Dolce & Gabbana Lipgloss: Charm, Candy

Dolce & Gabbana Lipgloss: Charm & Candy

Dolce & Gabbana Lipgloss ($29.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a slightly tacky, mostly glossy, lipgloss. These have a shine that’s glossier than your average lipgloss, so lips look very lush and juicy. I’ve tried a few different shades of Dolce & Gabbana’s lipglosses, and they seem to be on the sheerer side, with nothing being completely opaque. I like that they’re moisturizing, and they fade really well when they wear away. I only get about two to three hours of wear, which is a little below average for me. These glosses are rose-scented but don’t seem to have any taste.

  • Charm is a sheer medium pink with fuchsia and ruby sparkle.
  • Candy is a semi-sheer milky medium pink with no shimmer just a glossy shine.

With just 0.13 oz. in a tube (compared to 0.20 oz. for other high-end brands like Chanel, Guerlain, and YSL), these are pricey.  Overall, they’re nice glosses, but it’s not quite the holy grail.  For the price tag, I’d probably opt for Chanel or Guerlain glosses instead–or perhaps Dior’s Ultra Gloss.

RECOMMENDATION: These are definitely a splurge item.  If you’re able to check out the line in person and you find a shade that really works for you, I think it’s worth getting.  But if you’re just shopping around for a new gloss, there are a few others I’d consider before these.

I bought 3 of these glosses and I simply can’t use them. The smell is sooooo strong, it’s awfull! The worst lp that I ever used :(

I loved the sparkle in charm
but probably won’t buy it >> because of the sparkle ! lol
and I <33333 that Candy lipgloss
I believe it will look amazing over Nars Niagra lipstick !

  5. Steph

Very pretty, but $29 for a sheer gloss. The glitter is pretty though!

I have one of these glosses in Charm, and I found the scent so obnoxious it gives me a headache. It doesn’t seem to fade as I wear it. I’ve never been bothered by the scent of any other product before; this is the only one. It is so pretty though, I’m just glad I only bought one instead of both of the glosses I was considering.

    • Oh no! :( I am thankful I am not sensitive to scents, although maybe I’m not, since it means I have more to choose from and thus more to buy, LOL.

The second one is nice! Would be good over pink lipsticks. The first one is extremely ‘meh’ though!

They look so pretty in the tube, but on your swatches they are so sheer! I couldn’t justify spending $29 for such a sheer gloss. There are other, less expensive fuschia sparkle glosses out there that give way more color payoff, including one from MAC digi-pops.

  9. I put charm lipgloss on top of girl about town!

  10. Charlotte

I think these would be really great for layering. Do they have any smell/taste?

  11. Charlotte

Oh d’uh! Ignore my previous question!

I managed to get the color Passion for a mere $13 (including shipping) on ebay. Because it is sheer I needed a base color and so found Revlon’s Just Bitten lipstain + balm also, conveniently, in the name Passion to be perfect. The combination, especially with the bonus of Dolce & Gabbana’s lipgloss having the sparkles, is gorgeous.
