This was a major haul week for me. The highlight (well, until today) was finally receiving the Laura Mercier palette I ordered from a month ago. It was even better than I expected–5 mostly neutral e/s, 5 flattering lip colors, and 2 eye pencils in the same shade, Black Turquoise (that’s a bit odd, but I suppose they had to make it 2 because a full-sized pencil wouldn’t have fit into the compact). Last weekend I picked up a few nail polishes from Ulta, including a gorgeous purple called Celebutante. From a swap, I got MAC’s Mattene lipstick in ’40s Pink, Bobbi Brown Diamond Dust e/s in Snowflake, and Love & Beauty nail polish (from Forever 21) in Teal Blue. Capping off the week, today I finally caved and bought the new Chanel e/s singles, Vert Khaki and Taupe Grise, and the np in Paradoxal. Whew!

Excited for: promised break in the heat wave (even if it does mean rain).

Weekend plans: maybe a museum. Certainly playing with my new haul. 😉

didn’t end up buying makeup this week. lol. Preordered some stuff from the nordstrom sale – shoes, a bracelet, and across the universe from lippmann nail polish. the sales associate helping me and i have been playing phone tag but i aim to get bad romance too. planned on going to a fashion, jewelry, and accessories trade show but i am running out of money and energy lol; might just spend time studying – summer class finals next week! otherwise sunday = 7/11 = friends and i going to various 7-elevens in the city collecting free 7.11oz slurpees lol

Haul: Covergirl Lash Blast, Jergens Firming Natural Glow Daily Mositurizer

    Excited for: Hiking tomorrow!

    Friday plans: Party time!

  10. Lena

Haul: MAC pigment in Later., nail lacquers in Morning After and Military, and lipstick in Jazzed, and Crazy Rumors Perk lipbalm in Mocha.
Excited for: Relaxing, sleeping in, and reading next week while blasting the AC. It was over 100 degrees here on Monday!
Friday plans: Well, Friday’s technically over, but I spent my day going to MAC to grab Jazzed lipstick, which I didn’t get on Thursday and regretted, and then just watched a movie with my dad and hung out. I’m exhausted after having some dental work done and walking my dog a ton in the heat this week!

My haul was 2 stereo rose, fresh morrocan, easy Lounger, creamola liner, contrast and bronze shadows and my gf actually sat in MAC the entire hour I was there.

My Friday plans only include learning to blend better

I’m looking forward to my henna-ing appointment tomorrow at Lush

Hauled a couple lipsticks, eyeshadows, and lipglosses while I was in Vancouver last week, but unfortunately missed in the groove :( I was really hoping to pick up By Candlelight that I missed from Warm&Cozy, which I loved for my pale skin even then. Unfortunately, its already sold out on the Canadian website, and it says I can’t order internationally? Do you have any suggestions how I could find it? On line/by phone is pretty much my only option. By the way, I love the look you did for swatching the Lancome blush, with your upper lash line lined, it’s too bad you react badly to it, it looks gorgeous on you!

  13. Tera

Haul: MAC Petticoat MSF & Brush Cleaner
Excited For:Starting my new job on Tuesday
Friday Plans:Hanging out and maybe some drinks with friends.

  14. Cherie

    Aww Mellan!! So sweet :)

Haul: MAC 15-palette pan, paint in bare canvas and blot powder. Boring every day stuff. I skipped teh Groove collection. Going to hold back on beauty spending until MAC Feline and Villians collection. Just the necessary items for now.

Exited for: The bf’s bday weekend!!!! We are having a bbq wtih friends this evening and dinner with family tomorrow :) This means my internet surfing Satuday morning ends after this post and I have to clean, prep and cook for the parrrrtay :)

    Have a good weekend :)

  15. Rosie

Haul: MAC Vegas Volt lipstick, Vibrant Grape e/s, brush cleanser
N.Y.C blushable Creme Stick in Big Apple Blush and Urban Spice.

Excited: To have started with a new program at my work and be able to serve that population. The earthquake on Wednesday was also very entertaining as it broke up a study session and being on the 6th floor of a building we felt it longer and probably a bit more intense.

Weekend plans: Not looking forward to online traffic school and paying for my speeding ticket. Plus I wish it’d heat up just a little or that the sun would shine through. It’s July in Orange County for crying out loud!

