Clinique Modern Mattes Fall 2008 Sneak Peek!

Cinique’s Modern Matte is a collection focusing on matte eyes and high impact color on the lips. I am loving the new High Impact Lip Colour lipsticks – they are gorgeous, and there are so many shades to choose from. I know only a few are featured/highlighted in the actual Modern Matte collection, but there is basically a separate launch filled with these babies! I’m hoping to get to do some lip swatches later on this week, but here are some photos to hold you over. :)

Ahh they’re all so pretty! And the matte is totally classy! I’m pretty surprised Clinique is putting out a matte collection, especially when everyone seems to be embracing metallics (Chanel and Dior’s Gold collections, Lancome’s Maharani Jewels collection…even Bobbi Brown’s collection!). Maybe they’re trying to stay on top of the post-metallic trend?
In any case, I’m loving the lipcolours. I love love LOVE Red-y To Wear, but I already own Port Red, and I hardly ever wear red lips so I don’t know whether it would be worth it. And I’ve heard good things about the blush stick, but is it ok for warmer skintones? It looks like it wouldn’t really suit a more tan complexion, like mine :( Which is sad cause I’m a total sucker for cream blushes.

True! But at the same time, it’s a great way to capture the audience who doesn’t want to do metallics OR needs a break from them :)
I think the blush sticks would be great for warmer skintones!

That blush looks like it would look beautiful on tan skin, give it a little naturally flushed look. It totally just sold me, I’m gonna get it just because of this pic =)

Oooohhhh…I’m all over the red-y lipstikc. Unfortunately Clinique over here is too lazy to update with new collections. Can you believe they haven’t even sold glosswear yet? That alone makes me mad!

thanks very much for the swatches. I have been madly curious about these lipsticks. What is the texture like? Do you think the colour will fade quickly once applied?
One thing’s for sure, I’ll be out swatching these lippies myself as soon as i have 5 minutes!

Sure thing, Heids! I find that they’re very creamy, have a good subtle sheen – nothing over the top or frosty. I don’t think it’ll fade quickly – no moreso than your typical mid-to-high end lipstick!
