Formula X Freaky Like Freud Nail Lacquer
Formula X Freaky Like Freud Nail Lacquer

Formula X Freaky Like Freud Nail Lacquer ($12.50 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “periwinkle iridescent glitter.” It’s a cool-toned, gray-purple with holographic micro-glitter. It was semi-opaque after two coats. I also tried layering one coat over black, which gave a really pretty effect. If you were willing to apply three coats, I think it could also be worn on its own, otherwise I would recommend a solid base coat first. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, and I had no trouble applying the polish, either alone or as a top coat, as the glitter spread evenly. I don’t know of a dupe based on what I’ve reviewed in the past, so if you happen to know of one, please feel free to suggest!

Law of Attraction Nail Lacquer ($12.50 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “champagne and blue 3D glitter.” It has a pale, metallic gold shimmer as the base color with medium blue glitter that seemed to appear almost holographic depending on the angle/lighting. Two coats of this polish alone was still noticeably sheer as there doesn’t seem to be a real base color, just a lot of gold shimmer. When I applied one coat over a black cream, it seems a lot more pigmented. It doesn’t apply as evenly as is desirable, which might be the result of a thicker consistency that was harder to control on the nail. Unfortunately, I don’t have any possible dupes to suggest for this one, but I’d love to hear from you if you know of one.

  6. Hmmm, both definitely look interesting. But in all honesty, they don’t wow me. Maybe the colors are just a bit off for me, I don’t know.

  7. Law of Attraction looks very similar to Essie On a Silver Platter!

  8. Danielle

Essie On a Silver Platter from the Holiday Collection looks like a dupe for Law of attraction : )

  9. Cathy

Hi, “Law of Attraction” looks identical to Essie ” On a Silver Platter” and sounds like they both have the same problems with application. I have “Like Freud” too, but it is a nightmare to remove. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    • These days, I usually use one of the polish removing tubs where you stick your fingers in, then slide them out :)

    • For stubborn glitter polishes I take a small cotton ball with remover that I package onto my nail with aluminum foil. Do this for each finger and leave on for about five mins. After that you can twist the bundle a little and all the polish will be off. It’s the easiest method I’ve tried :)

    • Carrie

I absolutely second the foil method that the second Christine describe. It is a SANITY saver for glitter and other stubborn polishes!

Law of Attraction kind of looks like the new Essie On a Silver Platter! I just saw swatches of that last night and it was also a silvery gold glitter with blue larger glitters

They’re both pretty! Law of Attraction looks a LOT like On a Silver Platter that just came out for Essie’s holiday collection.

  12. Melissa

Happy holidays Christine! Thanks for all your hard work. It looks to me like Essie’s on a silver platter could be a dupe for law of attraction.

  13. Anni

A dupe for Law of Attraction would be Essie’s “On a Silver Platter”!

  14. Kelsey

Law of Attraction looks like Essie On a Silver Platter. It’s from their newish collection of textured polishes. Great swatches!

  15. Varika

The law of attraction one reminds me Essie on a silver platter!

  16. Megan

I think Essie On a Silver Platter is pretty much an exact dupe for Law o Attraction!

  17. Olivia

I picked up Essie Hors D’Oeuveres this week and Law of Attraction looks exactly the same! It’s such a gorgeous color. Essie’s is also quite sheer but it looks amazing when opaque. I bet Formula X does, too!

  18. I usually don’t go for glitter polish, but I really like both of these!

  19. I think I need to get Freaky Like Freud just because of the name.

  20. I have oth of these on my wish list. Thanks for the great swatches Christine :)

  21. Law of Attraction is definitely more amped with a black polish underneath! What a difference! That gold definitely popped way more than I expected. Very pretty colors!

I love both polishes! But I definitely love the name Freaky like Freud because I’m a psychology major lol
