brown looks so .. plain.. so yeah i can say i avoid it

I have brown eyes and I stay away from brown eyeshadows that are too close to my eye color. If I wear brown eyeshadow that is too close to my eye color, from far away it looks like I have two giant holes in my face XDD. Also, I find that it makes me look tired. I also find lighter browns (taupes) hard to pull off but that may because they tend to be too warm for my skintone.

I can't use colors that match my actual eye color which changes but it is normally a medium green. Olives make my eyes look this nasty acid green. I have been playing with lighter and bright greens like the one in my ammo box from urban decay and with other colors they look fine.

Yes - I have golden brown eyes with hints of olive green, and shades like Stila Golighty or that old Jane shade magical mushroom were very close - looked great with lots of black liner and mascara. I do tend to use neutral more though - especially cooler leaning neutrals because they really emphasize the warm gold and green tones. Reddish and purple tones look good too.

Yes! I love green eyeshadow. The blue part of my eyes get little love, though...

Oh course. Some kind of blue/green really empathize my eye colour! Vale

I have light blue/ grey eyes and I use both grey/ silver and blue eye shadows. I find that doing this makes my eyes look more like the other colour (i.e., blue shadows make my eyes look grey and vice versa), but they still work.

I have brown eyes and I love neutral colors. I have no problem wearing brown shadows, mainly in crease though.

I have brown eyes, so when I want a more subtle everyday look, I often use brown eyeshadow. Otherwise, I like playing with colors.

i've tried it. i recently bought the urban decay book of shadows volume 2, and misdemeanor is EXACTLY the color of my eyes. i've used it as a liner, and it looks pretty good, but not as an all-over shadow.

No way, I feel like if you do that it just makes your eyes look like a big muddy mess! If you have blue eyes and wanna wear blue, make sure you use a DIFFERENT shade of blue. Same with green, brown, ect. It just looks trashy and unrefined if you wear the same color.

I disagree 100%. I have blue grey eyes, and I've often worn blues that are similar, if not the same shade, to my eye colour. I know how to apply my makeup, and I've never looked trashy or unrefined. I've seen many women use colours that are very similar to their own eye colour, and unless they have a terrible application technique, it looks absolutely fine.

yes brown eyeshadow looks so good on brown eyes :)

I don't - I have blue/gray eyes and I tend to do badly with cool toned shadows to begin with (gray looks weird and harsh on me).

Funny that this is the question, I was just thinking about this about five minutes ago! Yes.. I recently bought an UB green eyeshadow called Chains (green with gold shimmer) and it is absolutely gorgeous! I don't mind it with my green eyes, in fact, the colours are quite similar and the shadow looks great paired with an antique gold (I use Benefits Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit).

My eyes are blue-grey, I can wear greys better than blue. I also like light green eyeshadow with my eyes (think springtime skipper).

I have dark brown eyes and i wear dark brown eyeshadow only as a liner.

Yes, of course! Basically, I wear every and any colour that I happen to like. I adore blues, and while some blues look better next to my skin tone than others, it does not prevent me from mixing and matching with my different blue shades.

I have green eyes and while I like my neutrals ...I can wear green eyeshadow as long as it isn't some wild shade of green and leans on the neutral demure side.

I have dark brown eyes...bordering on black and I do find that I wear browns a lot. I dont think it is to match my eyes, but it is what looks best with my skintone and b/c browns can be used as neutrals for daytime/office looks and can be smoked for darker looks. I do think that it is easier to wear browns with brown eyes than matching e/s to any other eye color.

I have dark brown eyes and I don't particularly avoid it. I just prefer other colors. Like warm pinks and golds, bronzes, and smoky grays is where my heart is. <3

Yes, but only because I love brown (and neutrals in general) and I happen to have brown eyes, not because I want to match the two.

