I do keep a lemming list and most of it is because of your site! I have a nail polish lemming list then a MAC list that has like $500 bucks worth of stuff I want!
I write my lemming list, then I narrow it down.
What is a lemming list?
It’s a list of stuff you want
First, what’s a lemming list? I tried urban dictionary and onelook.com and neither had a definition. I assume it just means a list that includes everything you’d possibly want but am interested in learning where the phrase comes from.
Anyways, I definitely keep lemming lists and have them categorized on my iPhone using an Pick&Choose. I jot down everything I’m possibly interested and mark the ones I definitely want. If I happen to be at a store I can quickly just pull out the beauty list to remind me of everything I was interested in checking out. So happy to not forget anything anymore.
Yep, you got it spot on! I don’t really know where it originated from, to be honest!
Lemmings are animals that are rumored to follow other lemmings, even to their deaths (the classic example is off of a cliff.) Calling someone a lemming is basically accusing them of not being able to think for themselves. So a lemming list is a list of beauty products you’ve seen other people have and therefore want.
Good description. Brings to mind the old computer game of Lemmings. *Goes off to find online version…*
I definitely keep a lemming list, especially when new collections are coming out, then I wean down and decide on what products I must have and what I can pass on. It’s usually interesting to see if I come home with what I set out to buy!
*has the Lemmings theme song stuck in her head* Thanks guys.
No……… I just get whatever I want….
which isn’t a good thing. I always feel guilty about how much makeup I buy. Especially since I haven’t been able to work the past year, and don’t know when I’ll be able to again.
I keep a very short one, I am an extremely careful shopper. Right now I’m wanting the UD Book of Shadows and the Korres Sugar Plum Set. I will be getting both next month
i have one at beauty.com, but if theres stuff that i cant’ get at beauty.com i write it in my agenda
I keep one on makeupalley.com and it is also used there for swap purposes. And they also have a “Diary” section where you can list all the things you have to keep an inventory (I definitely need it bc I tend to buy the same MAC e/s colors over and over again hahaha) =)
i only keep one for MAC to prioritize between what i don’t have yet from the permanent line and the limited releases. non-MAC products are purchased on an as needed basis.
yep =]
my list is pretty long ..
every once a week my parents dont work, so they buy me what i want
then when i get home i tick off what i bought that day
what would i do without my parents.. i dunno
kinda spoiled,
of course! even if i might not be able to purchase them, it’s good to have a list just for feasting my eyes upon
Yes I do have a lemming list! It’s medium length I’d say. It’s good to not go out and get everything on the list right away in case something changes your mind on one thing. For example I really wanted Bamboom paint by MAC, but now I found out it would only really be useful if I wanted a dark eye look, and I usually stick to light looks. Now it’s off the list. lol.
I’m keeping a makeup wishlist so I can give it to my husband for Christmas shopping!
Excuse my ignorance .. what is a “lemming”?
