I think 50% of my stash is MAC, 30% of my stash is high-end (Clinique, Dior, Guerlain and Shiseido) and the other 20% is drugstore (Bourjois, L’Oreal, Maybelline and GOSH).

I used to use exclusively drugstore make-up, but I have to switched to nearly exclusively higher end. If I could find drugstore stuff that worked as well though, I’ve be a happy camper. I’m usually a budget shopper, especially since I love shopping, but there is such a big difference in quality with makeup. I definitely don’t want or need brand name anything simply because it is brand name.

One of my favorite eyeshadow palettes is actually one of the cheap brands you reviewed on here, Coastal Scents. I absolutely love their eyeshadow. They make it well, but it’s not expensive. That’s what I would prefer, really!

I have all of the eyeshadows and lip and eye liners that Mary Kay sells and quite a few MAC shadows and a couple of lip and eye lines…a good number of lipstick and gloss from MAC as well. I am addicted to MAC as of a few mths ago, so….I’m sure there’s gonna b lots more, especially once the Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection is in stores in a few days. :)

For me, my high end and my drug store products all pretty much look/feel the same. Especially eye shadows – some of my favourites are my 6 dollar drug store shadows (Canadian brand though, maybe that’s why?), and they go on WAY nicer than the few MAC shadows I own.
But then again, I also use a cream shadow over my primer, because if I don’t, NONE of my eyeshadows have good pigmentation (including high end brands).
The same goes for eyeliners, and I’ve experienced smudging and running from all price ranges. I just use my primer to counteract that, and I can go ahead with my 8 dollar liner just fine.
I do spend more money on my mascara (currently looking into trying out a new one, maybe Prestige or Tarte) but that’s just because I was never able to find a drug store one that I liked on my lashes. As for foundations, I don’t wear them, so I’m indifferent as to what would work better on my skin.
Lip gloss, I love every price. But I can never get enough of my Philosophy glosses!

Overall, I think I own more drug store products than high end. A good chunk of my eyeshadows are from Micabella though, which is a kiosk brand (and online), so would that classify as mid-range? They are 15 bucks, but I love them SO much. So yeah, I don’t really see the need in paying extra cash for things that work fine at a fraction of the price.

YOu mention a candian brand of eyeshadow that you love for $6 but you didn’t tell us which brand you were refering to.

I have mostly MAC and MUFE, but I don’t consider the prices high end. I think most consider MAC high end so I don’t know.

  6. I’m pretty even when it comes to my stash. I have mostly MAC and Urban Decay, and NARS for my blushes, but I have others like NYX, Cover Girl, Rimmel and stuff like that. And then I have some store brands.. Sephora, ULTA, Victoria’s Secret..

I have two Sleek iPalettes from London in Curious and Acid that I adore, plus my CS 88 palette. That were relatively inexpensive.

I have a hard time paying outrageous prices for things.

    Oh, right.
I’ve recently bought a Chanel highlighter and it was such a waste of money :(
All of my makeup is MAC and I thought I’d get a Chanel highlighter and stop lusting after MSFs and highlighting powders in the upcoming MAC collections (because I thought Chanel is something better). Oh how wrong I was! The black Chanel compact catches fingerprints like mad. Speaking of fingerprints, even my iPhone looks better than this darn compact. The highlighter itself is okay but (in my opinion) not worth the money I paid for it. Imagining how many wonderful things I could’ve got in a MAC store for the same price makes me groan. No more Chanel makeup for me!! Ever.

  8. Most of my makeup is MAC, some Urban Decay and some Too Faced. I own a few drugstore brands like Maybelline, Covergirl, NYX, Rimmel, Milani, and L’Oreal. I remember last year, I purchased a ton of drugstore makeup and some high end products and now I’m into high end cosmetics.

  9. Nicci

All high end. It wasn’t this way last year though!

  10. Steph D

Most of the makeup I own are from MAC and NARS but I do have some drugstore stuff like mascara and some lipsticks.

  11. Tattoo Girl

I would say my collection is 90% MAC and a few things from UD and MUFE. The only drugstore thing I have is mascara which is by Cover Girl. Love it and haven’t found anything better for me!!

  12. Basak

Mine is exclusively high end, but I don’t have a lot of make up, so there. Does mineral make up count? I have a lot of mineral eyeshadows, but those aren’t exactly drugstore.

  13. Natalie

Mine is exclusively high end too, but they are more of brands that are designed for the pro artists (MUFE, MAC, Shu, Illamasqua, KGD) rather than the perfume brands, such as Dior, Chanel or Lancome, etc.

  14. fiaspice

I have mostly drugstore make up with some high end stuff. Most of my eye shadow and mascara are L’Oreal, Maybeline, Cover Girl, Faces, Personel (drugstore home brand). But I have Lancome blush, Lise Watier primer and I just bought some Sephora stuff (are they considered high end?)

  15. Hi, I am the only one who voted for others!
I have organic make-up from Dr. Hauschka which is affordable and high quality, mixed with highend products like NARS. I only can wear Chanel nail polish also.

Highend products provide better textures and more colours, but in Germany they got way too expensive. Or do you pay 39 bucks on a Dior lipstick?? Or for a mascara?
That’s a lot, compared to the income!

Dr. Hauschka eyeshadow costs 15USD, compared to a NARS duo for 52 $$!
They charge us girls in germany a lot, I tell you, so most of the galpals go for drugstore finds or organic stuff, which is less expensive.
