Dior #003 Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Serum ($53.00 for 1.00 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium golden copper with warm undertones and faint pink and gold pearl. It was very sheer on its own, and when blended, I could barely detect any shimmer or sheen on my skin. It blended out decently but still had a tendency to lift and turn patchy if applied over any foundation (bare skin was fine, as there was nothing to disturb or lift)! When I tried to mix it in with my foundation, it seemed to cause it to separate more and break down faster (by about two hours) but had such barely-there effect that I would reach for so many other products in lieu of it or else use a dewier foundation. On its own, it seemed to last around six hours.

The formula is supposed to be a “highlighter serum” that be used alone, with foundation, and applied all-over the face. There are four shades (I only purchased two–I only saw two when I picked them up at Selfridges!) that seem to correspond with the Diorskin Nude Air powder highlighters in terms of the shade range. The formula has a thin, watery feel with a lot of slip that was harder to blend out without it blending out to almost nothing. It was also heavily scented with a powdery, floral fragrance that was overwhelming and noticeable for hours on the face.

Kat Von D Lovecraft Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark, rosy mauve with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly across the lips. The consistency was thin without being watery, and it spread easily over the lips for even coverage. It dried down to a flat, matte finish that didn’t appear “cracked” when I smiled. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours and was lightly drying after six hours of wear.

Tom Ford Paradiso Cream Cheek Color ($68.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a bright pop of peony pink with subtle, warm undertones and fine, gold pearl. It had medium, buildable coverage (up to semi-opaque) that looked a lot like a cheek stain once blended out on my skin.

The formula is supposed to have a “natural burst of color” with a “healthy glow.” The cream blush had a smooth, moderately emollient consistency–it had some slip but didn’t feel greasy–that blended out easily on bare skin as well as over liquid foundation. If applied heavily, the product tended to sit on the skin without drying down, but applied at medium coverage and blended out, it did dry down for the most part. It had a luminous finish that was a mix of dewiness and subtle pearl. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Golden Coral (237)

Cle de Peau Golden Coral (237) Enriched Lip Luminizer ($35.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, medium coral with warm undertones and fine, gold pearl. It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation (up to semi-opaque) with a creamy, smooth, and moderately emollient consistency. It applied evenly but had slight color that settled into some of my lip lines, though the glossier finish made that less apparent at a normal viewing distance. The color wore well for three hours and was moisturizing.

The Enriched Lip Luminizer formula is supposed to have “sheer color” with a “soft and silky formula that melts onto lips” that is “long-lasting” and hydrating. It’s a been a long-time favorite for luminous, hydrating, and comfortable lip colors. I feel like they make my lips look pillowy–soft, slightly plumper. The coverage ranges from semi-sheer to semi-opaque, while the texture is very balmy, creamy, and emollient. The wear varies from three to five hours, depending on the intensity of the shade. I find the formula very hydrating while worn but also after the color has worn away.

P.S. — Cle de Peau sells the Enriched Lip Luminizer as a Refill only for $35, and the case retails for $25.

Paradiso

Tom Ford Paradiso Cream & Powder Eye Color ($62.00 for 0.31 oz.) includes a sparkling, powder eyeshadow and a cream eyeshadow. I’m a huge fan of Tom Ford’s Cream Color for Eyes formula, as it is typically very pigmented, easy to work with, and long-wearing, but the sparkling Eye Color I’m often less enthusiastic over. The two products worked well together, but I would have preferred a more contrasting powder eyeshadow to pair with the cream eyeshadow to make it a more versatile duo. The cream eyeshadow was excellent–pigmented, long-wearing, blendable–while the powder eyeshadow was decent but could have been more pigmented and had less fallout over time.

Diamond Dust

Laura Geller Diamond Dust Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator ($26.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a grayish-white base with strong shift to pink-violet paired with a luminous sheen. It had rich color payoff, which was easily blended and diffused for sheerer coverage, if desired. The consistency was smooth, blendable but not so soft that it was powdery in the pan. The brand actually described the formula as a “translucent wash of luminous color,” and while with a very, very light touch and barely-there application, that effect was achievable, the reality was this was a pigmented highlighter–which may not be a deal-breaker for many. On my warmer skin tone, the cooler base made it easier for me to wear layered on top of blush, but the shift was noticeable on its own or layered. This shade wore well for nine hours on me.
