I sort of do- I keep wish lists/favorites lists on the beauty sites I shop most frequently (Sephora, ULTA,, etc). But I don’t have a single master list anywhere.

  2. Veronica

Yep. It’s categorized first by lip, eye, face, and tool product, then by brand and status (LE/permanent). I alter it fairly often, adding products as I find or buy them, or removing one if I find a dupe or similar shade from I brand that I prefer. Currently, the list is fairly large and running close to $700 worth of items, but it’s been as low as 8-10 products when I “clean house,” so to speak. :)

    • I have a list similarly categorized except I do not have LE items on the list. I have it by where the product is going e.g. lips, face, tools and etc. then under each I have the brands alphabetized with name of the product. I do this because it keeps me organized and I can save up for items I want because I never really spontaneously purchase beauty products. Once I get the items on my list in particular for blush and tools; I will not continue buying more. I may consider doing what Christine does which is to buy multiples of the same brush in order to reduce having to continuously wash them.

I have all kinds of bookmarks of items/look etc that I’ve found online and through reviews. I fairly recently created an excel “master wishlist” that has items beauty related, clothes, jewelry, tools etc. Perhaps that makes me sound really materialistic but I try to plan my purchases carefully. For instance, I really need some new cardigans and a neutral bag for work so I can prioritize that over the 2-3 blushes I’ve been lusting after for a year.

    • Rissa

Eeeeeep yes. But it’s so out of hand it’s just a hot mess

    • Agreed this does help with keeping priorities in order and carefully planning purchases. I do something similar with “personal needs/wants” except I do it on Evernote (Excel alone doesn’t quite do it for me–sometimes I need to note commentary to go along with an item). Items I consider “basic” that need to be restocked soon (like toothpaste) are also added to this list bc it is still money out of my pocket for grooming.

I also have shopping lists across several online retailers. I don’t use these as much anymore bc many of these aren’t easy to remove once-wanted items from and well…my wishlist is huge.

  4. I use a Pinterest board for my wishlist that I update constantly. I think it’s easy to use, and when I make the pin for an item I include a link for where to buy it, or pin it directly from the retailer.

  5. Didn’t used to but now I use the Sephora wishlist feature pretty heavily. I also have a running memo on my phone/computer of mac eyeshadows and other products that I still want to get. And then little post-its here and there of stuff that catches my interest. Not the most organized of systems but somehow I manage to buy makeup constantly anyway :)

My basket is always full and I edit it until I place my next order… :)

  7. Thanks to the “wish list” here at, I do now add items I might seriously want and that you review to the “Wish List”. Christine, now might be a good time to ask – can a person add items and brands that you haven’t reviewed or is it limited only to products and brands that have been reviewed here?

    • Hey Mariella,

It has to be products that are in the database, which right now is limited to what we’ve compiled so far (tons and tons of stuff I haven’t reviewed) – we’re going brand by brand to add each brand’s products/formulas but it is a bit of a time consuming task.

      Thank you!

  8. I do keep a wishlist, but I tend to update more as it gets closer to Christmas.

  9. Candace

I’m a big list maker, and my makeup wishlist is right on my computer desktop. It’s in informal categories such as “want to research further,” “definitely want to buy,” “will wait for a sale,” etc. I have the items color-coded by which store carries it, too. Overall it’s about $300 – eep!

  10. Oh girl do I ever have a wish list. It changes a lot based on what new sparkly thing is taking my attention. Right now it looks like:
    1. LMDB Saint-Domingue Kaleidoscope
    2. Chanel Illusion D’Ombre shadows in Fatal and Initiation
    3. Chanel Rouge Coco in Etoile
    4. YSL gel eyeliner in Cherry Black (or Black Burgundy…haven’t decided)
    5. Tom Ford Orchid Haze palette
    6. Some Suqqu eyeshadow palettes (did you see that Selfridges now ships to the US. The shipping price is crazy, though).
    7. Wayne Goss brushes #4 & #6 (when they’re back in stock)
    8. Urban Decay shattered palette (bought Vice 2 and love it)
    9. More Mally Beauty Evercolor Shadow Sticks (tried Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown and these are still the best I’ve found)

The list goes on. I love holiday value sets and I’m still waiting to see what Giorgio Armani and Dior come out with.

