China Glaze Manhunt Nail Lacquer
China Glaze Manhunt Nail Lacquer

On a Manhunt for Bold Blue

China Glaze Manhunt Nail Lacquer ($7.00 MSRP for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “bold cobalt blue.” It’s a rich, bold cobalt blue. It has more of a jelly finish from what I can tell, as it’s not quite a cream, but perhaps not a full-on jelly finish either. Though very shimmery in finish, Zoya Song is similar in boldness and overall blue hue. China Glaze Ride the Waves is much lighter (and sheerer). Illamasqua Force is similar but a little more muted. Butter London Blagger is more true blue than cobalt.

It was very nearly opaque after two coats, but there is a faint shadow of my nail line coming through both in natural (studio) light as well as under flash (more apparent there).  The squishy look of the polish makes me think it’s a jelly finish, while the slight sheerness supports that, too.  The consistency was a good balance between thick and thin, so it flowed evenly across the nail and wasn’t streaky or prone to bubbling.  I typically get a week of wear out of China Glaze’s formula with no chipping and only minor tip wear.

So long as you don't mind slight sheerness after two coats or needing three coats for full opacity, Manhunt is a very rich, bold blue with a great consistency and flow.

I feel like this is a very basic blue, but it’s still very pretty. I’d totally wear it.

I love the finish, but the color is not something I could pull off.

  5. it looks alot like one from Essence called The Boy next Door. But i think The CG one is a bit deeper blue

  6. Too “plain” blue for me. I’d like it better if it were darker/deeper.

  14. I’ve been wearing this on my toes for a few weeks and maybe it’s the distance, but it looks blacker than expected. Hmm.
