Disney Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette
Disney Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette

Disney Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette ($30.00 for 0.20 oz.) includes four shades: Carpet (glitter lavender), Wonder by Wonder (glittery violet), Splendid (glittery peachy pink), and Diamond Sky (deep turquoise).

Carpet is a warm-toned, pink-plum with a soft, frost finish. It had good pigmentation, and it applied smoothly and evenly. I can’t say that I detected any glitter in the shade at all. Giorgio Armani #27 is darker, more plum than pink. MAC Universal Appeal is a smidgen darker. MAC Pink Union #1 is very similar in color though more frosted in finish.

Wonder by Wonder is a blackened purple with violet micro-glitter/sparkle. On the lid, it read mostly as a blackened purple–I couldn’t really make out the sparkle (and definitely not at a distance). The color payoff is just so-so; I felt like you could load up the brush and get decent color, but it sheers out quickly when you go to blend it. This shade was the one that looked noticeably faded after eight hours of wear, while the rest were intact. L’Oreal Smoldering Plum is darker and less red-toned. Bobbi Brown Black Violet is lighter. Giorgio Armani #2 is much, much darker–but part of that is how intense in payoff it is.

Splendid is a warm, golden peach with a bright, frosted sheen. It had great pigmentation, and the texture was soft (a little powdery, actually) and highly blendable. bareMinerals Stealth is similar in color but has a satiny finish. Tarina Tarantino Delightful #4 is more beige, not as warm-toned. theBalm Luscious Lani is pink-tinted.

Diamond Sky is a subdued blue with a hint of teal (more blue than teal) with a frosted finish and cool undertones. The color payoff was fantastic, and this was the easiest shade to work–no problem achieving rich color on the lid, and the texture was soft enough to be easy to blend but not so soft that it was powdery.  Tom Ford Emerald Lust #3 is slightly more teal. Urban Decay Unhinged is similar but more subdued–not as bright. Urban Decay Deep End is a smidgen darker and more teal in color. Tarina Tarantino Ozma is very similar. theBalm Open to Offers Olwen is very comparable. Urban Decay Haight is darker and bluer.

Though three of the four shades are described as glittery, I only saw any glitter (and it was micro-glitter at that, possibly even sparkle, which is even smaller) in Wonder by Wonder, but it did not translate on the lid.  I didn’t see it when applied, but I also didn’t see any bits and pieces during application underneath the eye or later on, after wearing the shade for eight hours.  Shimmery/frosty, absolutely, but I wouldn’t describe any of the shades are glittery (which is probably good news for most!).  I was disappointed in the color payoff of Wonder by Wonder, as it tended to look a bit faded even when initially applied.  Diamond Sky is the best-performing shade in the palette, though both Carpet and Splendid were good (just not perfect).  I only experienced noticeable fading after eight hours of wear with Wonder by Wonder, while the other shades wore without creasing or fading for eight hours.

Diamond Sky is the best-performing shade in the palette, though both Carpet and Splendid were good (just not perfect). The only (partial) miss was Wonder by Wonder; it is workable, and because it is so dark, some will appreciate its sheerness.

Maybe I’m just not experienced enough, but palette color combos such as this one kind of stump me. I see you made a beautiful look but I wouldn’t even know where to start! And besides the look you made, I wouldn’t really know what other sorts of looks I could make using those colors together.
I actually think over all this one looks pretty good though, even Wonder by Wonder, as long as it doesn’t fade TOO much!

You don’t need to use every single eyeshadow. You can use Carpet on the creasee and Splendid on the eyelid and blend it.
You can also line your eyes with Diamond Sky or Wonder by Wonder and a small angle brush.

  2. None of the shades really appeal to me, and with one of them being a letdown and two of them being just okay, I am pretty sure I’ll skip it.
P.S.: Jasmine is my favorite Disney princess! Together with maybe Belle.

Carpet is gorgeous! I love that mauve type color. It’s not, however, enough for me to buy this whole palette.

  4. Thank you so much for reviewing this! I thought I wanted it, but after seeing the swatches, you cured my lemming :)

  5. Great combination of colours! Very colourful and pretty!

What does it say on the mirror?

Glad I held out! Although it’s nice to know that the glitter wasn’t the issue, the colors wound up being slightly different than I expected and now it doesn’t appeal to me.

Just wanted to let you know that I LOVED the way you applied this palette for shadows. Stunning on you.
Also wanted to thank you for posting pictures of the eye shadow application process. I’ve learned so much.
As far as the palette itself, I won’t buy it.I just bought the 2 UD palettes from OZ.

    Thanks

  9. I love the color combinations!
