Never. I tried buying the Urban Decay Lingerie/Galoshes set way back when, and I saw nooooooooo difference, except that it made my mascara clump WAY more. After that, I was using Kiss Me mascara, which supposedly forms a solid tube around the lash. And the primer REALLY doesnt work with that. If I found a good one, it might convince me of its usefulness, but simply using diorshow mascara and a lash curler has gotten me WAY better results, than any primer I’ve tried.
I’ve never used it but I’ve always been curious. Does it really make a noticeable difference?
Nope… But I would really like to test it. I’ve noticed how, by the end of the day, I don’t have any more mascara on my eyelashes
I’m assuming that using it by itself they could give the appearance of a more subtle mascara, which would be nice for certain ocasions
no. i have mac’s eyelash primer… but i don’t really “get it.” for me, it just makes the mascara harder to apply.
I couldn’t imagine leaving my house without either shiseido the makeup mascara base and clinique lash building primer
I remember buying one of those crappy 2-in-1 mascaras from Maybelline, that had the white side and the regular side. All that it did was leave my lashes with little white gaps, clumped my lashes, and looked overall very weird. I find it’s also more trouble than it is worth. I don’t even curl my lashes – why bother priming them? Plus, due to my UDPP, I always have a primer of sorts on my lashes haha.
I have never used one but some bloggers out there swear by it and their lashes look great, so I would be trying one or a few eventually. I don’t know if I would stick to it though, since I have always be fine with just mascara. I think with a good curler and the right mascaras, a primer may not be necessary.
I sometimes use it with certain mascaras. With Diorshow I don’t use it, with Plushlash I do use it.
I like the idea, but I’m generally too lazy to use it. The ones I’ve tried in the past didn’t make it worth my time. However, a ton of women told me recently that the Shiseido primer’s amazing, so I ordered it. It’s clear, not white, so that’s good. I hated trying to cover the white before.
I used to use Shu Uemura’s Lash Repair but it was very pricey, so I gave MAC’s Prep and Prime Lash a shot and I think it works as well (except Shu’s had the repair aspect to it). It definitely keeps mascara from smudging and also makes it easier to remove at night.
I think it really gives my lashes that extra “WOW” hardly a mascara does .. so sometimes when I go out I use MACs!
I NEVER used to but I tried Clinique’s and I was pretty impressed. Not so much with the effect it gave but that it makes my mascara LAST. By the end of the day, it sometimes looked like I wasn’t wearing mascara at all and with this stuff it looks the same as when I just applied it.
I don’t use eyelash primer unless it’s one of those two-in-one mascaras that includes a primer, and I’m not so sure I like them. I love the concept of using an eyelash primers, but I also find that they make it easier for mascara to clump.
I tried Smashbox’s eyelash primer and it was awful. For me, I love to have beautifully curled eyelashes, and this primer just did not hold the curl at all. In fact, my mascara worked better alone. However, if someone were to recommend an amazing eyelash primer I might try it.
I love Oscillation Power Booster from Lancome. Unfortunately 36 or so dollars is not exactly what I call a bargain. I used the free one I got when I was working for them & never purchased it again. I luckily was blessed with decent lashes so I can do without.
Now I have Make up forever primer, but Lancome primer worked better
It is a ‘must’ for my Asian clients. My favorite is MAC P+P, it just makes huge difference for people who don’t have thick/full lashes
I agree! Its a definite MUST for me. My HG is Shiseido Mascara Base… it does wonders on my sparse asian lashes no matter which mascara i use on top.
My lashes are very, very straight. So I need to use an eyelash primer with every mascara, EXCEPT the Shiseido Lasting Lift. That’s the only *true* curling mascara I have ever used, that holds a nice curl on my lashes without a primer.
My primer of choice is the Shiseido mascara base. It holds a curl better than any other primer out there. If I put this primer on, any mascara I put on top of it looks good.
I use Clinique’s eyelash primer and I love it. It makes my lashes look much longer.
I only wear eyelash primer if I happen to buy one of those double ended mascaras with a primer on one end and a mascara on the other.
But I wouldn’t normally wear one otherwise.
I’m not a primer, coat, curl, and comb person. I think if you need all that you should probably try a new mascara.
Sheisedo Mascara Base is my favorite ! wee !!!
I really don’t too often because in most cases, it really does nothing for short lashes if your looking for more length. I really never hear about a primer that achieves this, really its just about the mascara. Primer really just does nothing than act as an adhesive I guess. I prefer drug store brand mascara and things for my lashes but I do own Clinique’s and The Body Shop’s two-sided mascaras with primers and such and none of it stood out as brilliant, just harder to a good coat of mascara like others said.
I’ve only just discovered it and I find that with the primer, my lashes don’t feel so stiff and yuck. They feel far more natural!
I use Make Up For Ever Lash Fibers nearly ever single time I wear mascara. Definitely helps my mascara last longer and gives a bit of oomph.
