Deborah Lippmann Wicked Game Nail Lacquer
Deborah Lippmann Wicked Game Nail Lacquer
Deborah Lippmann Wicked Game Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “swirling lavender gray” with an iridescent finish. It’s a murky lavender-green, and yes, I said it, lavender-green. It’s more of a duochrome than a single shade, so you’ll find it flashes a murky purple in certain lights but in other lighting or angles, you’ll see a silvered green. It’s similar to MAC Ascension and Wet ‘n’ Wild Gray’s Anatomy (which has severe opacity issues). None of these shades are totally opaque after two coats, but Wicked Game is closer to being opaque after two coats (which is what is shown in swatches), as both Ascension and Gray’s Anatomy were sheer enough at two coats that I felt compelled to go for three for swatches.
You will have noticeable brush strokes from the metallic shimmer strewn through the color base, which may or may not be your thing. It’s a lot like brushed metal in finish, and I can totally understand not loving that look! They’re fairly easy to control and get into a straight line, but you will want a steady hand (I wasn’t so steady, and I went awry on my ring finger!). Again, it’s not quite opaque in two coats, as you can still see visible nail line peeking through. Deborah Lippmann’s formula is solid; it doesn’t bubble, chip, or streak for me, and I typically get a week of wear with minimal tip wear.
Where to Buy: Nordstrom, $16
The Glossover
It could use more pigmentation, but it's the most pigmented of the three shades in this particular hue. Deborah Lippmann's formula is really good, overall, and tends to wear better than the average polish for me.

Product & Review FAQ
Where can I purchase it? How much is it?
Nordstrom, $16.
Is it limited edition?
No.
Any dupes?
It's similar to MAC Ascension and Wet 'n' Wild Gray's Anatomy (which has severe opacity issues).
I have the Wet n Wild one it caught my eye after I saw a similar but more expensive one at the drugstore(Chameleon brand). I was disapointed with how sheer the Wet n Wild one is and now I am only going to wear it over another polish
It reminds me a little of my very first duochrome, Revlon's Khaki Zing....but I may have to pick this up, being a huge DL fan. Great post, thank you :)
I know in your review of it you had issues with Gray's Anatomy, but I have to say, having used it since then, I have to say mine was about as opaque as this is (in 3 coats). Maybe you had a crummy bottle? Or maybe I have a really good one, lol! I'm passing on a $16 polish that I can dupe easily, in any case. Sorry DL.
I love this color, but I already have OPI Not Like the Movies (which is the same base color but has silver glitter), so I've been debating getting it for a while :P The glitter in Not Like the Movies changes the finish from metallic to more of a foil. Zoya Ki is also similar, but much darker.
this has been out for a while now...definitely came out before OPI not Like the movies. maybe a year ahead of opi. This definitely looks better in the bottle.
I actually swatched this on one nail the other day and found it way too sheer! The idea of the color is very interesting though.
I've tested this out with Wet 'n' Wild Gray's Anatomy. But if you do a base layer of pure silver that beautifully (and fickle) hue comes out more opaque.
That was my first thought when I saw how sheet this is--to layer it. The Silver sounds beautiful, I'm also wondering about a cream navy blue or a cream dark purple.
Yeah it looks way better in the bottle. But actually if you layer it over black polish then it'll look exactly like in the bottle. It usually works like this for multi-chrome polishes =)
Do you think the duochrome in this shade is as strong as in Ascencion? I'm contemplating which one to get (so far, Wicked game is winning). Thanks! :)