  11. I have one, in my head :-) Never really on paper.

  12. A Name

Yep! I love making lists, so I’m kind of obsessive about arranging it too.

  13. Sure, if I see something on a blog or youtube .. I write down the product and color or I print out the blog page. It’s a never ending list .. I don’t buy everything on it though – I’d be broke!

  14. Jill

Not a physical list, but I always keep certain brands/products I want to try in mind whenever I come across a good discount (because I usually lust after expensive products). If I keep wanting the same product for a long time, I’ll eventually gift it to myself but usually I’ll find something new to love instead.

  15. Terri

My list is basically in my head but the one product I am desperately longing for is the Suqqu face brush and……crap!! I just logged onto the site to make sure I was spelling the name correctly and Selfridges is now offering International Delivery, which was the one thing holding me back other than the price. I really should NOT buy this brush. Oh, who am I kidding? :)

  16. Terri

I just did the conversion for the brush and it works out to $309 US dollars….wow. I still want it though!!

  17. Bee

I’m too unorganized to keep a list for long. :c

  18. Vanessa

I have a list, but it’s short (5 things?) and I rarely look at it. When I get back to it, the beauty is I usually find that I don’t want (for example) 4 out of the 5 items anymore. So then I can restart my list with one thing.

    I’m weird. I know. 😉

  19. Janeen

I use Sephora’s wish list as my master wish list. I might end up buying the product elsewhere, but that’s where I add and delete everything. Right now only thing I have are UD’s Vice 2 (Vice 1 was too crazy colorful, this one looks gorgeous), Ocho Loco 2 (loved the first one), and the Black Market set which I just took the plunge and bought today as part of my retail post break-up therapy :) I’m waiting for a 20% off on either Ulta or Sephora before I buy Vice 2 and Ocho Loco 2. And then I tell myself no more! Hahaha. As if :(

  20. mine is usually included in my christmas list… i always make sure to state where it can be bought and which color i’d like.. my mom knows how much i love makeup so she usually gets me a few goodies =]

  22. I have multiple wish lists/favourites lists going on various sites (Sephora, MAC, Ulta, Nordstrom, Bloomies, here, Beautylish), but no master list.

  23. kristina

Yes. Beauty, Shoe, Furniture, Jewellery, Clothes Lists.
I have to, my taste is larger than my bank accounts.

  24. Janelle

I am so lame I end up with things written on a post-it note. I see things I like online and keep the note in my wallet so I have it when I go to sephora. I used to keep the list on my phone but swatching gets messy :). Right now my list is large but my family asks what I want for Christmas and my bday.

  25. In my head for sure! I slowly tick off the boxes (much to the woe of my bank account…). I do write things down if I like them and want to check them out but more often that not, it’s lost and I’m left with my head again!!!!

  26. Pinterest! And I use sites like Sephora and Amazon to create wish lists.

  27. Yes oh yes, I have now all my stash in an excel book with color description, color family, quality, price per gram. It makes me realised what colors I don’t have a lot of and what color I have too much of.

My wishlists has about 20 items on it. I also put products on “death row” and use them 5 days a week till I finish them to replace them with something else.

  28. I just wrote one yesterday, as I went window shopping at Selfridges and saw quite a few stuffs that I want, yes, I want! I don’t need more makeup, but I want some stuffs! So I came home and wrote down a wish list and the prices of the products. Sitting on it…and re-considering one or 2 items already.

It started last year during the fall and holiday season. And I found out that in the end I didn’t buy too many things that I dont need. Because after a while, the want just wore off. :)

  29. I always have a beauty wish list x

  30. stef b loves list, wunderlist, pinterest!
