soft stain behind even as they begin to fade. The formula is creamy and soft without feeling slippery or like it’s melting; it glides onto lips easily and deposits good color coverage in one pass. For more packaging photos, please see this post.
Where to Buy: Nordstrom, $35.
The Glossover
Rouge Automatique is a top-notch formula, because the creaminess of the texture enables it to glide on, making for an easy application, but it's lightweight and never slippery, so it stays on and wears for hours.

Thought it'd be darker on the lips. Still nice colour, but I don't like the concept of the packaging. Tried something similar with a lipbalm - simply not my taste. Prefer the classic one.
Gorgeous colour, but based on the numbers shouldn't it be an A+? Either way, you've sparked my obsession with Guerlain RAs. :)
it doesn't look anything on your lips like it does in the tube, or even in the swatch. gorgeous, though. looks so creamy!
Woo! Woo! So pretty! I recently bought my first red lipstick and I'm excited to try other variations of red and other Pop! colours!
Thanks for reviewing this one it's one of my all time favorite Guerlain shades. It's very dramatic on my super pale skin which I love. I just wish they had a shade just like this in the Rouge G formula.
WOW that is such a beautiful color! It looks so different on you than it does in the tube. I really really reallyyy want to buy a rouge automatique but I don't know how I'd be able to choose!
