Guerlain Gwen Rouge G Lipstick
Fall Lipstick: Guerlain’s Gwen
Guerlain Gwen (69) Rouge G Lipstick ($46.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deepened ruby red with a glossy sheen and nearly imperceptible micro-shimmer. It’s opaque, and like many Rouge Gs, wears incredibly well–my lips still looked scarlet after drinking a full Starbucks, and the color continued on like a champ for about six hours before gradually fading. It’s moisturizing without being heavy or slippery; it’s creamy but not slick. It applies like a dream–even color, smooth texture–and feels lightweight.
I think you’ve probably seen me profess my love for Rouge G Lipsticks often enough on the blog. It has and continues to be one of my favorite lipstick formulas, even if it comes at a price. All Rouge Gs are scented with a rather perfume-y mix, but I’ve never noticed it linger and only detect it when I smell the tube itself.

Hi Christine! How about compared to "Greta" Rouge G? How does the shade compare and which do you like better. Also, are Gwen and Gigi limited edition?
This is brighter but deeper. I like Gwen better, I'd say. I don't know if they are or not - my info doesn't say.
Thank you so much for helping me by answering all my questions :-)! Hehe I feel kind of embarassed and bad for always asking so many at times- sorry :-/
Could you specify when you do posts about Guerlain's Rouge Gs, whether or not they are from the Jewel Lipstick Compact line or the Le Brilliant Complete lipshine line, thanks!
Stunning colour, how perfect. But I just don't think I could persuade myself to spend that much on a lipstick. Maybe I'd ask for it for a Christmas present, but I think my mum/dad/boyfriend would have a cow if they knew lipsticks cost that much! Haha.
Actually - checking it out, they're available for £27 over here which although expensive works out far less than the US price (a MAC lipstick here is £12.50 so it's about twice the price - as opposed to $14.50/$46.) For once we're not getting scalped! Yay!
wow! i love this shade but i don't think i would pay that much for a lippie. are there any good dupes for this lippie?
MAC New York Apple is similar in color, though it has a frostier, drier finish, but a little clear gloss would help.
I love this color on you! It's gorgeous. Do you know any MAC dupes or dupes over all for this color?
MAC New York Apple would be the closest, though it's not exactly the same - the finish is also different!
what treatment do you use on your lips that makes them so smooth? your lips look great!! love the lipstick, it is definitely a must buy!
Are you going to post a look using the Maleficent part of the Mac collection? I can find looks using all the others, but I can't find anything other than Maleficent swatches. I'm eager to see!
I bought a Guelain in Grenade and realized it's a perfect dupe for an Avon lipstick I have. Same smooth texture, though probably not as long wearing. Can you think of any dupes (highend or low end) for this shade, because I absolutely adore it!
Sally Hansen's Garnet is the only drugstore dupe I can see after going through my Scarlet Season lipsticks -- it's more raspberry than Gwen, so Gwen is redder, but it has the same wet look and finish.
Doesn't look like Sally hansen sells that anymore. Well, I finally got my Gwen in the mail today. It's really lovely! I thank you but I'm not sure my wallet feels the same. ;)
Gorgeous color! How do you compare it to Chanel's Dragon (color wise). I'm brunette (well, graying...) and love the reds! Not sure if I want to spring for it as I still have a fairly new Dragon....
i own this colour and i love the texture of this lipstick. you are right. the colour lasts very very long!
I love this color so much!!! it is beautiful!!! do you think a pale cool toned gal can wear it without it going orange on her?! :)
I love Guerlain and have never been able to try their lippies yet.... do you prefer them or YSL? I'm just curious :) I love the selection of MAC but find some of their products slightly drying so I am moving on to better things! Also.... 92% is a B+? Thought it would be an A or something haha!
Ahh ok! Thanks for the suggestion, I will check both out next time I am in town and decide which one I like better! Thanks for the speedy response!
Love your blog. Wish I had lips like yours......shades I love on you look crappy on my garbage mouth!
This is pretty! I'm surprised that you only marked this 24 out of 30 for product - I would've thought you would have marked the product very high and the taken a few points off the value! I know you love this formula!
I know your opinion on rouge g better than you do! ;) LOL! One of these is def going to be my next investment - well maybe that or chanel allure laque! there's something about a new lipstick..
I bought one of each this week and prefer teh chanel allure laque. It's like satin on my lips! Doesnt mean I dont love this one too though. :D
Gee wizz... how pretty is that packaging. Gorgeous colour too. It even looks expensive on your lips! ha! :) Very nice indeed, Christine. And I love red lips. Unless you are Courtney Love, red lips just look so well put together on almost anybody I have ever seen.
