Dior Jazz Club Collection for Fall 2009 Sneak Peek – Part 2

Dior’s Jazz Club will see the release of two limited edition palettes — Smoky Jazz and Purple Jazz ($65.00 each). I managed to get my hands on the Smoky Jazz palette, and it has easily become one of my favorite smoky eyes palettes to-date. One of the major reasons I love it is that they’ve included a plastic slip that labels each of the eyeshadows in it. They help make it just a bit easier for you! Each palette includes a liner, eyebrow color, three eyeshadows, and a topcoat.

The packaging is sleek, with the patent-leather (I don’t know if it’s *real* leather) look on the outside. Inside reveals the products, along with two double-sided brushes. (As with most palettes, the included brushes are just so-so, and those who use full-sized brushes regularly won’t be apt to switch unless it’s an emergency.) I appreciate included brushes, but I rarely use them myself.

The shades are just right for a smoky eye, and I like that they include both a more subdued bronzy-gold shade as well as a bright silver. This lets you mix up your smoky eye as you desire, rather than just the default gray/silver smoky eye. The liner is quite intense, almost like a deep black-brown. It will work best when used with an angled brush for sure. Even though one shade is for brows, you could easily use that as a fourth shadow, too!

Actually Guerlain has a smokey eye palette too but much smaller: 1 black e/s and 1 grey/silver e/s + 1 black cream liner with an angled brush.

I just picked up the 5 colour style palette in smokey.. just looking at that and at this one.. it seems that they’re…almost identical? except that this one has the extra bronzey colour and the eyebrow filler..I’m going to have to go in store when they launch here and check it out :/ Otherwise i’ll just have to hope I can find the purple jazz somewhere..

  18. Purple Jazz is available in Canada at Holt Renfrew! The one in Vancouver only has 4 left, so get yours quickly before they all run out.

I hear Holt Renfrew have another special edition palette with pink blush, eyeshadow and lip. Has anyone seen it? Is it worth 90$ CND? Bay have this jazz palette available now for 70$ CND.

My all time favorite eyeshadow is the “fard mat” of this palette. I don’t really care for the other colors but I have to take the palette everywhere because of this one shadow. I am looking to get another palette that contains this color or perhaps a very good dupe. Needing advice from the expert. Please help:)