No - I have blue-green eyes and blue shadow does not flatter my eye color or the rest of my coloring (red hair, super pale skin. I do like deep teal shades tho, like Chanel Murano quad.

yes, but only because I have brown eyes

YES! I have light brown eyes and I love to wear brown eyeshadow! But I think this maybe easier for the brown-eyed girls to pull off than ladies with other eye colors.

brown e/s look GORGEOUS with brown eyes, so yes :) esp purpley browns or blackened browns

Not really. I have dark brown eyes and it so happens that browns are my favorite shades. ^^;; I have yet to discover other colors that would suit me. :P

I have brown eyes and rarely wear brown shadow. I prefer the opposite side of the color spectrum, like purples. I really lean towards jewel tones for my eyes to stand out.

Yes! My eyes are blue green and I love wearing shades of aqua and teal. :)

Oh yes, I have brown eyes and I love to wear warm brown eyeshadows.

Because I have blue eyes, I don't wear eyeshadow that matches my eye color very often. When I do I love to wear turquoise blue colors because they make my eyes pop!

I never purposely wear my shadows to "bring out" the color of my eyes..

Same. I only do so when I am doing a quick 5 minute look, and will be wearing just one eyeshadow and mascara, and maybe liner. With my blue eyes, I tend to go for the browns, as they work nicely with my eye colour and are easy to just throw on without creating a detailed look.

I have brown eyes so I definitely love my brown shadows and all the other countless colors Browneyed girls can wear.

My eyes are the deep brown color that starts to border on the black, but the softer side, if that makes sense. I don't like dark browns or black too much and when I do use them I usually mix them in with another color.

I'm the same as Johnfiend, I have blue eyes, or as my husband refers to them "Bley"(blue + gray) so I avoid blue eyeshadows. It is ironic though, because I am rocking a blue eye today, so I guess I'm a hypocrite! I've got on Deep Truth, Cumulus, and Crystal. (I do own blue eyeshadow, but I tend to use it more as an eyeliner). I will wear blue eyeliner though, especially in the water line. It brings out the blue of my eyes a bit.

Oh definitely. I LOVE blue eye shadow, screw the rules! :]

Well, I have brown eyes. And I avoid browns like the plague. Not only because neutrals are not my style at all, but browns look horrific on me.

Brown eyes do not like brown eye shadow

I usually don't wear shadow that matches my green eyes...usually its purples and browns. I have several pretty greens I could wear together so I may try wearing green more often!

no, I have hazel eyes & though I like green I only put a little on if any. I try to mix different colors for different effects, but i typically dont like the matchy matchy look.

I have dark green eyes, and my favourite eyeshadow color to wear, aside from taupe-y neutrals, is actually green, but my red hair also makes it easier as I think green goes perfectly with red hair! Not every shade of green suits my eyes I'd say, but I have a huge selection of green colors that I like to wear, from pastell-green over mint to lime, sage, antique gold, all kinds of grey-greens from light to dark, emerald, spring green, bottle green.. and so on. I'm always on the hunt for clothes in nice shades of green, which again makes green eyeshadow easier to wear, green's just my favourite color. :D

I definitely tend to avoid matching shadow on my blue eyes... I did recently purchase MAC's 'Love Lace' shadow hoping that it had enough gray in it to be workable and with a light hand it is.... But generally I don't look favorably on blue toned eyeshadow regardless of eye color, whether its a trend or not... *shrug*

Actually, I do :-/ I have dark brown eyes and I LOVE my neutrals wich includes brown. But I never wear a brown shadow all over the lid, I always compair it with a lighter color

Yes! I've hazel eyes, but I've a mix of a couple greens and browns so I never completely matched my eyes when I wear e/s! (srry that was so long lol!)

I have blue eyes but rarely wear blue shadow as I am more of a neutral girl myself ! :) But I think, if I had brown eyes, it wouldn't stop me from wearing brown shadows

Sometimes, but usually I prefer other colors, especially dark or bright colors

I have green eyes and I will occassionally match a green shadow with some purple, gold, or brown. It can make for a lovely look. I do have a hard time pulling off blue shadows with my green eyes...does anyone have any suggestions for blues I should try?

I have very dark brown eyes and while I do wear brown eyeshadows, it's not to match my eyes, just if I fancy. I wear every colour in fact.
