Clean & Clear’s In-Shower Facial Gives Super Soft Skin at a Bargain!

What’s my new favorite product to use in the shower? Clean & Clear’s In-Shower Facial ($6.99). When I initially used this product, I was immediately reminded of my Prescriptives Instant Gratification must-have. It gives me very similar results (though I do feel that Px’s is a bit more intense and the effect of soft skin lasts longer, but it is also much, much more expensive).
The In-Shower Facial is a gritty gray scrub that you apply to your face, let it sit for a minute, and then gently scrub for about thirty seconds and rinse off with warm water. It’s designed to be used in the shower, so that the steam and heat help the product to work. Clean & Clear boasts about its usage of glycolic acid, which is an exfoliant to help in cell turnover, matched with clay that helps to remove dirt and oil out of skin and pores. They have also opted for a moisturizing complex that is designed for younger skin, which makes this product great for teenagers (although I love it, and I’m out of my teen years, even if I feel 12 most of the time!).
This product is meant to be used once every other day or so, between one and three times a week. I used it as much as three times per week, and my skin didn’t have any adverse reactions, so it’s definitely worth using that often. At $5.99, I consider it a skincare bargain, but the truth is, you don’t need more than a pea size or so amount to cover your face, so this product lasts. I think mine has been in my shower for about two months now, and I do use it regularly. It has definitely earned its spot in my shower caddy (which is overflowing, so only the best of the best make it in there!). Because of its bargain price, I have to urge you to at least give it a shot. Your skin will feel like the smoothest silk!
Have you tried this product? What did you think?

I was using it while my skin was being overly sensitive (it was burning with a LOT of face creams), and I didn’t have any issues!

I was so sure I would want this after reading your review. But I have been reading Paula Begoun’s book (Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me) and I visited the Clean & Clear site to look at it’s ingredients.
Sadly, it seems to have a few ingredients in it that surprised me, and that are fairly irritating to skin. It contains both Lemon and Orange extracts, which Paula’s book says are known irritants. But it also has Menthol, one of her biggest no-nos.
Poo. I wonder what’s in the Prescriptives one. It might cost more, but I would rather not put menthol on my face.

You know, I read the book, and I knew this had some “no-no” ingredients, but to be honest, it didn’t irritate my skin or worsen any existing problems (in fact, I’d say, on the whole, bettered my skin).
The Prescriptives one has a whole long list of ingredients, most of which I can’t pronounce, not sure if it has any big no-no ingredients, though.

I love Px’s!! Definitely a favorite, like I was SO impressed by it. I agree that it is way more expensive, though - totally worth it, but hey, if you can get something cheaper? Worth checking out, too!

I use the Clean and Clear SOFT Day/Night moisturizers and love them; the Day has SPF 15, yay! I’ve liked them so much (and I have very sensitive, pale & freckled skin) that I’ve been tempted to try other products in the line. Thanks to this review, I am now headed to Target to pick this up!
Thanks! :)

which facial scrub do you prefer Clean & Clear’s In-Shower Facial or Avon ANEW CLINICAL Advanced Dermabrasion System?
What is the differences betweeen regular facial scrub and dermabrasion system? Thanks
Christine

Hey Lola! They’re different products, IMO! While I suppose they do similar things, Avon’s is a daily product (well, you do it for 6 weeks, then take 2 off…), whereas Clean & Clear’s is once every 2-3 days. I think of it as more of a treatment than a part of my daily regimen, you know?
The facial scrub is grittier, and it’s a little more “intense.”

Aww, it’s a shame they don’t sell this product over here in Scotland, this sounds like a fantastic product! :(
Just pondering, do you like any other products from the Clean & Clear range?

Booo!! Do they sell other C&C products? Maybe it’s just forthcoming!
I do. I’ve had good success with most of them (can’t think of any that I hated).

Hi Christine-
Thanks for the review. I’ve been looking at this product everytime I go to Target and have kept passing on it.
If you like the Prescrpitives, I suggest you try Olay Regenerist Daily Thermal Mini-Peel. It has super fine granules and it heats as you scrub (mildly).
Per the Olay website-”Rejuvenate…water activated, self-heating formula deeply warms skin to relax pores. Reveal…nourishing hydration for skin that is beautifully moisturized. Regenerate…exfoliating glycolic acid + micro-crystal complex gently polishes skin’s surface for the look of newer skin.”
You should give this a try, it’s cheaper then the Prescriptive product with very similar results!
