  1. I started a blog about food & dining in New Orleans 8 years ago. Over the years and with the introduction of Twitter & FB, my “brand” became a social thing here, and it even kickstarted my career in media (writing, publishing, production). When it seemed everyone and their grandmother had started a food blog, I created a beauty blog to keep me interested in blogging. And then THAT landed me a fashion spread in a local publication. Just a few months ago, I merged all of my interests into one blog. I spoke on a panel this past Wednesday at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week on the topic of Creating an Online Presence, so I’m pretty happy about starting that initial blog!

  2. I had a sort of blog back in 2004 on MySpace (does anyone remember their blog section?). I talked about everything and anything including cosmetics and all that goes with it. I quit that when my computer died in 2008 (if you don’t log on to MySpace within a year, your account gets deleted *sad*). At that time my father was diagnosed with a rare form of ALS and I willingly stopped my life to help my mum care for him since it was a stressful full time job.

Fast forward to a year and a half later when I bought a laptop. I had many friends ask me to start blogging again but I just didn’t have it in me … That was until last year. I don’t blog a whole lot (I’m saving for a fancy camera) but I do try. I LOVE reading others and it’s amazing what people think about the same products.

  3. i started a beauty blog because i want to share my hobbies to people
also at first i only focused on nail art blog then a year after that i started mix my post with make up look and product review.

  4. I do! I really enjoy the process of creating posts and photographing products and looks.~ it gets tough sometimes but it is very rewarding~

  5. Christina

Haven’t started one yet :) I plan to start a Youtube channel within the next couple of weeks though-I’m waiting on my new camera :)

  6. I love sharing what I know and what I’ve learned so far. My beauty blog serves this purpose as well as a means for me to practice while I build my portfolio and kit :)

Yes! I toyed with the idea of starting a blog for a while. I’m in law school now but have my degree in journalism, and I really missed writing in my own voice (I find legal writing nearly devoid of any sort of personality). I couldn’t decide what to start the blog about, but it ended up being a hybrid health and beauty blog where I post a lot of recipes, tips, tutorials, outfits, etc. Really loving it so far–If you guys want to check it out, that would be amazing!

  8. Beauty blogging has become my new found passion. I think being from the island of Trinidad adds a special touch to my blog.

  9. I literally have started my beauty blog and from what I’ve seen in other beauty blogs, there’s a surprising amount of diversity, which I find exciting.

  10. I do! I just started it a few weeks ago! I wanted to start youtube videos but my camcorder stopped working so I decided to keep my goal just change it a bit and blog instead (: Still very new to it though and have only a few posts, need to get the hang of it!

  11. I started mine for my own entertainment. I’ve got a giveaway going on there right now, cos those are just plain freakin’ fun :)

  12. Hello!! I just started my blog and I started it because I love everything about beauty! I just love it! I have some ideas and I like to share them with people with my same obsession!

  13. Yes and no.
It’s not my personal blog, but so far it slightly changing from a company blog into something with personal touch.
However, I don’t do reviews/swatches I try to write about beauty related things.

  14. One day I was out with my partner at a supermarket and I picked up a container of Redken’s Dry Wax, which they were selling for an outrageous $23.99. The salon I work in carries it for $14.99, which is the standard MSRP. I went on a 10-minute rant about how this is product diversion and went into the nitty gritty details of how supermarkets obtain these products. My partner, god bless her, said to me “why don’t you start a blog to open peoples’ eyes to this kind of stuff?”

So I did! I haven’t gotten around to posting about product diversion yet, but I have posted a ton of looks and continue to find inspiration in every day things.

I love to educate my clients in the salon every day, and so I use my blog as an educational tool. The opportunities to educate people on hair and makeup are endless!

  15. I started my beauty blog just over 2 years ago because my older cousin finally got me into wearing makeup and ever since then I’ve been addicted!

  16. I have a beauty/geek/whatever else I want to chat about blog. I write about things that interest me rather than exclusively focusing on what’s hot at the moment. I find writing very cathartic and it helps keep me sane most days. I can’t always share my private struggles with the world but I can share my little joys that make me happy :)

  17. I’ve been blogging for a year this month. I love it and I never thought I’d be a blogger but it’s so much fun.

  18. Hi there! :) I do have a beauty blog (coming to a year old! Haha!) and this started off as a form of interaction with my girlfriends who are not confident in putting makeup and wanted to know more about the makeup application.

Therefore, my blog is now serving them as the one-stop station for any latest beauty trends in Asia, as well as in US/Europe!

  20. as a Director of Marketing for my sorority’s International Headquarters, I’m surrounded by estrogen and femininity! I am now starting my MBA with a concentration in marketing and use the blog to combine my makeup passion with my marketing skills :)

  21. I have a beauty blog but it hasn’t been announced, published or released yet for public view/consumption. I am still working on the template, flow, and ideas for the overall site.

So yes, I’ve got one but it’s not ready to come out of the oven, just yet…

  22. I was teaching some students to apply theatrical makeup, and they requested online tutorials for the summer months. My blog, Literature Couture, took off from there!

  23. I’m always talking about makeup, to everyone. At work, with friends, with strangers. I get asked what I’m wearing a lot and I liked cosmetics so much I tried Avon, but ended up quitting because of their shady business practices. I really enjoyed selling makeup, and blogging about it lets me share my enthusiasm. I currently don’t get promotional products to review because I’m a very small blog in a sea of bloggers but I hope to keep growing until I get noticed so I can review a wider range of products.

I think beauty blogging is a very good first step to learning about sharing something I’m passionate about through various forms of social media. I love seeing beauty bloggers become widely known based off of their skills and ability to promote things they love.

  24. I have one.. After following lots others I thought it would be a great way to communicate my thoughts on beauty through a space of mine! =)