  16. Kate & Zena

Haul: Nada. I was dirt poor with $4 in my bank account until today. I did get some prizes from winning giveaways though! I got the Avon glazewear set (ended up giving 5 to Mom since she’s darker than me naturally), an eye shadow and some other miscellaneous stuff. Oh yea, I can’t forget Nfu-Oh #51 nail polish. It’s GODLY. I had the hardest time convincing myself to open it because it was so pretty. I don’t think I can bear using it because the bottle (which is so girly and amazing) would look weird with a half-full thing o’ 51. I think I may need to do some major Nfu-Oh hauling; although, I weep at the $12.50 price tag. It’s like Illamasqua’s polishes; amazing quality and colors, choke-worthy sticker price (I’m a military kid! big prices for luxury items like make-up aren’t part of living military).

Excited for: The warm weather! It supposed to t-storm tonight which means I’m going to have tranquilize Zena. I just LOVE having a dog that has brontophobia. We’ve had to upgrade to Xanax because the old tranquilizers just weren’t cutting it. My dog takes human tranquilizers. Lovely.

Saturday plans (Friday is just about done here in the Midwest. It’s 8:30 PM!): I think I may buy Nars Sheer Glow in Siberia. Hopefully, I’ll have some money left over from hunting for a new purse to buy Siberia. I’m not quite sure if it’s going to be okay for my hyper-sensitive, acne-prone combination skin, but that’s what Sephora is for! Free returns!

    • Yay for winning contests! Congrats 😉

LOL, that was me paying for Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes…

      • Kate & Zena

I’m so used to paying lower prices (the joy of e-tailers) that the Illamasqua just choked me. I had the hardest time clicking “send.” It took me three minutes to press the darn button and I NEVER have problems clicking that button. If anything, I love that button. I have no problems with purchasing Illamasqua now.

New brands = panicking about pressing “send” (the famous quote “To do or not to do, that is the question” comes to mind)

        • LOL! I totally understand. I put like $500 worth of Burberry products into my cart (and I’m really way too comfortable buying designer/luxury brands at this point), and I was like, “WAIT, WHAT AM I DOING?” and I managed to take out $100 worth… “IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS BLOGGING…!” and pressed submit!

          • Kate & Zena

Or better yet, “All in the name of fewer allergic reactions!” That’s my go to “I should feel better about purchasing $100 in products and I only got, like, four items” saying. $100 is a lot to me.

For bras, my saying is, “Happy breasts equals a Happy Katie” because I about die paying $80 w/out tax for two bras. I’m at that point in my life where I have to start paying for things with my own money and that really sucks (I still live at home, but yea, not fun considering I’m not what people call “employed.” I keep the house clean for my parents). It was so much easier when I was using my dad’s ATM card! Ah, the Holy Debit Card, how I miss thee.

            • Yeah, I had the same shock ‘n awe moment when I fell out of the nice, comfy nest! My parents took care of my expenses (not makeup & clothes outside of back-to-school shopping, though), and let me tell you, after I graduated, I immediately moved in with my boyfriend in my first apartment… WHEW! the expenses. I never used to look at receipts… but now I do!

            • Kate & Zena

I don’t even want to think about living on my own yet. My parents think I’m going to be living here as long as Zena is alive (have I mentioned she’s 6 and these breeds can live to be 16?). We’ll see. I don’t like the idea of living with my parents when I’m 31 though!

Oh, I’ve seen bills. That’s no problem for me; I got over that shock a long time ago. When I fist moved off base (I was 9 and my mom chose to move us to Wisconsin so we could be near family while my dad spent a year on the DMZ in SK), I thought the utilities would still be free, but boy was I surprised to see this thing known as a water bill…and an electricity bill. And a gas bill and other bills I can’t think of. I remember going to my mom and asking, “Mom, what are these?” because I hadn’t ever seen one before! I’ve seen cable and phone bills yes, but when you live on military bases, all of your utilities are paid except the cable and phone (no dish allowed on most bases!). My mom had to remember we didn’t (the kids) didn’t grow up in civilian housing.

The one bill I do dread having to start paying is the car insurance bill. The very best insurance means a higher bill (yep, I have USAA).

            • Wow! I can imagine that would be quite a shock to start getting all these bills then!

I remember when my mom was like, “So, when are you going to pay us back for the car insurance?”

I know I’m late but I had a long weekend and didn’t get to see this post until today :-)

I hauled Stereo Rose & Jazzed lipstick. And about 20 tubes of Neutrogena Clear Pore cleanser/mask that I cleared from the shelves since they’re discontinuing it. It’s my HG cleanser in conjunction with my Clarisonic! How dare Neutrogena discontinue such good products!

Anyway, I’m always happy to see pics of Mellan. He’s so CUTE!
