Deborah Lippmann Glamorous Life Nail Lacquer

Deborah Lippmann Glamorous Life Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.5 fl. oz.) is described as “Rolex rose gold” with a metallic finish. Deborah Lippmann said it took her three years to get the finish you see in Glamorous Life–always fun to read tidbits like that. It’s champagne, it’s beige, it’s rose gold–it’s really a mix of pink and champagne with threads of gold micro shimmer to give it that metallic finish.  It was opaque in two coats.   Zoya Pandora is less metallic, more shimmered, and not as pink. Rescue Beauty Lounge Plie has a similar softness but is a cream finish and has no gold.

This is one of the easiest metallics I’ve worked with; it’s not too thick and the brush strokes easily pull into straight lines–no wonkiness. There’s a lot of inherent shine in the finish even without a top coat (though I’d still recommend a top coat for prolonged wear).  The polish applies evenly across the nail without bubbling or streaking.  I’ve had good luck with Deborah Lippmann’s formula–her shades typically wear for a week with minor to minimal tip wear.

Where to Buy: Beauty.com, $16

The Glossover

A

I hope more metallics apply as easily as this shade did! It was such a pleasant experience to see the threads of shimmer with a more uniform appearance, rather than having to be really meticulous and ensuring to only use the minimum brush strokes to apply the color!

An expensive polish that actually looks expensive for a change.

Mann, such a pretty color! It's unfortunate because so many metallics have such beautiful colors but it's just so damn hard to get them to apply right. Even with Glamorous Life, I hate that you can still see where the brush strokes were.

It looks like a slightly rosier and less copper version of Butter London's Old Bill. This is a very pretty, antique looking color. But my butter london is a little too close to this to buy this one.

I think this polish is perfect! I'm 21 and it didn't even cross my mind that this would ever be too 'old', its also so smooth on it feels like a gel manicure! Rose gold is my obsession at the moment and this is exactly what i was looking for and more :)

Ok I had to mark Love it because I have it ;) I am a sucker for anything 1)DL and 2)rose gold. That being said, I do not think this is the best representation of the color. Butter London Fairy Lights NAILS IT (pun intended). I was so much more impressed with that shade than DL's. (just swatched both the other day).

Thats a nice shade for people that can only wear "natural looking" nails to work. u know, nothing wild, something natural

I don't mind the brushstrokes, i really need this one so bad...if anyone has it and wants to get rid of it, let me know ;) crysje@icqmaildotcom

I see....old lady nails. This shade reminds me of something Blanch would wear on "Golden Girls." :D

What a shame so many feel these are old - I see them as classic and effortlessly feminine, but I guess I'll be wearing the ugly nails, LOL! :D

I'm loving the color. I think it would agree with my skin tone. I don't mind brush strokes. As you can see I'm very easy to please.

I think this looks like Essie's Buy Me a Cameo. Both of these are very pretty colors.

I was looking at that tonight thinking the same thing, but this seems brighter than cameo

i love it...but i have a strong attraction to rosey-golds and polk-a-dots...

Kinda reminds me of Nicole by O.P.I. It's possible!

I don't get the A for this, that polish looks like brushstroke nightmare

It's a metallic finish - it's supposed to be a brushed finish - just google "metallic finish" and see what real metallic pieces look like. Maybe if you have stainless steel appliances or brushed satin nickel fixtures in your house, you could look at those, too :)

Pretty colour, too bad it's so stripey

Hmmm...I just cannot like this. It feels "grandma" to me also. Reminds me of something I would have worn in the 70's. Love your website. I could spend hours here!

It looks like silk! Not for me, but your application and photos are beautiful.

Gorgeous color:)

I think the finish and the color itself are kind of dreadful but to each their own.

I guess I'll have to get this to go with the Michael Kors rose gold watch I bought myself for Christmas!

Still looks terribly brush-strokey.

I would love to know how this compares to Orly Rage, look so similar

Glamorous Life is one of my all-time favorite songs, so I'd get it just for the name alone. That I absolutely love the color is icing!

Love it! (And love your site!) This would be perfect on my pale, peachy hands.

Do want! Would anyone happen to know why it's only available on Beauty.com? What the chuck:(

I know that Deborah Lippmann had a TON of holiday shades this year and several were exclusive to X store, others were exclusive to Y store.

Oh my god, this is fabulous. A must buy!

a very similar colour would be chestnuts about you by sephora for opi. it's has more of a shimmer/metallic feel to it but the rose gold is the same and it doesn't show brush strokes.

I think this is so pretty! I want it!

It looks a little streaky and messsy to me for $16.00. If I got ahold of it, with my little tremors, it would be a bloomin' disaster!

This was applied it about 15 seconds (each coat, that is) - not at all messy or hard to work with! I have shaky hands, actually, since I have carpal tunnel.

I've been waiting for this color, ha ha! Had to get it! :D

That is so beautiful!!! I've never been so drawn to a nude-ish polish before. I could just stare at my nails all day with a shade like that.

this took her three years to finish?! The color's not bad, but it just seems too dupe-able. I guess frosts are always streaky, even Lippmann ones. Pass.

It's a metallic, FYI! Frosts are shimmery but metallics always have the "threads" to give it the metallic finish! Think brushed satin nickel :)

:| that has terrible steak lines!! oh no :(

It's a metallic finish - maybe you are unfamiliar with it - but here's a good site with several images: http://www.advancedgrilles.com/finishes/metallic. That's part of the finish - they aren't streaks but the metallic threads that give it the dimension of it. Streaking is more when the color does not apply evenly so it has a streaky look.

How does Zoya Austine compare? and you should add Deborah Lippmann to your swatch gallery!

It is in the gallery, just not under brands, as it doesn't have enough polishes.

It was in the swatch gallery the last time I checked a couple days ago, although it's under "Lippmann", not "Deborah Lippmann".

This is lovely, but it's kind of a "grandma" shade to me.

This has been my go-to polish for fall!!! I was disappointed with orly's rage, which everyone called rose gold, but it leaned to cool and didn't look rosy to me! Loooove the glam life!!!

Ditto! I returned Orly's rage because it didn't look too good on my skintone. Glam life looks perfect!

Im sorry, its way too streaky for me.

Please check out what metallic finishes look like, not just in polish, but real life - http://www.advancedgrilles.com/finishes/metallic I just googled around but that site had several decent images of it. It's not streaky, which is when color applies unevenly - you can see brush strokes, but to an extent, it is part of the finish itself!

Eh, not crazy about the color. It's a bit old -- reminds me of the nail polish my grandma always wears.
